[ SOLVED ] Finally I found a way to TOTALLY disable Bixby button. YES!!!!!! Posted: 21 Sep 2018 01:01 PM PDT The most annoying thing about all Samsung's new devices is that unnecessary Bixby button. Honestly i don't like Bixby because i think it's just not good enough to use it, BUT !!! I do like Bixby Vision it's really helpful sometimes especially when i need to extract some text from a picture, that's why I don't want to disable Bixby services totally. Yes i know that we can remap it using some third party apps like bxActions, but the problem of accidentally pressing that damn button is still there. The option to disable Bixby button is still there in the Bixby settings but these settings are just hidden, So i figured out a way to totally disable it using an app called (QuickShortcutMaker) you can download it from Google play Market: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut Yes i know we still need a third party app to disable it but we need it JUST to find the hidden Bixby settings, after that you can freely delete it and forget about it forever. So here is how to DO that:
It will open the hidden Bixby sittings, under the "General options" you will see the "Bixby Key" tab on it and choose "DON'T OPEN ANYTHING". ............ Bixby button won't disturb you any more. It works perfectly for me on my note 8 !!!! [link] [comments] |
Why does the phone need to be plugged in to USB to work with Android Auto, specifically GPS? Posted: 21 Sep 2018 07:56 AM PDT This might be a simple answer that I'm just not seeing, but doesn't blutooth exchange data? You can stream music and calls, even send texts with blutooth, everything except google maps. Why is that? Using the phone with just blutooth doesn't bring up the Android Auto UI in the car, although it pretty much functions the same. [link] [comments] |
Are apps like "Cameraless" really reliable ? Posted: 21 Sep 2018 06:11 PM PDT In terms of actually blocking the camera or is it pretty amateur and useless ? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Just upgraded from an S3 to an S8, how do I go about removing bixby/bloatware? Posted: 21 Sep 2018 08:53 PM PDT I've heard of package disablers and what not but those seem to be vaporized as of today. I don't want all this extra garbage on my phone, considering I don't use it, and I bought the phone outright so I feel I should be able to do with it as I please. I'm looking to just entirely disable bixby to the point where hitting the button under volume doesn't do anything. As well as remove built in apps like facebook and all the samsung stuff. Sideloaded APK. Can I remove it from the Play Store list? Posted: 21 Sep 2018 07:03 AM PDT Plex, for some godforsaken reason, updated their app to a garbage UI. I'm using an old version of it. It asks me to update every time I mass update my apps. I have it set not to auto-update but that still requires me to "skip" auto updating it. Every single time. Is there a way to just remove it from my Play Store list? Also, Plex app programmers, if you're listening, your new UI sucks bad. [link] [comments] |
Web Domain-Specific Default App? Posted: 21 Sep 2018 08:18 PM PDT Hi r/android! Once upon a time, I accidentally set the default app to open any gatherer.wizards.com page using the MTGFamiliar app, and I cant find the setting for this to change it where other default apps are. How do I change the default app for this domain? [link] [comments] |
Finance's phone talked to her unwarranted. Posted: 21 Sep 2018 08:12 PM PDT She was sitting in the car using an aux cord to listen to music on Spotify while waiting for me. It was sitting in the console of the car, and without notice said through the car speakers it said roughly, "If you don't update your Android device your media may stop working properly". It was in a female voice. It's a Galaxy S5, Spotify itself has no update, and when I check in the settings it says there are no available system updates. It is up to date. I've ran a malwarebytes scan. Could it be some sort of a virus or what? I've never heard of a phone audibly telling you to update it. Much less without giving you a prompt or a message. Weird facebook messenger glitch when in power save mode? Posted: 21 Sep 2018 07:33 PM PDT When I use power save mode on my Samsung Galaxy S9+, mid or max, my facebook messenger turns huge... like the bubble is 3x the normal size and when I open it the font is huge, it only fits one word per line, if that. Is there any way to fix this? I've tried closing everything before turning on power save mode, but it doesn't seem to change anything at all. [link] [comments] |
Does internet SPEED affect battery life? Posted: 21 Sep 2018 07:19 PM PDT My internet wifis speed is at 150-450mbps)(depending how close I am to the router), and when im at my dad's, his 25mpbs internet feels like it drains my battery alot less. Does the internet speed affect battery life, and if yes, is there a way to limit my wifi speed on my phone (I dont need my internet speed that fast to be honest) [link] [comments] |

