Hard drive is dead. Need to save thousands of pictures lost. Recovering tools not helping. Posted: 02 Aug 2018 03:30 PM PDT Hi everyone. One of my old HD's died. It had thousands of pic that I can't lose. Would you recommend any recovery tool that could save the files? or save the HD so that I can later access the pictures? USB-based tools are ok too. I just don't know what to try anymore. Thanks in advance for your help. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Aug 2018 02:25 AM PDT I know I know this sounds silly/stupid... I've recently reinstalled Windows XP MCE 2005 back on my old computer (need to for software issues) and after installing SP3 the System Properties page shows that it's MCE 2002. I know this was a known bug by Microsoft but I'm wondering if there is any way to fix it or to manually change that data via registry or files. I know it's silly but it's just something I want fixed. Posted: 03 Aug 2018 03:54 AM PDT I have a 1080ti which I've updated drivers for. I even uninstalled graphic card drivers and then reinstalled them too. I use 2 displays - Monitor 1 is the 240hz 1080p Acer Predator. Monitor 2 is the 1440p 165hz XB271HU. Is there something wonky going on with the different resolutions and refresh rates? Could that be a reason? This issue kinda just happened overnight. Not sure what could've caused this. I just turned on my PC and it showed up like this and hasn't gone away since about two days ago. Hoping I won't have to RMA this. All help appreciated and let me know if I need to provide extra info. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Blue Yeti microphone not receiving power Posted: 03 Aug 2018 03:38 AM PDT I've happened to notice while looking for a solution to this that a lot of Yeti Mics have a lot of issues... yikes. My issue kinda confusing, just like every other day I had been using my microphone, working perfectly fine, and then suddenly the light in the mute button goes out and the mic disconnects. I've changed cords, updated/uninstalled/reinstalled drivers, factory reset my computer, and nothing seems to have worked. What's my fix? Or am I shelling out a lot more money to get a new mic? My agency knows my personal password, doesn't encrypt? Posted: 03 Aug 2018 03:31 AM PDT My employer recently sent me an email with my username and password, but it was my personal password that i created when I signed up. When i asked them how they knew my password and if they encrypted, they just responded saying that only i can see the email and they cant. that sounds like total bs to me. can anyone confirm my paranoia? Will making a HDD partition fix my 100% disk usage Posted: 03 Aug 2018 03:30 AM PDT Hello, I have Lenovo laptop with windows 10. I have this weird problem, when i try to install a game my disk usage in task manager rises to 100%. Installation slows down to the point where installing a 20gb game can take up to 14hours. I tired all the tutorial/fixes on the internet (disabling superfetch, defraging, removing malware, updating drivers etc..) but none helped. I thought maybe my HDD is scratched or damaged. So maybe if i make a new partition and reinstall widndows to that new partition it will fix my problem? and I really can't buy a new hard drive right now. If you have faced similar problem your self please share, thank you. [link] [comments]
Reset my computer after getting virus, hacker is still able to access my email Posted: 03 Aug 2018 03:13 AM PDT I got hit by a virus recently and I don't know what to do or how to stop this hacker. I've reinstalled my OS and reset my passwords + enabled two factor authentication. The hacker is still able to get in my email and thus, access my other accounts. The weirdest part is that on the day I got hacked, I noticed a new device appearing (logging in from a different location), but after I reinstalled my OS, it seems the new device's information merged with my newly reset pc. Today, the hacker froze my crypto account while trying to break through the two factor authentication. I don't know what I can do to stop this person. Please let me know if you've got some advice. Below is a timeline of everything that has transpired.
