Posted: 31 Oct 2018 06:04 PM PDT ViaONMSFT: Two brothers have been charged with felonies after stealing around $200,000 in Surface laptops from Microsoft's Building 88, according to a report from KIRO-TV. One of the brothers, Galvin, who was a full-time employee for Microsoft, used his keycard to get in the building while the other, Garcia, followed him inside. Galvin then preceded to push a cart full of laptops where he was caught on camera wearing a hooded sweatshirt along with a mask. Of course, a mask only works if it stays on, and brother #1 later takes it off to be seen by two additional cameras that capture a clear shot of his face. Not that the mask would have worked, because the police were able to use the keycard information to further verify the identity of the thieves, both of which are being charged with felony theft. Why is the Windows photo viewer so bizarrely designed? Can anyone recommend a sane alternative? Posted: 31 Oct 2018 03:48 AM PDT If you delete an image, most of the time (but not always!) it will reload that image. You can then choose to delete it again. I've had this happen more than 30 times in a row, making it impossible to keep sorting through my images -- I have to kill the app and relaunch it and hope I have better luck with deletions the next time. It behaves this way on both of my machines and on my wife's machine, so if it's a bug rather than some ridiculous intended behaviour, it's a common bug. What on Earth is going on with this sort of thing? For anyone who hasn't experienced this here is a video of me deleting the same image over and over for 30 seconds. Note that the file actually is deleted the first time, so it's not like it's a lack of permissions or something. The Photos app just doesn't realise it's gone and continually reloads the same view over and over. [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Oct 2018 03:46 AM PDT Hey there, Does anyone know whether the MS devs are planning to improve the Your Phone app on Windows and Android, and if so what their timeline and planned features are? The one (and pretty much only) thing I'm quite jealous about regarding macOS is the fact that if you have an iPhone it's very well integrated with your laptop. All messages/phone calls/notifications (including WhatsApp messages) can be viewed and interacted with directly from your laptop. I'm a big fan of what MS are trying to do with their latest update and the Your Phone app, but because it's early days it's obviously a bit behind. Would be awesome if we could have the same level of integration between Windows on Android. Many thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Oct 2018 11:30 AM PDT In general, are you noticing a trend of less support for Windows 7? I'm curious how Windows 7 is doing these days among home users. [link] [comments]

Mac integration into a Windows Environment / Active Directory - Discussion Posted: 31 Oct 2018 01:05 PM PDT Hi, Thanks in advance for any help and guidance. So we've acquired some Mac machine recently but we are a full Windows house at the moment, so this is new to me. Talking about maybe 10 machines and we want them integrated to our AD. We've got SCCM and intune and are currently looking into Parellels for Mac management that links to SCCM. https://www.parallels.com/uk/products/mac-management/ **Does anyone have experience doing management with Parallels? Or any other recommended process or solution. **Bridging is obviously required for the AD integrations. How have you carried out bridging? Jamf is also something that has come up in conversation for management but unsure if this is required and could not justify it for say 10 machines. Any help is apprectied, 1st Mac to Windows task for myself. [link] [comments]
Having Problems With Downloads Posted: 31 Oct 2018 12:26 PM PDT Just recently downloaded some Clone Hero charts that was 3.3 GB in total, but Windows claims it up 14.5 GB of space. Anyone know why this is happening? [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Oct 2018 11:42 AM PDT Is there a way to do this easily? I have tried looking online, and most search options do not provide me much if any information. Or give terribad installation instructions. I have Windows 10, upgraded from Windows 7 on my old Hard Drive. I recently got a SSD and want the OS on there. But I am struggling to figure out HOW to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Schwahn [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Oct 2018 07:20 AM PDT Hi everyone, I've just released Clipboard Everywhere 2.0, a major overhaul of the existing apps. The Windows Desktop and Android apps have been completely replaced, and all platforms now follow a consistent, and much nicer UI. In addition to the existing seamless copy/paste functionality, where you can copy on one device and simply paste on another; I've made a lot of changes behind the scenes to help things going forwards, but some things you will notice are:
And more. See the full change log here: https://www.clipboardeverywhere.com/Home/ChangeLog I'm working on a lot more, so the improvements will keep coming, to provide you with more and more value for your money. I'm planning a universal app, for improved performance on Windows 10; the ability to transfer files of any size between your devices over a local connection, adaptive layouts that make sense with larger window sizes, and much more. See my Roadmap here: https://www.clipboardeverywhere.com/Home/Roadmap I hope you like these changes. I also redesigned the website a few weeks ago so that it works correctly on small displays. Please let me know if you have any questions, feedback or feature requests. You can use the support email or message me here. You may also find the FAQ on the website to be helpful. Posted: 31 Oct 2018 03:24 AM PDT I have windows 10 on my Dell laptop, and I wanted to install Windows 7 on it because it's interface is much simpler for me. When I booted the installer from my flash drive, it booted up with no problem, but when I wanted to install, it gave me the message: A required CD/DVD driver is missing. I checked the files, downloaded various win7 versions, tried all the usb inputs, different flash drives, but I couldn't succed. Can anybody help? [link] [comments]

