How do I upgrade to windows 10 from 8.1 Posted: 30 Nov 2018 07:03 PM PST Hi, I was recently told I could upgrade from windows 8.1 to windows 10 for free by using windows upgrade assistant. Do I have to go to the website page or do I click "check for updates" to see if I have a available upgrade? [link] [comments]
Windows 10 64-Bit Default Gateway Is Not Available Posted: 30 Nov 2018 05:50 PM PST So I recently built a computer and, after trying to access the internet, I realized that around every 3 minutes it just disconnected. If I tried to run a scan it would always say "default gateway is not available" and say it fixed it. The WiFi adapter is ASUS USB-N13 300Mbps 11n Wireless USB dongle. The important specs of the computer are cpu-ryzen 2600x six core mobo- ROG STRIX B450-F and the gpu is a 1060 3gb Thanks for your help! [link] [comments]
how do i download off heidoc.net to my mac? Posted: 30 Nov 2018 05:50 PM PST i am trting to see how i can download a 32 bit windows 7 pro off of that, but i don't know how this works, especially as i'm using a mac to download this, so a "downloader.exe" would not open on a mac. (planning to later use windows via bootcamp). also i don't know where to select 32 instead of 64? alternatively i found this link https://the-eye.eu/public/MSDN/Windows%207/ [link] [comments]
Do Office 2019 for windows/mac support Gmail calendar management? (including adding events?) Posted: 30 Nov 2018 10:36 AM PST I know the office 365 versions can do so - but do the perpetual licence versions gain this ability as well? I hate to use this forum as a tech support of sorts, but I can't find any information about it online, and this is really the only thing keeping me from purchasing both a windows and a mac copy. Posted: 30 Nov 2018 04:27 AM PST Am i the only person who thinks Microsoft needs to completely pull windows 10 1809 and downgrade everyone back to 1803? Microsoft has not been able to create a stable os since FCU and it has been a problem. First was having to delay a2018u because of a bug and now 1809 is causing more problems than anything. Me and my friends don't want to update and in fact my friend just bought a brand new surface pro 6 and cant even update it to 1809 cause of the intel driver bug thing that is happening. I have been reading soo many problems related to 1809. 1809 is just a complete mess and should not be used unless you have no choice. [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Nov 2018 04:17 PM PST I was trying to install arch linux on my lenovo thinkpad windows 7 machine the other day, and in the process I erased my hard drive. I have a external hard drive that I saved my old data, but I don't know if it work? Any tips? thank you in advance for your help. [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Nov 2018 04:14 PM PST So after using Windows 7 for the last three years without formatting, my PC was pretty slow and after getting an SSD I decided to install Windows 10 there as my main SO. I have 1TB plan on OneDrive and the folder has always been in one of my 1TB HDD, my concern is not only about being able to transfer all my data, in the root folder I have so many illustrations I've downloaded with the years and I always like to have them sorted by the date I downloaded them. The thing is, after I downloaded OneDrive in my fresh Windows 10 install I went directly to settings and selected my OneDrive folder with all my data so it doesn't need to download anything since I have so many files, I did that while unchecking the same folders from OneDrive I have unckecked on the original installation which are only 4 of them, so nothing new had to download, but still, while I selected my OneDrive folder and unchecked the folders that are only on the web it started synching over 400,000 archives, which is my whole folder, so I'm affraid this is changing the metadata and will mess up how I had them sorted on the disk. Is this normal? Or was there a proper way to install a fresh OneDrive on a new SO while keeping the same folder without the need to resync? Thanks! [link] [comments]

How can I change date and time with the option blocked. Posted: 30 Nov 2018 08:19 AM PST My school laptop broke and it had to get repaired by the schools media center. They must have reset it or something because the date said December 2016. I tried to change it by clicking on the box in the bottom right hand corner and selecting November 2018 but it doesn't change. I thought oh well and then opened up chrome and I couldn't search the web or use google apps. The same thing happened in Firefox. The option in the date and time box to change the date is blocked. The person in the media center gets a lot of laptop in each day for repairs and I don't want to have to be on the waiting list for a while. Is there anything I can do? It's running windows 7. How to download Windows 10 Pro officially? Posted: 30 Nov 2018 11:00 AM PST Hi After my W10 installation disappeared along with everything on the disk overnight, I need to download W10 Pro again as I upgraded from W7 Ultimate and have lost the backup disk I created. The Media Creation Tool I found on Microsoft's website does not specify the edition of Windows 10 it will allow me to make an ISO for is the Pro version. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'd rather not download an ISO from an unofficial source. Thanks. This is so weird, my PC was absolutely fine one night, the next morning everything on my OS drive is just gone and, as far as I can tell, completely unrecoverable. All software I've used to test the disk reports that it's in perfect condition.... On top of that, an old W7 installation I never use - installed on a different drive - became corrupted and unrecoverable as well; though I at least didn't lose any data on that disk. Word (Office 365 ProPlus through EU uni) not allowing comments with ctrl+alt+m Posted: 30 Nov 2018 08:04 AM PST Just as it says, I can't get ctrl+alt+m to work on word to highlight text and make a comment. I use it quite frequently in my work with editing and feedback, so it's very much a nuisance. It's there in the options/ customize ribbon settings, but clearly not working in the document. Any suggestions? [link] [comments]

Hanging on lock screen after update Posted: 30 Nov 2018 05:41 AM PST Hey so I have a new laptop that has been great so far. Super quick and all of that with no issues. Running Windows 10 Home. Last night I got a notification to update my Windows, so I did it no problem right. It took a while, but that is okay it said it was a big update. Anyways... Now when I start up it goes to my lock screen as it did before. Normally, I could just click and it would take me to the password screen and I'd be good to go. But since last night, now it shows the lock screen and I don't have a mouse. I wait a few seconds and then the time and everything but the background disappears. Then it all comes back and it is good to go after that. Why is it doing this though? Is there a way to diagnose or fix it? [link] [comments]
No desktop icons and start menu won't open after windows 10 1809 feature update Posted: 29 Nov 2018 08:50 PM PST Hi all, I have just received my 3rd PC in two weeks here at my PC repair workshop with this exact fault. Some sort of failure to install windows 10 1809 feature update results in: - A black desktop with just the Recycle Bin showing. No other icons. This is what I have tried, without success: It seems like a corrupt user profile. The best I have come up with so far is to back up the users folders, then fresh install Windows 10. This is bad. Three PC's all with the same issue and this is following the other disasters with original release of 1809!!! The 1809 upgrade needs to be pulled down immediately…again. [link] [comments] |
