Any return of experience on the gigabyte aero 15x v8 now that some time has passed? Posted: 09 Aug 2018 01:47 PM PDT I'm especially interested in battery life as I plan on getting mine from hidevolution which should give a proper QC. [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Aug 2018 01:17 PM PDT I am starting University this September doing Computer Games Programming and I am wondering if i should invest in a laptop, if so what one would you recommend? I will be taking my desktop PC which is decent: i7-3770k, 8GB RAM, no SSD, GTX 760. [link] [comments]

Will we ever get chinese AMD Zen laptops? Posted: 09 Aug 2018 12:54 PM PDT So now i'm waiting for AMD Zen laptops to hit the market. I was going to buy the Cube Thinker i35, and the Core M3 7Y30 does suit my needs well, but surely waiting more will help. I can imagine in the coming two generations or so, (maybe if pushed by AMD) that we will have 4c in the 4.5w envelope, at a very low base frequency, but a decent turbo. AMD's 7nm process APUs (when they arrive :P ) will really help out, and i do value my graphics performance, but more importantly, graphics efficiency. But even then i don't mind a fan cooled laptop, i only don't like it when it's a tiny fan making a hell of a noise. Fanless is good for chinese laptops as usually they have silly fan curves. Laptops - XPS 13 2-in-1 or Inspiron 13 2-in-1 Posted: 09 Aug 2018 11:44 AM PDT Hello there, I'm having trouble picking between two laptops. On one hand, we have the Dell XPS 13 XPS9365-7742SLV-PUS 2 in 1 PC.Screen size: 13.3 in Full HD InfinityEdge touchscreen (1920 x 1080), 10-finger multi-touch support Processor: Intel Core i7-7Y75 Memory 8GB LPDDR3 1866 MHz Hard drive size 256GB SSD Operating system: WIndows 10 Pro, 64-bit PC type: 2 in 1 Battery 4-cell 46WHr* Camera Widescreen 720p HD infrared webcam Wireless Intel 8265 802.11ac 2x2 WiFi and Bluetooth Bluetooth Bluetooth 4.2 Dimensions 11.98 x 7.80 x 0.32-0.54 in (304.29 x 198.12 x 8.38-13.71 mm) Weight 2.70 lbs (1.22 kg) Backlit keyboard • Windows Hello compliant infrared facial recognition camera • TPM • Noble lock slot On the other hand, we have the Dell Inspiron 13 i5379-7302GRY-PUS 2 in 1 PC.Display 13.3 in Full HD IPS TrueLife LED-backlit touchscreen (1920 x 1080), 10-finger multi-touch support Processor Intel Core i7-8550U 8MB cache, up to 4.00 GHz Hard drive size 256GB SSD PC type 2 in 1 Battery 3-cell 42WHr Camera 720p HD webcam with integrated widescreen, plus dual digital microphone array Wireless 802.11ac + Bluetooth 4.1, Dual Band 2.4&5 GHz, 2x2 Bluetooth Bluetooth 4.1 Dimensions 12.76 x 8.85 x 0.77–0.80 in (324.80 x 224.40 x 19.55-20.20 mm) Colour Gray Windows Hello compliant infrared facial recognition camera • Backlit keyboard They're both going for roughly the same price, but people seem to despise the Inspiron and love the XPS 13. I'd just like to know where the differences are. I'm looking for simple office work, so I don't need a super beefy computer. [link] [comments]
Help installing another storage drive on my Acer Nitro 5 (pictures included). Posted: 09 Aug 2018 10:27 AM PDT I'm trying to upgrade my Acer Nitro 5 (which has two empty bays on the bottom specifically meant for upgrading, one for installing another storage drive and one for putting another stick of RAM in) The laptop didn't come with this black connector in place, I had to call Acer and order it, which means I also have to install it myself. In any case, I know that the long black part plugs into the drive and the smaller end goes somewhere in my laptop, I just have no idea where/how. Here are some pictures of the piece in question and the bay where I'm supposed to be putting it: https://imgur.com/a/boiuC60. I know that the silver thing goes on top, and I'm supposed to screw it in with the screws, I just don't know how to get the connector connected to the laptop in the first place. In this video, the guy installed the black piece without showing it: https://youtu.be/1QmvTcGbtwc?t=102. That gives me an idea of where it should go, but I have no idea how to get it in there. When I try to look at the spot he's installed it I don't see any slots or anything. Is it not meant to just be plugged in from the bay, and I have to take off the entirety of the bottom of the laptop to access the connection point? TLDRI don't know how to get the wire that connects the drive to my laptop into my laptop. I just don't know where it goes, and I can't find the slot it plugs into through the dedicated upgrade bay. Does this mean I have to take off the entirety of the bottom of the laptop and find where it connects? Or am I missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments]

