Why the hell am I getting inline advertisements in the mail app? Posted: 01 Aug 2018 06:15 AM PDT I paid for this fucking operating system, can I get a single fucking piece of software that doesn't have ads in it? Is there any way of disabling this nonsense? [link] [comments]

D:/ The directory name is invalid... but wait! there's more... Posted: 01 Aug 2018 02:57 PM PDT This is the notice that i keep getting from the drive that my peripheral is plugged into. The notice is supposed to come up when a storage drive hasn't been assigned yet, as I've learned from Google searching... only the notice comes up for a USB-C to USB 3.0 hub that I'm using because I'm using Bootcamp off of a Macbook Pro (no usb 3 ports, anyone?). I'm only using the port for an Xbox controller, and nothing else (no flash drives, no external hard drives, etc.) I went to the control panel to try to assign the drive, but since there is no memory contained on the peripheral, I can't assign it to anything. Alas, the notice comes up at random moments during my gaming, which is obviously putting somewhat of a damper on things. Does anyone have experience with how to make this notice stop popping up? Edit specifix word inside text of multiple txt files. Posted: 01 Aug 2018 04:18 AM PDT Hello everyone, I have multiple txt files (arround 3000 txts) for example: Fantasy00r.txttom.txt lion.txt car12.txt world-z.txt ten.txt 999.txt All the above txts have the same text inside : "Blah blah blah blah blah REPLACEME blah blah blah blah blah REPLACEME blah blah blah REPLACEME blah blah blah REPLACEME" I want to replace the word REPLACEME in every single txt with the corresponsive name of the txt file. In Fantasy00r.txt for example, text after the edit must be "Blah blah blah blah blah Fantasy00r blah blah blah blah blah Fantasy00r blah blah blah Fantasy00r blah blah blah RFantasy00r" Is there any cmd command perhaps with append or any script that could help me? Many thank you in advance [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Aug 2018 06:32 PM PDT Hi all! I ran into a problem with my pc after not being turned on in a few weeks. Blue screens, slow load times etc... so I decided to try a system restore knowing that I had one when I stopped turning it on. Tried but blue-screened during restore now, my C: drive is my backup drive and my Backup-drive (D:) has become C:. I try to boot but it either sits on the spinning circle or it blue-screens with driver verified problems. I have been able to change the volume letters by using diskpart and assigning and removing but it doesn't stay after boot. What's causing it to change? I've also changed some Regedit keys to attempted to allocate the correct letter or the correct drive but to no avail. I cannot System restore as my Old C drive had it on and my D drive doesn't... Anyone know why this happens or the solution? Thanks. [link] [comments]
How does license work with Windows 10? Posted: 01 Aug 2018 12:33 PM PDT I bought Windows 10 Pro and didn't get any serial code. If I want to format my computer, how does it work? And is this attached to this computer and it's motherboard or my Microsoft account? [link] [comments]

Windows Reset Boot Loop on a 32GB eMMC Drive Posted: 01 Aug 2018 12:31 PM PDT So my friend basically destroyed his PC by installing too much software on one of those budget laptops. We tried uninstalling stuff but the computer was just straight up unresponsive to any changes, so I was just like "lol okay let's just reset", but it's bootlooping between 64%-65%. I used my main PC to create a restore drive, but none of the options there are of any help. And I'm not finding many solutions through Google. I don't want to fresh install windows because I don't want to risk his license disappearing when I reinstall, but I might have to. Any last ditch ideas before I do that? [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Aug 2018 04:16 AM PDT I installed Ubuntu on HDD of 1 TB, and then Windows 10 on SSD. The dual boot menu is not showing at the beginning and boots straight to Windows. On Windows, it shows only the 120GB SSD. When I click properties, it shows the HDD but no folders or anything. How can I access my HDD? If required I am willing to uninstall Ubuntu. But don't know how to do it now. Please help. [link] [comments]
Computer freezes randomly for a few seconds Posted: 01 Aug 2018 05:36 AM PDT About 2 weeks ago, after i reinstalled windows, the computer started to randomly freeze every few days and then resume a few seconds later. The freezes causes all usb devices to disconnect and freeze the monitor image and sound. This lasts for about 5-6 seconds and then everything goes back to normal. I haven't been able to determine a real reason for the freeze, the temperatures are normal and the components werent usually stressed when the freeze happened. My theory is that my HDD is starting to die out(About a year ago it started making crackling noises) and it's causing windows to freeze. Laptop and charger turn off with kernel power 41 error and doesn't turn back on for 2 mins Posted: 01 Aug 2018 03:02 AM PDT Seems to only happen when playing certain games(eg: pubg) for 15-20 mins. The laptop powers off and so does the led on the power brick. I usually have to unplug/re-plug my charger and wait for 2 minutes before I can turn it back on. It used to only happen once a week or so, but is starting to get more often. Tried monitoring temps, but they only seem to be in the low 60s-70s when it happens. Have tried running windows memory test which didn't show any issues and playing around with power settings. I'm also using nvidia's latest drivers. The laptop is only 2 years old, but out of warranty, so hoping its not a motherboard issue. Would appreciate any advice on diagnosing this. specs: Laptop: Clevo p650rs-g Cpu: i7 6700hq GPU: Nvidia 1070 os: Win 10 home ver. 1607 [link] [comments]

Dividing folders into sections Posted: 01 Aug 2018 10:38 AM PDT I need to know if there's a way to divide a folder into sections without using sub-folders. For work I have physical files that have sub files for things like shipping info, customer correspondence, order processing, and each sub-folder has documents pertaining to that category. And then on my pc I have corresponding folders set up the same way with sub-folders. What I want to do is instead of going back and forth through each individual subfolder is there a way to set up the mother folder with open sections with the documents all out on display, just grouped and organized into their appropriate sections? One keycap not working in native language Posted: 01 Aug 2018 09:14 AM PDT Hey I have had this strange problem since last week after a windows update. One of my language specific keys (nordic ö) is no longer working. If I change the language to English the key works fine. What's even stranger is that the key is not even registered when using the software keyboard within windows... It has nothing to do with the keyboard, I've uninstalled it and rebooted several times and there are no drivers needed. This is some windows specific witchery. [link] [comments]

Using Function loaded from ntdll Posted: 01 Aug 2018 01:16 AM PDT First of all, I know that there are more reliable ways to access the PEB structure but I wanted to use a function manually loaded from a dll ... Anyway, can someone explain me why won't this code execute? I already used LoadLibrary() and GetProcAddress() to find the address of the function but it is still marked as undefined when I call it
