PSA: Xiaomi has doubled the unlock waiting time. It's now 720 hours. Posted: 02 Sep 2018 02:00 AM PDT Some days ago the waiting time was set from 360 hours to 1440 hours. After some time it was brought down to 720 hours. This is equivalent to about a month. There are already some threads about this but I think it needs some more visibility. [link] [comments]

Would you recommend the Redmi Note 5? (honestly) Posted: 02 Sep 2018 08:48 PM PDT Hello, I'm contemplating buying a new phone. And after thinking about some options (the Moto X4 was my target for a long time now), I came across the Redmi Note 5 for almost the same price and incredibly better specs and reviews. So far, I've read almost only good things about it. But I've also read some negative comments (specially about screen burn in issues, this is a huge downside for me if true for everyone who owns it). Another thing that is of my concern is the size. I'm a guy with small hands, do you think I could use this phone without any problems? I've read that since it's 18:9 it's actually not that bad for people like me. I'm mainly a user of social apps (Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, etc) and I usually play Pokemon Go, so I think RAM management won't be a problem with this phone (otherwise tell me please). Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Sep 2018 08:20 PM PDT Using low brightness level on the phone ( about 20% ) , noticing when scrolling while reading news ..screen brightness appears to flicker slightly. More obvious on dark themed apps where text is white. I'm here first questioning wether it's possibly software issue or hardware one before I report it via the feedback app. Anyone? Posted: 02 Sep 2018 07:20 AM PDT Hi I'm considering getting either the Pocophone f1 or mi a2, and I need some advice. I know that the Pocophone f1 is better than the mi a2 at everything except for the camera and aesthetics, but at the same time the price is 120€ or 140$ higher in my country. For me the processor power is only important for browsing multiple tabs on Firefox, switching between multiple apps on the phone and video streaming inside Firefox. I don't really play much games on my phone, and even if I do it is smaller games with simple graphics. So i think the processor of the mi a2 will be enough for my use. I rarely take pictures so the camera isn't the most used thing on my phone, but it's still nice to have a great camera when needed. How is the camera on the pocophone f1? The reviews are kind of mixed, but most people compare it to really good cameraphones so that's kind of unfair. How does it compare to the camera on the mi a2? It's great to have the extra 1000mah battery size of course. Today I have a honor 6, and the battery size is the same as the one on the mi a2. To be honest my battery size doesn't bother me too much even though I have to charge once a day. There have even been times that I have charged my phone twice a day. So the bigger battery is definitely awesome, but the mi a2 battery is probably sufficient for me. I know the mi a2 doesn't support sd cards, but the 64gb one is more than enough for me. I have never filled up 32gb before and I doubt I ever will. The mi a2 includes a headphone adapter, so the lack of the jack isn't really a problem for me. Android one or miui is the same thing for me. I know miui includes useless pre-installed apps, but I would just uninstall all of them in 5 minutes anyway. I'm sure that the face unlock function of the pocophone f1 is never going to be used by me. I don't care about aestethics. I know the mi a2 is nicer looking than the pocophone f1, but design is the least important thing for me about phones. So which phone should I get based on the details above? The 64gb mi a2 is 277€/320$, and the pocophone f1 is 400€/464$ in my country. Thank you! [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Sep 2018 11:57 AM PDT Hello! I'm looking for a thin and fast powerbank with 2 USB ports. I've came across two different products the 2S and 2i 10000mah powerbank. Can't find the differences between both of them. Are there any? [link] [comments]