I'm still changing my passwords right now, but I honestly don't know what to do. After breaking into my Binance account, he got my account frozen from so many login attempts. He then submitted a "lost authentication key" form. I cancelled the form, but I don't know what I can do to save my account. This is driving me insane. Unable to backup C: drive with Veeam nor Macrium, access denied error every attempt. Posted: 02 Aug 2018 11:21 PM PDT Hello there, I was wondering if I could get some help in backing up my C: drive - I'm having issues with an error that's present in both Veeam Backup Agent and Macrium Reflect: both end up spouting an 'access denied error' when attempting to do a volume backup. Here is a screenshot of the error that Veeam ends up with. As well as the full text from the error:

My previously fried gpu is now working fine somehow? Posted: 02 Aug 2018 08:57 PM PDT About two months ago, my graphics card overheated, and I assumed it was fried/dead/whatever. My screen would be messed up, while everything else ran completely fine. I booted up my computer to get some images off of it today, and now everything looks completely fine. Ive gotten some joking around from friends saying it's a "zombie graphics card", but I'm honestly confused, why is it suddenly working fine? [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Aug 2018 04:45 AM PDT I'm Australian, and we're known for having terrible internet. Sites such as pixiv, nexusmodsmanager and tumblr take a long time to load, while other sites such as Youtube load instantly. I can watch a 3-hour long video in 1080p60FPS and have no buffering at all. But as once as I try a different site, it buffers almost constantly. I've called my ISP, and they always tell me to go to speedtest.net, which reports my speed at 45mbps (Which is what it's meant to be) and then they hang up. Why is speedtest.net inaccurate? I've tried ozspeedtest, speedofme, Google's Speedtest and many more. They all report slow speeds except for speedtest.net. [link] [comments]

Someone Has Been Using My Information Posted: 03 Aug 2018 04:34 AM PDT This is my first time ever using reddit, but I came here in search for answers. I'm not even sure if I'm using this right, but here we go. Let's just start from the very beginning. So about 3 weeks ago, I was checking through my email, and I had received an email from AARP. I found this pretty strange as #1, I am in highschool and #2, I had never used that site. The contents of the email said, "Thank you for signing up for an AARP account, click the link below to recieve your invoice." I disregarded the email at the time, think that someone may have accidentally typed in my email while signing up for an account. Even then, that would be very unlikely as my name is very unique and I have yet to meet anyone else who has the same first name as me. But I didn't think much of it and emailed back saying that I didn't sign up for such an account, and that I don't want anymore emails for them. But then, about 5 days later, I got mail from AARP. I realized that the possibility of someone putting in my email on accident couldn't exist anymore, as I had gotten mail with both MY name on it and MY address on it. I started to get a little weirded out at this point, because this meant that someone out there not only knew my name and email, but also my physical address. However, I didn't know what to really do about it, so I just let it be for now. A week after that, I got an email from Kohl's. It said, "Thank you for signing up for a Shop My Way rewards account. Click the link below to activate your account." I just want to mention that all these emails were from the legit businesses, and not a phishing attempt from a fake email. When I got this email, I knew for sure that something was up and someone was using my information to sign up for these things. Again, I emailed back and said that I didn't sign up for such an account. It's currently 4:24 AM. I haven't been able to sleep because about 2 hours ago, I got another email. This one was from Apple, saying, "You recently requested a password reset for your Apple ID. To complete the process, click the link below." I quickly reset my password to make sure nobody had to access to it, and then signed up for two-step verification from Google to make sure that nobody could get into my email, in case they had my Google password as well. Now, I've come here for help. Is there any way I can figure out who is doing this, and how to make them stop? These emails have been bothering me and worrying me a lot, and I just need to find a way to at least figure out who's doing all of this. I'm hoping someone on the internet has a solution for me. Been using Paint.Net and my laptop's C: drive seems to be filling up for no reason. Help? Posted: 03 Aug 2018 04:34 AM PDT A couple of days ago or so, when I last checked I had about 5GBs of free space in my C: drive (out of 440GBs, not a lot I know). I've been using Paint.Net to edit hundreds of pics lately, but all the pictures I'm editing and saving are located in an external hard drive, so this shouldn't be affecting my laptop's memory space at all, right? The only thing that's located on my laptop is the actual Paint program, but I've looked around and it doesn't seem to have any temporary-files like folders or anything. I've been editing pics now one by one and checking if it affects the C:'s remaining space, and it does: it keeps fluctuating from 200MBs, 400MBs, 437MBs, 508MBs, etc. Could this be related to all the image editing I'm doing, or could it be something else? I'm really not tech savvy at all, sorry :/. Laptop model: HP Pavilion g6. Any help is greatly appreciated. (I also haven't been downloading anything except a picture or two here and there, so I have absolutely no clue where those 5GBs I thought I had went) [link] [comments]
Easyanticheat found as hosts file with Rkill. Something to be worried about? Posted: 03 Aug 2018 04:30 AM PDT Hello. I just finished the malware guide, and everything seems fine. However I get shown easyanticheat as hosts file entries with Rkill. 16GB Ram Does not Work in Dual-Channel Mode, Only Single Channel Posted: 02 Aug 2018 09:45 AM PDT What is your parts list? Consider formatting your parts list. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
