Snapchat 10.40.0 adds support for adaptive icons and notification channels! Posted: 29 Aug 2018 06:02 PM PDT Just got the latest Snapchat 10.40.0.0 update on the Play store, and it adds adaptive icons, and also begins implementing notification channels! Finally! I've uploaded the APK to APK Mirror. Just waiting on the admins to approve the file and it'll be available for download on the site. It's worth noting that the target SDK is still 23 - aka Android 6.0 Marshmallow. But including these features is definitely a step in the right direction. [link] [comments]

Using dark mode in messages triggers maps dark mode. Posted: 29 Aug 2018 12:33 PM PDT Was using messages in dark mode and suddenly the splash screen of maps turned to dark mode. However the app remained the same as dark mode is not implemented fully. But it means that enabling dark mode will trigger dark mode for every google app in the near future. [link] [comments]

Android Messages, the future of Google's chat service. Posted: 29 Aug 2018 08:56 AM PDT I love Android Messages. Ever since I got my first Android phone I have used it nearly every day. I have tried different SMS services like Textra, Pulse, and others, but none have felt as clean and we'll constructed as AM. That being said, there is ONE thing I wish that AM supported that others do by default: support for multiple devices. Similar to iMessage, Pulse SMS offers multiple device support so you can see your messages on your Phone, Tablet, PC, and smartwatch. I have also used a similar application called Pushbullet to receive "pushed" message notifications on my tablet and in Google Chrome. But this service is clunky and not as clean as AM. So, bottom line, while Android Messages is a wonderful, powerful, and clean SMS App, can it compete with iMessage without cross-device support? And more importantly, if it did, would you use it? I for one, have long awaited a day when Android Messages could be accessed via tablet and chrome extension. Their new Web App and push for RCS rather than SMS is a step in the right direction, but as an Android user, I would love to see tablet support (I know that Android tablets are kind of phasing out but I still love using mine) and dedicated chrome os app or extension as Chromebooks continue to become more popular. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