Galaxy S8 Plus FRP has bricked my phone Posted: 21 Sep 2018 05:38 PM PDT I know the subjects somewhat controversial from my research online but I have a Galaxy S8 Plus that I simply cannot use because I do not have the Google login credentials that were originally used. no the phone is not stolen but I have exhausted every Avenue to legitimately activate my phone so now I am reduced to this. for the record Samsung will not unlock my phone unless I provide unoriginal sales receipt which I have lost over a year ago. long story short I bought the phone for a family member who passed away this year and I do not no the email or password that she used. I have used odin3 and loaded four or five different firmwares that I have found online although I have not found one that matches perfectly to my serial number. they have all loaded fine but once the phone boots up it always says that there has been an unauthorized factory reset and I cannot get any further and it seems like all the tricks that were used in the past to get around this have been patched by updates even though I did try loading the original Android version that was shipped it's still stuck at FRP. any advice would be appreciated I really don't want to throw this phone in the garbage. Wear OS issues with new Android phone Posted: 21 Sep 2018 05:25 PM PDT Hey, so I think I know the answer to this question but I'm looking for confirmation to my suspicions. I've got a ZTE Quartz Wear OS watch. I've been using it since March 2017 and I've never really had any issues with it other than crappy battery life, using it with a iPhone 7 and several Android. Since October I've used it with Pixel 2 and had basically no issues. Last week I got a BLU Vivo XI+, a $300 budget smartphone that's fairly good value and it's worked mostly better than expected, and I'm only using it temporarily until One Plus 6T comes out on T-Mobile. I've been having a consistent issue with my watch losing Bluetooth connection requiring me to restart the watch to regain connection-- I've actually had some WiFi problems similarly, but a different matter all together. Anyone have any experience using Wear OS with a Blu Phone? I'm assuming the phone just has crappy and buggy WiFi and Bluetooth radios, but I'm also wondering if there's any sort of recourse. I'm assuming not but I just want confirmation. Like I said I'm not going to be using it for long either way, but it's something I figured was worth asking about. Oh, and yes I know going to a Blu phone from a Pixel 2 is ridiculous. It's a long story, lol. [link] [comments] |
Disconnected from WiFi network, possibly when establishing connections Posted: 21 Sep 2018 05:24 PM PDT I'm on a Galaxy S7 Edge, Android version 8.0.0 A couple of days ago I started noticing that websites were hanging for a second or two before loading. I initially figured it was an issue with my internet connection, but the problem persisted. After a while, I noticed that if I attempted to load pages in quick succession (browsing Google news, for example) then my phone would be disconnected from the WiFi network and then reconnect, usually immediately, but sometimes it would take 30-60 seconds to reconnect. No other devices have been affected, so I ruled out local internet issues. My second suspicion was that it was the recent Chrome update, but after installing Opera and Firefox and replicating the issue, it was clearly not caused by Chrome. I tested streaming video and that worked very well; no connection issues whatsoever once the video is streaming. However, when I was testing the streaming in the YouTube app, I noticed the browsing between videos experienced the same sort of hanging (latency?) that I experienced when browsing and after maybe a dozen rapid video switches, I was disconnected from the WiFi network. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to networks and internet connections, but it seems like the act of establishing a connection to a server is what is causing the issue. The initial connection is what's lagging and if I string enough of those together, my phone is disconnected from the WiFi network. However, once I'm connected, everything is as fast and smooth as you'd expect it to be. Restarting my phone seems to alleviate the issue for a period of time, but the issue returns. Power cycling the router had no effect. Has anyone else encountered this issue or does anyone have any troubleshooting ideas? [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to automatically switch Android accounts on my phone? Posted: 21 Sep 2018 05:07 PM PDT I like the option to have multiple user on a phone but is there a way that I can get an account to automatically switch depending on a trigger? Maybe with tasker or something? [link] [comments] |
Is my phone hacked or does samsung or android do this normally? Posted: 21 Sep 2018 02:56 AM PDT So I've got a samsung and it makes little compliations of images sorted by date and calls them stories. Anyway, I found 1 story of my pictures called 'Sweet little one' and 2 named 'Peek-a-boo'. Does samsung or android do this to someone else or do I have a secret admirer hacker? Lol EDIT: I got my answer, please don't comment anymore. Thanks. [link] [comments] |

Randomly received 3 different texts today intended for someone else... how is that possible? Posted: 21 Sep 2018 01:09 PM PDT The first text was cussing me out and when I said "I think you have the wrong number", they replied "Wtf, you texted me". I surely did not. Then, I got 2 separate texts in Spanish. It almost looked like one was replying to the other, but they were different area codes. I replied to both with the same "you got the wrong number text". One replied "no I think you", until I sent a screenshot clearly showing they texted me first. I also sent a screenshot to the second person and they replied that they texted their son and have no idea how I got the text. What the hell is going on...? Should I even bother calling my carrier (TMobile). Samsung Galaxy S8 [link] [comments] |

Chinese characters in Chrome location? Posted: 21 Sep 2018 12:17 PM PDT Curious as to why there are chinese characters in the location in chrome...this only happens when I am at work. They translate to "University, Florida" which is my location. But it's only when I'm here that I see these characters. I looked at the chrome language settings, they are set to english. I cannot find anyone online having a similar issue. Just curious if maybe it's a sign of malware or something. This is Android 8.0.0 on a Samsung S9+ [link] [comments] |
Android Messages 3.5 Battery Drain Posted: 21 Sep 2018 12:14 PM PDT Hello! I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920V running Android 7.0. Today, the official Android Messages app was updated to the 3.5.053 version. It's quite nice, with a new material design look and a dark mode theme. However, the app started draining my battery at quite a scary rate. The phone is old, and the battery is certainly not what it used to be. But after an hour of idling and minimal texting, my phone had managed to drop from 70% to 40%. Looking at the Battery page in the Settings menu, the app had managed to consume 8.35% usage per hour., prompting the phone to scream about sleeping the app to save power. Comparatively, the next closest app was Soundcloud, idling at 0.09% usage per hour. I tried the standard troubleshooting steps: cleared app cache, rebooted the phone, cleared the cache partition from the BIOS, reinstalled the app, but had no luck. I love Android Messages, and it is by far the best app for messages that I've used, but at that rate of battery drain, I just can't do it. I've switched to ChompSMS for now, which will take some getting used to, but I'd like to go back to Android Messages. Is this just a bad release, or is something else going on? I know I need to replace this phone, but this battery drain seems unrelated to the phone's current performance. Any thoughts or advice are appreciated. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
