May have fried motherboard - I’m stupid! Posted: 22 Oct 2018 12:59 PM PDT I was trying to move files off an old iMac in target mode to my PC and I stupidly used a FireWire to USB cable without researching. Before I plugged it into the IMac my Normal computer shut off and there was a smell of burnt elecrtonics. It won't currently turn back on and I'm wondering if I just fried the USB port or is it more likely I destroyed the motherboard and more components. [link] [comments] |
Sound disappears suddenly while watching movie Posted: 22 Oct 2018 09:26 AM PDT Context: Desktop with HDMI out to a beamer and VGA+3,5mm jack to a sound capable monitor. Issue: While watching video (youtube, netflix, lan) the audio suddely disappears (over hdmi) and doesn't come back. The audio keeps working over the 3,5mm jack. OS: W10, 1803. Drivers are up to date. As a test I played two movies in two classes, after 30' one was still working (Netflix via Firefox) and the other one (Netflix via Chrome) lost the audio. I have no idea how to debug this.... Help is welcome. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Oct 2018 08:09 AM PDT I won a scan of my PC in a competition as a side prize. IT is valued at 1000DKK and they scan the PC for malware. After the guy did this through Teamviewer the Malwarebytes adw found 5 items. He said this is very bad and i should buy their security product which is 4k DKK a year which is a lot of money. When i said i would consider it he pushed on about that when he leaves he would have to do another scan for 1K if i ever wanted the 4K security. This sounds like one big salesman 101 to me, the only thing i dont know is how bad those 5 items actually is that was found. He used something Calles "My Data Something" for a scan too besides the adw malwarebytes. Can you guys help me? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Oct 2018 02:50 PM PDT Hello I'm a MSP and have a client who just had a server go down. I'm looking for someone who has the install file for TimeSlips 2015. We have all the necessary licensing but do not have the install file. Does anyone have a copy of just the install file? Sage does not provide the install file for any TimeSlips product older than 2017. [link] [comments] |