Smartcard logon option not showing Posted: 31 Oct 2018 11:24 AM PDT Hi, I've got a Windows 10 desktop image that is domain connected but does not give the option to use a smartcard to login. I've got all necessary card software and drivers installed. The card reader is connected locally to my physical desktop and I'm connected it via VMware to the Win10 image. I check that the OS can see and it can. Used certutil to test that. [link] [comments]
Do people like that big icon taskbar entries? Posted: 31 Oct 2018 11:15 AM PDT Personally, the first thing I do after installing Windows is making the taskbar look like Windows XP. You know, long rectangular entries with the window title on them. The default setting is a big icon. Since Microsoft has set that as the default setting, I thought "maybe it has some advantage?" and have tried to use it as it was, but I just could not. I have to click twice everything that has multiple windows (if you have two File Explorer opened, you first click the Explorer icon and then click the window again) whereas I can just click once in Windows XP-style taskbar. Also, with the big icon, I cannot see the window title, which sometimes could show valuable information such as percentage. I decided to write this post, because I just saw that Linux Mint 19.1 is adopting the "Modern" desktop and it was basically that they are now changing the taskbar from Windows XP-style to Windows 10-style. Even Linux is adopting it, it must be good, but why can't I like it? [link] [comments]

Non Windows 7 Laptop running Windows 7 OEM Posted: 31 Oct 2018 09:46 AM PDT I was looking for laptops on ebay and I found one I liked that has an OEM version of Windows 7. The problem is, this laptop is supposed to run with Windows Vista (still has sticker on Laptop in pictures), so I don't think this version of Windows 7 originally came with the laptop. Would such a laptop have issues (e.g. "This copy of Windows is not genuine") down the road? [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Oct 2018 09:24 AM PDT First of all, screw you Microsoft for not having these codecs built into the OS... And then having the balls to charge me money for them. WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR PANTS TAILORED??? I have a bunch of videos (4k60) that are recorded in HEVC and windows can't view them without this Codec installed. Anyway to circumvent the windows store to install this thing? [link] [comments]

[Windows 7 64bit] Disc drive issues Posted: 31 Oct 2018 07:34 AM PDT OK so I need some help because Windows 7 64bit is being wonky with my disc drives. My disc drives are an LG GH22NP20 and a Lite-On iHAS (I don't have the specific model right now). Both drives used to work completely fine on my computer when I used Win7 32bit but they haven't worked properly ever since I moved to Win7 64bit. I first thought they became faulty for some reason but now I used another computer, one that is very similar to my own but runs Win7 32bit, to test both drives and they work perfectly fine under that OS. What I mean by not working properly is: the iHAS does not read discs at all in and the GH22NP20 can't read dual-layer DVDs (which it SHOULD be capable of) but otherwise works fine. But like I said, both work completely fine on Win7 32bit. So, does anybody know what I can do get my drives working properly on my system without having to resort to using Win7 32bit? I've tried updating drivers but I've never found any drivers specifically for them. Both Windows and DriverEasy tell me I have the latest drivers. [link] [comments] |
