I think the Play store needs serious changes Posted: 30 Oct 2018 03:19 AM PDT It seems that the Play store is overrun with probably biggest consumers today - kids. You can see a similar trend as on youtube with Logan Paul and with the baffling popularity of finger family videos I am trying to find useful apps, not games and my "Top Apps" list is:
Except for wish, the first useful non-game app is WhatsApp on the 14th place. In "Top Grossing" 100 there are maybe 7 non-game apps. Why can't all those games be in "Top Grossing Games" and not clutter rest of the Play store? The store now is simply unusable. I wouldn't have found any good apps, that I use every day if it was not for this sub. [link] [comments] |
Videoder Youtube Downloading Dead Posted: 30 Oct 2018 08:59 AM PDT Just after opening videoder on my phone, to my horror I discovered that youtube downloads have been turned off. A new terms of agreement popped up explaining this, and adds now can't be turned off (even though I PAID for the premium version to removes adds...what the heck). The app is pretty much unusable if it involves youtube. Is anyone else getting this? EDIT: I can confirm that the Videoder desktop version does still support youtube downloading (for now...) Best way to get Twitter notifications without the official app? Posted: 30 Oct 2018 07:23 AM PDT In my search for the perfect way to receive Twitter notifications without having the official app installed, I am now testing IFTTT (suggested by someone else here) along with Flamingo as my main Twitter client. Works quite well I must say! How do you get your notifications from Twitter? Most solutions I've seen so far: - official Twitter app - Flamingo or other intercepting official Twitter app notifications - Flamingo or other with sync notifications from time to time Tweetings was supposed to have push notifications but I later found out that it doesn't work for favourite accounts you want to get notifications from. Just wanted to avoid having 2 apps installed for the same purpose... [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Oct 2018 09:50 AM PDT How can I achieve this? Any widget app out there. I tried add it to the switches in the notification panel. This would be the best option for this. But USB Tethering isn't an option to add. Any app that can add custom switches in the notification panel would also help. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Oct 2018 10:59 AM PDT I asked myself how I could help people better facilitate their social relationships in the fast-paced environment of smart phones and social networks. SocialCall was my 5th idea. I noticed that my fellow students, who weren't living in their hometown, were often too busy to maintain contact with family and friends. They simply got overwhelmed with life. I came up with a simple, smart and non-intrusive app which could help people without wasting their time. SocialCall helps you stay in touch with those you care about by reminding you to calling them. I believe it can bring value on a massive scale 😁 If you want to check it out, visit - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.socialcall.sc.socialcall Please leave any questions or comments, I'll do my best to answer them all. Posted: 30 Oct 2018 10:59 AM PDT With the official Twitter app any notification of a tweet of the people I've notifications turned on for, the notification only shows text. Images show up as links and I have to click on it and go the app to see the picture. I want an app that shows me these notifications with the pictures embedded. [link] [comments] |
Some app to edit video that recommends me Posted: 30 Oct 2018 10:51 AM PDT I need you to be able to shorten the duration and also be able to shorten the size, not just in preset formats (e.g. 16:9, 1:1). Unfortunately I only find filters and transition effects... I would like suggestions, I have no problem with paying. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Oct 2018 06:53 AM PDT So I'm going to factory reset my phone. I need an app to remember all my currently installed apps with a direct link to app store and install them after reset. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Looking for a Ringtone Manager App Posted: 30 Oct 2018 06:43 AM PDT Anyone know of a good ringtone manager app? Something that can randomize ringtones, set different notification sounds for different apps, etc. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Oct 2018 10:22 AM PDT I'm trying to find a widget that can display a website inside of it on the home screen. I've searched all over the place and the only thing I can find is Meta Widget, which judging by the reviews on the play store, it doesn't work very well. Does a widget that simply has a chrome (or any browser) page inside of it exist? If not, is there some technical reason as to why this can't be done? I have a Google Pixel 2 XL running Android 9.0 and I'm rooted if that helps. I'd appreciate any suggestions. EDIT: Or better yet, is there an app/way to run any regular app inside of a widget on the home screen? This would probably require Xposed framework or something, which would be fine, but is there a way to do this? [link] [comments] |
Live wallpaper with Neon logos? Posted: 30 Oct 2018 03:38 AM PDT Is there a live wallpaper which has flickering neon signs like this Imagine the 'Game Over' Logo occasionally flickering. With an black background, this would be a really nice wallpaper Any ideas? [link] [comments] |

My most-used app doesn't sync *every* field to Google- seeking replacement Posted: 29 Oct 2018 06:17 PM PDT I've been using aCalendar with its Tasks function. It's easily the most used thing on my phone, I use the Tasks to schedule stuff I need to do, which would otherwise be forgotten or overlooked. I just set up Lightning calendar on my laptop, & got Google to sync its Calendar & Tasks, & now I find the Tasks only have a time field in aCalendar's Tasks app. When they sync to Google, their reminder time just gets mapped to the Google Task's comments field. I wanted to be able to plan my day without having to keep picking up my phone while I'm at the computer. But now my efforts have come to a screeching halt. I'm so used to using this on my phone this way, & don't like the idea of having to maybe find a whole new way to do what I want to do. If in the end it works how I'd like maybe it'll be worth the effort. Ideas, feedback welcome. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Sleep as Android and Mi Band - Does my phone need to be near my body if I make use of the Mi Band? Posted: 30 Oct 2018 05:24 AM PDT Like the title says. Can I keep my phone outside of my room and track my sleep using just the Mi Band? I've had an idea for my endproject in school to make my own Arduino controlled wake up light using Sleep as Android and the Mi band. I want my phone outside of the room to eliminate procrastination. Custom App Notification Sounds Posted: 29 Oct 2018 06:39 PM PDT Can anyone recommend an app to set custom notification sounds to apps that don't have that option and just use the default notification sound? [link] [comments] |
Need help identifying apps using "DownloadManager" API Posted: 30 Oct 2018 05:04 AM PDT Do you know any apps that use Google's DownloadManager API? I've noticed that most apps that download files, use their own implementation. I am tinkering around with custom ROMs and would like to see how some real life apps behave once confronted with a slightly modified API. So far I could only find some quite exotic apps like XposedInstaller and Jelly (LineageOS browser). You can test for those without any coding knowledge by long tapping on an app icon in the drawer or your home screen, going to "App info" -> "Data usage" -> disable toggle for "Wi-Fi data" and "Mobile Data" (most OEM implementations have these, Samsung does not as far as I know) and then starting a download from within the app. If the download runs that means that DownloadManager handles it on behalf of the app. If the download is blocked that means that the app implemented its own solution. Please don't forget to get these two toggles back to active afterwards! It would be nice if you could identify some apps from those you use and post them here. My goal is to teach DownloadManager to not download for blocked apps. [link] [comments] |
