Google Assistant still not working for OP5?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2018 06:17 PM PDT

Is anyone else still having issues with "Ok Google" not working? It was supposedly fixed already according to this https://support.google.com/assistant/thread/223040?hl=en, but it's still broken for me. I've tried disabling and reenabling as well as restarting. Nothing is working. The Google app did update today as well.

OnePlus 3 plays a creepy song at random

    Posted: 09 Aug 2018 11:59 AM PDT

Hey hey, I have a question!

My dad's phone (he doesn't know how to reddit, so I'm writing this) plays at random this song while no apps are active. It's the song 'gasoline' and it's creeping us out.

It plays at random, sometimes even at night and we don't know why and how it's possible. Does anyone else has this problem before or a solution? It's been going on for a few months right now.

If this isn't allowed, I'll delete it.

    Thanks in advance!

Spell checker underlines seem to be working again, finally!

    Posted: 09 Aug 2018 03:10 PM PDT

After months and months of a bug preventing the underlining of misspelled words using Gboard and 8.1, it appears Google has finally corrected the bug. Misspelled words now have a blue underline (as opposed to the old red underline).

This bug affected all phones that ran 8.1 and used gboard as the keyboard.

I did notice the underlining doesn't work in Google Keep, which is strange, but this bug being fixed is definitely something I'm more than happy/relieved about...the fact that this bug existed for so long is still a mystery that I'll never understand.

Cheers to colleagues and clients no longer thinking I'm a 3rd grader!

Edit: who downvotes a post like this? Lol. That's like downvoting a post about alert slider customizability coming out in the next OOS, it only benefits users. Smh, smh

anyone else coming from an iPhone to Oneplus?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2018 10:42 AM PDT

so after several years with iOS at my fingertips I've decided that I need a change.

I've made the mistake back in the day to but Samsung's S2 when it launched and after a few months of terrile bloat interface, I switched back to iOS (and that was my overall opinion about android)

next month I want to buy myself an OP6 for a reason: speed and durability.

am I making a good decision?

Android P on my Oneplus 5T

    Posted: 09 Aug 2018 03:23 AM PDT

    Hi all,

Just a quick post to share my experience running the Android P GSI Treble port on my beloved OP5T.

In a nutshell, it's great! The majority of features are working. So far I have working:

    • Fingerprint Scanner (worked out of the box)
    • Fingerprint Swipe Gesture (worked out of the box)
    • Double Tap to Wake (had to enable using a kernel manager, the one in Pie's settings doesn't work)
    • Bluetooth (with Wear OS and Huawei Watch 2)
    • Android Pay (after flashing Magisk 16.7)
    • Can't test VoLTE as my carrier doesn't support it
    • Digital wellbeing

    Not working:

    • Ambient/Always on Display
    • Camera (works in Snapchat/Insta etc but not great in dedicated apps, may just need a better APK).
    • Lift to Check Phone

To install I followed the instructions in this XDA post (thank you thank you thank you), with a couple of additional steps...after installing Mokee and flashing noverity I did a format data, and the same after flashing the GSI image and POST zips (after steps 5 and 11). If I didn't format data I was just stuck on the Google boot screen forever (waiting 45 mins). I also had to reflash the noverity zip after step 11.

    Additional things:

    • I flashed the RedFlar Treble kernel from here.
    • I used blu spark twrp 3.2.3 recovery from here

If I think of anything else I'll add it here, or if I get anything else working!

    Good luck all!

Update: I have a working always on display by following the steps in this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77287444&postcount=1357

Only 15 days of warranty? You serious OnePlus?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2018 12:27 AM PDT

My OnePlus 6 Dash charger has serious issues cycling through slow/normal/fast charging, turning off and starting all over again. Contacted the support and explained the problem included with a video.

    Their reacting was very short:

"As I understand there is an issue with the OnePlus Dash charger. Unfortunately, we can only replace the Dash charger after 15 days of purchase."

Can I do anything to get a new charger? Live in the Netherlands/EU. Bought the phone from a popup store @launch.

Indian dash charger in the US

    Posted: 09 Aug 2018 08:09 PM PDT

The Indian dash charger, which operates between 200V and 240V, shouldn't work in the US where they use 110V. Still, has anyone gone that extra mile and tested his Indian charger in the US? Can you confirm if dash charge works?