Cant Choose a Laptop to Save My Life Posted: 09 Aug 2018 03:33 AM PDT Hey! So I'm currently browsing laptops to finally replace my Lenovo y70 Touch, it's been running like a champ but I definitely want a more up to date computer for work. So far I've narrowed my potential choices down to 4 laptops: Lenovo yoga 920, XPS 15 2-in-1, HMBxP, Microsoft surface book 2. I do some media creation and some light gaming, namely overwatch which has been running well on medium settings with the GeForce 860. Just can't seem to really pick one that seems like the best of the bunch. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Am I making a huge mistake buying this? Posted: 09 Aug 2018 09:00 AM PDT

Intel Core i7 8550U 12 GB RAM 256 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce MX150 This refurbished laptop with a 2 year warranty is $735 all in. I'm open to any suggestions. [link] [comments]

Looking for a capable laptop for college Posted: 08 Aug 2018 09:31 PM PDT Hi, I have been doing a little bit of searching for a new laptop for college this fall. I have a good background in computers but I just want a little bit of justification and reassurance on my choices. I currently am using a MacBook Pro 2016 model since I mostly work with software and do not really need that much power for playing games all that often. However I do feel a lot that the MBP does not deliver the power I need nor the storage. I would like to buy something with a little bit more power and storage. I would be using this laptop to play games and CAD. I have been eyeing a Dell G7 laptop at around $1300 USD (https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-laptops/dell-g7-15-gaming/spd/g-series-15-7588-laptop/dncwfsb807s). Is this a good choice, a big point of this also is I do not want something silly looking and big / obnoxious. Thank you! [link] [comments]
Laptop Aspire 5 Intel core I5 7 Gen, is it good for Premiere & after effects? Posted: 09 Aug 2018 08:04 AM PDT I do some motion graphics and video and image editing but the company wants to buy a new laptop so I won't have to bring mine to work. Is this computer good? [link] [comments]
Can someone help me choose a laptop Posted: 09 Aug 2018 07:27 AM PDT I have a budget of £1000 and I'm looking for a gaming laptop that is also sufficient for productivity (premiere pro, after effects). I had the MSI ge62vr 7rf in mind, however, it is no longer available for me to purchase, so I'm searching for a laptop with fairly similar specs (gtx 1060 3gb, i7 7700hq [2.8Ghz]) etc. I would also prefer if the laptop had minimum red accent because it's not something that I like. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Can't make a decision on what laptoo to get - help me choose. Posted: 09 Aug 2018 07:18 AM PDT I've been looking around and doing research for weeks now and I can't make up my mind on what to get. I'm a computer science major in uni right now and I want something that will last me at least 3 to 4 years. I've narrowed down my top picks to: -MBP 13" -Xps 13 -Matebook X Pro. I'm not limiting myself to any of these, so if you guys have any other suggestions I'll gladly take them. I'm a big sucker for aesthetics and good screen/small bezels, so I'm really close to pulling the trigger on the matebook, but the untested durability and all the small problems people have been having with the trackpad, heat, frame freezing, etc. is making me hesitate. I'm also shying away from the mac just because I don't really think the price premium is worth it for me. I don't really care about gaming on this, got a desktop for that. My budget is roughly $1000-$1500, obviously lower would be better but I want the best value for price. Any suggestions/advice is appreciated. [link] [comments]

Adobe premiere Pro on surface Pro? Posted: 09 Aug 2018 06:31 AM PDT My girlfriend is asking me for help in researching a laptop for some moderate to light video editing in premiere for college, and is looking at the cheapest surface book 2,with the i5 and 8gb of ram, integrated graphics. Has anyone tried running premiere on this thing, if so, how is it? [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Aug 2018 12:28 AM PDT I'm thinking of buying RAZER BLADE 15 but let me give you a little backdrop so you guys can understand my situation. I'm based in India and apparently razor do not ship here. I know someone where this laptop will be delivered in states and later shipped to India. I have a company here and do some coding, photoshop, heavy browsing (50-60 browser tabs at any time) and pubG at times. I read mix reviews about this machine and before making final call, I need to make sure that this will be best option for me. [link] [comments]
Posted: 09 Aug 2018 05:17 AM PDT So far it has been my number one choice for a new laptop and am very willing to get it. However, the only thing that holds me back is that a friend of mine's laptop died after 3 weeks and I've been told that Razer support is terrible. People who own it, how has it been so far? Would you recommend it? [link] [comments]
Can you somehow check if an old laptop is working without a charger or a hard drive? Posted: 08 Aug 2018 10:44 PM PDT So my friend offered me a Samsung laptop from 2013 but he has lost the charger and there is no hard drive. Can I somehow check if the computer still works? [link] [comments]