Describe your problem. List any error messages and symptoms. Be descriptive. Motherboard ram slots go 1-3-2-4 Dual channel when in (A) 1-2 or (B) 3-4 slots. My 16GB ram will not work when using either configurations for dual channel. Windows will read 16GB installed, but only 8GB usable. Task manager says that 8GB of ram is Hardware Reserved. Furthermore if I enable XMP it causes a bootloop, so the RAM is stuck at 2133 Mhz if it does boot. When the ram is installed single channel mode, using slots (C) 1-3 or (D) 2-4, Windows is able to use the full 16GB and XMP is able to boot, running at 3200 Mhz. List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem. I first tried each stick individually in each slot by itself to see if both RAM sticks and each RAM slot on the motherboard works. For the dual channel mode, I tried setting only 2400 MHz but it still causes bootloop. So far if I put the RAM in single channel the full 16gb is able to be used at 3200 MHz. Provide any additional details you wish below. BIOS is updated to latest version and the RAM is not on the motherboard's QVL. Audio from computer being routed to microphone? Posted: 02 Aug 2018 08:46 PM PDT So, this is an interesting issue that I'm trying to correct. I'm running Windows 10, using a headset and external microphone both connected to the front audio jacks (though the issue occurs even using the rear audio jack). I am currently having an issue where sounds from my computer (such as when listening to music) are being routed to my microphone input, thus allowing people in any voice chat to hear my music or videos or whatnot. When my mic is unmuted, this audio typically is well below the input sensitivity, so isn't noticed. But if I either unplug the mic (on the mic side, not the computer side) or use the hardware mute on the mic, it is suddenly well above the input sensitivity limit and gets transmitted/recorded/etc. I did not notice this issue until after installing (and subsequently uninstalling) VoiceMod and Clownfish - two programs used for voice modulation, especially for common voice chat programs like Discord/Skype/TS3. The two programs were not installed at the same time. I have since checked my device manager and do not see any audio input or output devices that shouldn't be there. I also tried uninstalling my Realtek audio manager from the device manager and then reinstalled, and the issue persists. I'd really rather not have to wipe my OS and reinstall because of this issue -_- If anyone has any advice on what I can do, please let me know; I'd appreciate any help I can get. Thank you! Edit: I do have a Steelseries external soundcard (which ironically gives lower audio quality with my new much better headset) that plugs in via USB. When I use that sound card, I do not have the issue with audio being routed to my microphone. In the meantime, I'm using a workaround of having my headphones plugged into the front audio jack and my microphone in the external card, but it's not optimal... Outlook 2010 - Accessibility settings Posted: 03 Aug 2018 04:15 AM PDT Hi guys I work as a service desk technical analyst and I had a call today from a user who has a very odd and specific eye condition which means she can only read black arial font text over an off-white non offensive background so that it doesn't bloom. The text size is okay but it needs to be just thick enough not to blend in with the background but not bold enough so that it blends in with itself. I've changed most of her windows settings in personalization to reflect this. She uses Outlook on a daily basis for most of the day and the navigation pane on the left hand side is unreadable for her. She spent the best part of 12 months changing this to be perfect around 3 years ago but recently her laptop had reset and lost these settings, I spent 40 minutes googling and browsing and adjusting settings but I can only change the background colour to three different colours. Outlook will only allow blue, grey/black or silver and all of these are too illegible for her to read on top of. She said she remembers going into the start menu and finding the option that allowed her to customize all her colours but this sounded to me like the personalisation setting within windows which I have already adjusted for her with no difference. Shes running Windows 7 and Outlook 2010. Any advice on how to customise this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all! [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Aug 2018 04:03 AM PDT Just got a brand new monitor ( Iiyama G-Master GB2488HSU-B3). It's 1080p, 24 inch and has 144HZ. Pretty happy with it, although there's one issue: there's a pixel which is always white (hot pixel) close to the middle-left bezel of the screen. What's your recommendation: should I try to get it repaired, or should I just let it be? It's only visible on black surfaces, and then it's still just the size of one pixel (of the 1.000.000+ displayed). [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Aug 2018 04:02 AM PDT So what's happening is that when someone sends a message or a picture in our little group-chat, the chat window doesn't move all the way down to the bottom - it shows the top of the picture posted, and rarely any part of the text sent. It seems to only scroll down just a tad, and I have to manually take care of the rest, so if that friend that presses enter after every word (we all have one of those) writes something I have to scroll a fair bit down manually. I understand that it would be insane to auto-scroll to try and follow a conversation in many places with a lot of users (i.e Twitch-chat), but in a group chat on Messenger with 10 or so people this irks me. I'm having the exact same problem in both Firefox at work, and in Chrome at home - so this is happening on two different browsers on two different machines. Could it be a smooth-scrolling issues? Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