Applying the Orzly (or any) tempered glass screen protector on OP6

    Posted: 09 Aug 2018 02:11 PM PDT

The Orzly tempered glass screen protector is a great product, once applied, you wouldn't know it's there if it weren't for the black borders cutting off some of the screen.

After some trial and error, I've found the best way to apply the Orzly tempered glass screen protector (or probably any screen protector with a black border) on my OP 6 is to put the default case on the device first, then apply the screen protector as far as possible in the top left corner of the screen.

The case won't allow you to apply it in a way that blocks the earpiece or proximity sensor, and by applying it as high up as possible, the the black border won't block any of the notification bar area, and by making it to the left, the left side of the screen will not be blocked.

    More details

I've noticed that this prevents noticing the black border cutting off the screen (key word is noticing, as you can't avoid the black border blocking some part of the screen). I feel blocking the bottom and right side is the least intrusive in day to day use, as most text reads from left to right, and having less cut off on the left is best, especially if you use Reddit apps that have sub comments indented by colors (e.g., Sync Reddit app). And the navigation buttons are positioned pretty high from the bottom of the screen, so it's not noticeable that some is being cut off.

Using this approach I don't notice any screen cutoff.

Just my two cents! I hope this helps at least one poor soul.

Bonus tip, if you mess up applying one screen protector, use it as a template for how you want to position the next one (I.E., test out your most used apps to see what gets cut off, and how best to avoid it), rather than getting violently upset and immediately chucking it in the garbage.

    Pixel 3 or OP6?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2018 01:57 PM PDT

I realize many of you are biased on this front but for the past few weeks I have been counting down the days to the P3 release until the other day when I saw an article claiming it's only going to have 4gb of ram. While it seems petty to complain about, I'd be spending nearly a grand on this new phone so it's making me give the OP6 a real hard look and... damn is that phone sexy.

I guess my hesitation is that, for half the price, it seems too good to be true. Is the OP6 really comparable to the pixel and other flagships at only half the cost? Also, how organic is OxygenOS? I assume the bloat is fairly minimal but there must be a reason it's not AOSP.

    Thanks in advance.

Anyone Coming from Original Pixel XL?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2018 09:58 AM PDT

I have absolutely loved my Pixel XL, I've been waiting for the Pixel 3 XL but not loving the leaks. Cants stand the DEEP notch and cant justify for the price. I'm wondering if anyone had a Pixel XL before owning the OP6? How was the transition? What do you miss? How does the camera hold up?

Upgrading from HTC One M8 to OnePlus 6

    Posted: 09 Aug 2018 01:54 AM PDT

Hey folks, after using my HTC one m8 for around 4 years, I am looking for a new mobile. After searching for countless mobiles, I'm gravitating towards the OP6. Before pulling the trigger, I would like to ask something.

Is there a big leap in technology between the HTC M8 and OnePlus 6, in terms of screen resolution, battery life, features etc? Many apologies if this sounds like a stupid question, but I will appreciate your reply.

OnePlus 6. Nova flicker when using gestures.

    Posted: 09 Aug 2018 04:02 AM PDT

When navigation gestures are enabled there is a noticeable flicker and jump as it returns to the homescreen on nova launcher. The animation doesn't work properly. When using standard buttons it's fine. Anyone else noticed this?

    Bullets VS. wireless bullets

    Posted: 09 Aug 2018 12:08 PM PDT

I have been really enjoying the wired bullets these last months after buying a OP6. Lately I have been looking into getting a pair of wireless earbuds for using at the gym. Anyone here tried both of them? If they are comparable I might pick them up if they come back in stock.

    Tempered glass for OnePlus 5T

    Posted: 09 Aug 2018 08:18 AM PDT

So, the tempered glass on the oneplus website is no more. Will it ever come back? I am trying to get more of these because they do a hell of a job.

Has anyone ever used any 3rd party tempered glass screen protectors?

The official one plus screen protector has saved me twice already.

    OnePlus Dialer

    Posted: 09 Aug 2018 08:02 AM PDT

Coming from a Nexus 6P and Google dialer, I've already accidentally hung up numerous calls by swiping up on the button. Since I don't have another phone to test right now, how do you answer calls on the OnePlus Dialer?
