    Audiobook Player (.m4b supported)

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 05:02 AM PDT

Is there any android app which can play .m4b audiobooks and can show embedded chapters?

I'm currently using Voice app from f-droid.org and it can play .m4b files, but it can't show chapters in it, so its one 20+ hr track.

    Best Budget Tracker App?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 04:48 AM PDT

Hi! What's the best one you could suggest? Preferably one with great security.

I want to track my budget, expenses, savings, etc.. Something that can also automatically deduct my monthly loans and monthly bills every start of the month.

Connection/Linking to bank is a plus. I have checked Money Lover app but it doesn't have my country's bank in it. I have also checked Wallet app, but I'm not sure if the price of its Premium is worth it.

Monefy and Bluecoins doesn't have a feature to connect to banks, but if they're better in terms of usability vs other apps, please tell me so.

Any opinion is welcome. Thank you in advance!

    Automatic screen turn off/on app?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 10:58 AM PDT

Hey i'm trying to set up an old tablet up as a tablet home system, I need it to keep the screen on during the day and than automatically turn it off during the night. The perfect app would be one that uses the camera to detects the light levels in the room and use it as an indicator on if it's night or day, is there any app that does this or something similar? Any help much appreciated.

Any android screen mirroring apps with audio?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 08:16 AM PDT

Trying to streaming some mobile games. Looking for a screen mirroring app that I can cast my screen to my PC.

Tried Total Control, no audio and low definition. Airdroid & Apowermiroor supper leggy and not even 20 fps when running on games. Airsever, so far is kinda okay but still the quality is kinda bad.

I do have USB-C port on my computer, and my phone can mirror to a regular monitor. But I just need to get the mirroring on a PC so I can use OBS to stream.

    Any help?

Where are the Black Player EX playlists and settings stored? Beta expired and a pop out at launch prevents from using the app.

Trick a tablet into thinking it is in landscape orientation but look like it's in portrait.

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 12:20 PM PDT

I am using Chromecast to mirror a tablet on a tv. I want the tv be sideways and look like a tablet in portait mode but instead the tv just puts black bars on the sides and keeps it landscape. So is there an app that can trick the tablet into thinking it's in landscape but look like it's in portait. Thanks for the help!

Looking for alternatives to xstana that will let me customize the status bar

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 07:31 AM PDT

xstana only works with marshmallow and below. Now I am looking for something that will let me have miui like status bar or something clean like iphone's. I tried Resurrection Remix rom and Gravity Box and didn't really like what they offer.

I would greatly prefer it it's something open source/can be found on fdroid or anything that doesn't have ads.

[DEV] CPU Benchmark - Giving away Promo Codes

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 03:32 AM PDT

    Hello,

I create that thread to present you CPU Benchmark an application letting you to measure the power of your Android device simply and quickly. CPU Benchmark is available in two versions on the Google Play Store :

You can discover CPU Benchmark in action on YouTube : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEFNLBpk0Lc

Once the Benchmark is over, you will be able to locate your device against the competition and knowing what its processor actually has in the stomach. CPU Benchmark is also an ideal tool for choosing your future smartphone or tablet with full knowledge of its computing capabilities. For this, a comparison feature allows you to compare 2 devices in particular.

The test performed by CPU Benchmark consists in the realization of various operations intensively using the processor of your device:

    • Calculation of the Fibonacci Function
    • Calculation of Pi
    • Calculation of Prime Numbers
    • Random Number Generation
    • Realization of Intensive Mathematical Operations
    • Using of Trigonometric Functions (Tangent, Sine, Cosine, ...)
    • Application of various Cryptographic Algorithms (MD5, SHA-1 and SHA-256)

CPU Benchmark has been launched 3 days ago and has more than 700 different tests concerning 164 different models. If you want to try the application without ads and give me ideas to improve the benchmark or what kind of other benchmarks I could add to the application, I can offer you promo code. Just ask me.

    Thanks.

[DEV] My first Android Game, Developed in ~2 Weeks

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 09:23 AM PDT

    Hey Reddit!

Here's the game on Google Play, its called Protect

I'm a Highschool student looking to potentially enter into a software engineering program in university, so as both a learning experience, and as a way to potentially impress Universities, I developed an Android game.

It's honestly pretty bare bones, but I'm happy with the result. I don't have much coding experience, so I learned a lot.

Let me know what you think!

    Transferring files between devices?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 01:08 AM PDT

    Hello everyone

How are you guys transferring files between devices like a phone and a tablet?

Let's say I've taken some photos or downloaded a pdf on my mobile and now I'm on my tablet and want those files, how do you guys manage this?

I use pushbullet but sometimes it just doesn't work.

And apparently Wi-Fi Direct doesn't work between brands? At least that's what my Huawei m5 10 pro tablet manual says. My urge device is a Samsung Note 8.

    What are you guys doing?

    Thanks

With smart select, you can capture any part of the screen and also capture gifs.

All I am looking for is an app that let's me select a part of the screen to capture gif and screenshot selected area.

android app that allows for texting and calling using data and/or wifi?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2018 12:23 AM PDT

I don't want to pay for texting or phone calls anymore. But I also realize that in the US, people still hang on to their cell phone numbers. there's wechat, messenger, whatsapp, etc but not everyone uses those.. I've found that android messages can let you send messages using wifi, but for some reason, I can't get it to work on my galaxy s5. I think it needs you to have enabled wifi calling, and I can't find that option on my phone.. another option i found is google voice. anyone have experience with this? what's the easiest, future proof way to keep using my phone number to communicate with people using cellular data?