A little problem on my POCO F1 Posted: 02 Sep 2018 01:38 PM PDT Hi, its my first time here on r/Xiaomi so please be gentle :D So somehow the torch button on the bottom left corner of my lock screen is gone, and now i cannot swipe right for torch anymore. I still can swipe left to launch camera app though, just the torch that is missing. I know that i can use the notification toggle and i also can long press menu button for torch while on lock screen. But there is no menu button if you are using "full screen gesture mode". That is why i still want that swipe gesture back. Any help guys? Another unrelated question: how do i get into safemode on Pocophone F1? [link] [comments]
Is there still a quick method to switch China Rom to Global Rom? Posted: 02 Sep 2018 07:32 PM PDT I was thinking of buying a new Xiaomi Phone, but was wondering if it is still as easy as before to change from the China to the Global rom. Does the 1 month wait to unlock the bootloader affect this? Furthermore, to what extent is anti-rollback related to this. Will I have to plan to get a phone from Hong Kong/Taiwan rather than the Mainland? (Thinking of physically going to one of the stores in light of the new changes) Are resellers affected? I wouldn't mind paying an extra $20 for piece of mind... I would prefer they not do the frankenstein method whereby they change a China phone into a Global phone. I heard if I relock the bootloader afterwards, it will brick it if it is the Chinese Model? If so, are there a lot of resellers selling phones that will never pass safetynet but have the global rom on them? In that, they have the global rom but since a locked bootloader is required to pass vigorous safetynet, it will brick the phone... In this example above? Has anyone successfully got their money back from Aliexpress as goods are not as described? Should we be looking for certain phrases inside seller's descriptions. If so, could you list them? Why are so many sellers still doing the unlocked bootloader trick and selling phones to foreign users that require a locked bootloader? Is there a blacklist we can look at online? Just looking at http://en.miui.com/thread-2807235-3-1.html, we can already see lots of users that bought the chinese version of a phone that are having problems, probably not even knowing the reseller has done a frankenstein on them. Some bootloaders can't even be locked, so there is no bricking possible. However, the question comes to whether the goods are no longer as described and whether refunds are due on the reseller's misleading and deceptive conduct. Heck, all of us would pay $30 extra, not to have to deal with this. Why are sellers cheaping out? Raise prices and ensure a smooth experience. I mean, if the phone costs $700, and you save $30 because it is a Chinese Version. That might be good for the reseller, but the end user is going to have a terrible experience. [link] [comments]
Can't install Global Beta on redmi 5 plus Posted: 02 Sep 2018 07:09 PM PDT Hey guys I got a Redmi 5 plus that's unlocked and all but I can't install the global beta rom via recovery at all, the option isn't just there. I tried to update it using updater app but it talked about wiping data and I ran away from that as I don't want to lose data that way. https://i.imgur.com/0oOhXqD.png [link] [comments]
What kind of screen protection does Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite have? Posted: 02 Sep 2018 06:07 PM PDT I want to buy the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite 3GB/32GB and I'm interested what kind of protection does it have for the screen. I know Xiaomi Mi A2 has Corning Gorilla Glass 5, but there's nothing listed for the Lite version. Any clarification? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Sep 2018 02:19 PM PDT Hi folks, I need some help to choose an Android phone. My budget is ~200€ and I live in France. Those are 2 lists of the features I care about / don't care about in the phone. Things I care about:
Things I don't care about:
So as you see, my top priority is battery life, and a device that is not super ugly. What are the other devices I should consider? What device would you recommend for my case. Thank you in advance! [link] [comments]

When might poco F1 price drop ? Posted: 02 Sep 2018 04:08 PM PDT I'm pretty new to Xiaomi products and I am interested in Pocophone F1 but I heard that its price might drop soon, and was wondering how long would that take. I can probably wait up to a month otherwise I would prolly just buy it.I was thinking of buying it from aliexpress since I'm from Albania and everything is overpriced here. [link] [comments]
Has there been an official word on the obscure 1440 hours of waiting time? Posted: 02 Sep 2018 02:10 AM PDT This is getting ridicolous. 15 days was the maximum I would have considered fine but 60 days is just not tolerable. [link] [comments]
Is there display lottery on the Pocophone F1? Posted: 02 Sep 2018 08:48 AM PDT Can people with the phone shed some light on the matter and share their display manufacturer? I've seen countless of reviews and some Pocos seem to have better displays than other. [link] [comments]
Any chance the Mi Mix 3 will have global bands? Posted: 02 Sep 2018 02:32 PM PDT I've been eyeing the Mix series for a few years and my current phone is finally starting to bite the dust. Posted: 02 Sep 2018 01:14 PM PDT I received the laptop today and going to clean install Windows for English language but I'm wondering is it better to install the chipset drivers (Management engine and Serial IO) from Mi.com website and the rest (Intel and Nvidia graphics, wireless, bluetooth, fingerprint and card reader) from Windows update or should I install all drivers from Mi.com website?
