Help me choose a 17" gaming laptop under 900 € Posted: 31 Oct 2018 11:13 AM PDT Hey people. I need to buy a new gaming laptop but can't find anything on this buget. I' struggle to buy dell g3 17 but i find some bad reviews about overheating (i have an hp laptop actually and overheating have burned the video card) so i'm a little concerned about that. Also i'm not in the us so here in Europe price of laptops are a little big higher. Ps: i also would like the Italian layout on keyboard, but i think i'm asking too much. Thank you for your kind answers :D [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Oct 2018 10:35 AM PDT Does anyone here have knowledge about the best paint and method for painting a glossy laptop? Internet results seem inconsistent and lacking on this but I do know they make specialized electronics paints. [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Oct 2018 10:31 AM PDT A friend offered me her laptop because she's got a newer one. And this is just something to hold me over until I get my gaming desktop in a few months. And I'm not good at specs so I need your help!!! -Nvidia Geforce 940mx -1920 x 1080, 60Hz -Windows 10 I was wondering what games I could run with this. I'm playing a few much older games right now because that's what I love to play and would tide me over until I get a smashing new gaming PC. But, I wanted to know if this could run MMORPGs such as World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy 14! And please also list down some of the farthest games these specs would do wonderful in. I know that it probably won't run any games this generation/2018-2019. I'm guessing the the farthest game I could run would be in like 2015-16. [link] [comments]

Currently using my exes laptop which she allowed me to use after we split up, but I need to give it to her back now. The main purpose of the laptop will be to play Football Manager to a decent degree. [link] [comments]

Looking for a VR gaming laptop. Posted: 31 Oct 2018 09:09 AM PDT
Low budget, only about $500 - USA
Raw performance, it has to be at least capable of VR at frame rates that won't make me extremely nauseous.
Not at all, as long as it's not some 20 pound behemoth of a laptop.
Windows 10
N/A
Gaming, with occasional photo and video editing.
Any VR game, FPS, or adventure game. I don't mind playing on low settings as long as I get 90 FPS. Especially on VR.
No.
I already have a nice VR ready gaming PC I built, runs Skyrim VR or any other VR game at 120+ fps. However, it would be nice to be able to play games, VR and not VR, while I'm out. I don't care if I have to play at medium to low settings, because something over that would be a lot to ask. Trust me, I know this is a low budget. Especially for VR. It can be bulky, just not too bulky to put it in a backpack or something. If anybody knows of a laptop that can at least handle VR games at 90fps, please let me know. Thank you! Reviews or possible alternative needed for Dell XPS 15 Posted: 31 Oct 2018 06:51 AM PDT I was planning to get Dell XPS 15, i7 8th gen, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD and came across some very upsetting reviews for such a costly laptop. I got few questions. Are faulty pieces a usual thing and are there any well known issues? hardware, keyboards and wifi/drivers? Can it handle heat or it just thermal throttles like most laptops these days? Are there any other more reliable laptops in similar specs/price range I should check out? Posted: 31 Oct 2018 09:49 AM PDT i placed an order with dell to buy an alienware 17 r5 laptop and i asked them to give me win 10 pro. after 3 weeks waiting they put my order on hold. this is typical behavior of dell when it comes to alienware orders lol anyway i found somewhere else that sells the same laptop but they have it with win 10 home and not win 10 pro my experience with windows home was very bad. around 7 years ago i bought an hp pavilion dv6 laptop. it came with win 7 home. i did windows updates and i played lot of games. a few months later i started getting lot of blue screens and shortly after that my motherboard died :( i had to replace the motherboard. when i got back my laptop i put on it win 7 pro and i disabled windows update and everything was fine my old alienware laptop had win 8.1 pro and i need to buy a new one is win 10 home good? in my opinion the home versions are basic and full of bugs. the pro and enterprise versions are stable if i get win 10 home and i buy the win 10 upgrade then will my system be stable? or will some leftover win 10 home files cause any issues? it will be a hassle to do a complete format and put win 10 pro [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Oct 2018 05:44 AM PDT * **Total budget and country of purchase:** Budget is approximately £650 - Live in England * **Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply.** My priority is by far the specifications, a good battery life is just a bonus. * **How important is weight and thinness to you?** Not very. * **Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux.** Windows - Don't actually need a OS if it means the price will be increased as I already have purchased Windows which I can install. * **Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.** N/A * **Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.** Gaming * **If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?** Games along the lines of Battlefield 1 and The Witcher 3. I'd preferably like to play on high settings at least but could accept playing on medium. 25FPS would be minimum I think. * **Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?** N/A * **Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.** I have a Gaming PC but I am currently at university so it is quite inconvenient to take my PC home over the summer as it's a long journey. It is also hard to do work when I go home during reading weeks etc as I have to use my dads old laptop which isn't great. I'd like to be able to play games over the summer or when I go home and I just want to chill which is why I don't just want a normal laptop to run MS Word etc. I have never actually got a laptop before so I don't even know if my budget is enough to get me what I need. I was also thinking it might be good for me to wait till Black Friday/Cyber Monday to get one. Thank you for any help. [link] [comments]
15" gaming machine comparison - Zephyrus-M vs STRIX SCAR II vs Aero 15x-V8 Posted: 30 Oct 2018 11:24 PM PDT hi folks - So all these machines are within ~$150 of each other now and $2400-2500 CAD. They all have sexy-core i7-8750H, GeForce 1070s and 15" 144hz IPS screens. A few minor hardware differences; the Zephyrus appears to not have a second HDD/SSD bay, the Scar II is m.2 and SATA, and the Aero15 is 2x m.2. The Aero15 also has its super-huge 94Wh battery, so nominally an 8+ hour runtime. They're all in the ~5lb range. I have owned and liked ASUS machines in past, but never used a ROG gaming unit. I've never had a Gigabyte laptop, and am coming from an MSI unit that had good performance but felt too light and flimsy- the case and lid flex too much, and the battery life is f*** awful. Which of these 3 would be the best choice, or am I missing an amazing deal on some other brand in the same performance & size range? r/Gigabyte seems to be rather iffy on warranty and RMA support for their laptops, any others? Are the current Black Friday sales on Lenovo’s website worth going for right now? Posted: 30 Oct 2018 09:42 PM PDT Lenovo seems to be having a Black Friday sneak peek sale going on right now and I was looking at the X1 Extreme. I'm wondering if the sale is worth it now, or if I should wait until Black Friday or cyber Monday before buying. [link] [comments]
