    Xiaomi M365 scooter uphill?

    Posted: 02 Jul 2018 05:22 PM PDT

    Hi all,

I've been thinking of buying a M365 scooter recently since i need something to commute to work daily and since the office is about 2-3km away from my place, it doesn't warrant using a car on a daily basis just to drive back and forth and i'm not really interested in buying a bicycle.

What however is worrying me, is that half the way is uphill, its not an extremely steep hill but nonetheless its there.

I wouldn't want to order one of those, wait for a month or two and then find out that it can't handle uphill rides.

    Any advice on the matter?

    Thank you

My Xiaomi Redmi 3 has died. Looking for options.

    Posted: 02 Jul 2018 07:21 PM PDT

Hi all! First time posting here.

When my Moto G 2014 starting to slow up, I decided to look for a new phone, but my budget was pretty tight at that time, so I looked for under $150 phones. After searching for options I came across the Xiaomi Redmi 3. It was an incredible phone for the next two years, great battery and the MIUI fork, although it was weird at first

Sadly, I don't have it anymore, so I'm looking for a replacement. What would be a great phone under $200? I considered the Mi A1 for a while, but his lack of radio and MIUI personalization draws me back off, despite the fact that Android One is very nice. So that leaves me with the Mi 5X

But their battery life is just 3000 mAh, not 4000 mAh like it was before. So what would be another option that haves greater battery life and is still under 200 $?

    Thanks a lot.

Here are some tweaks for customizing the Android user experience using ADB (without root)

    Posted: 02 Jul 2018 04:44 AM PDT

As much as possible, I don't really want to root/unlock my device so these commands/apps are really useful for me. Here are some. Won't work on all ROMs and devices.

For introduction, you can look at the complete list of settings by typing:

    adb shell settings list global

    adb shell settings list system

    adb shell settings list secure

Changing DPI on ROMs that doesn't provide this option cough MIUI cough (I didn't need to use a VPN running the latest MIUI Global Stable)

    Remove bloatware

Stop apps from reading the clipboard

    Freeze background processes

    Fix apps stealing audio focus

    Stop app vibration

    Change SMS limit

Fix broken UI elements after update

Turn on WiFi automatically on high quality saved networks

Customized disabled radios on Airplane mode

    See boot count

    Customize battery saver trigger level

    Customize long press delay

    Enable systemwide immersive mode

    Disable safe volume warning

    Customize battery saver mode

Mi MIX 2 for US Verizon Network`

    Posted: 02 Jul 2018 06:07 PM PDT

Hello all. new to the subreddit here I am very interested in purchasing the Mix 2 for my US Verizon family account. I wanted to confirm the preactivated SIM card in my very old original iPhone 5 that I am currently stuck on will work on the Mix 2.

I read that Verizon will not give me another SIM card for a device outside of their sphere of control so I just wished to confirm that with someone here.

    Thank you!

Xiaomi phone with nfc, ir blaster and USB C port?

    Posted: 02 Jul 2018 04:08 PM PDT

The only phone I could find was mi 5s plus. I'm highly disappointed by the lack of fm radio and ir blaster on mi 8. Should we petition to make xiaomi include this on a newer phone?

Mi 8 vs Mi Mix 2S

    Posted: 02 Jul 2018 10:15 AM PDT

I'm currently looking for a successor of my Mi 5, as its battery is getting worse. The current candidates are, as the title tells, the newly launched Mi 8 and the slightly older Mi Mix 2s. Pricing, rear camera and performance of the two phones seem somewhat similar, the differences really boil down to a few features.

It appears, that the Mi 8 has a taller, slightly more vibrant amoled panel with aod and a better screen to body ratio, 20MP front facing camera, IR face unlock, dual gps and... the notch,

Whereas the mix 2s features the bezel less design, acceptable, stereo sound, wireless charging and a ceramic back.

Also, the mix is currently on oreo 8.0, whilst the Mi 8 has 8.1.

But I still can't decide which to buy. Design wise, I don't really mind the notch, but the mix sure is a step up. Gorgeous, frankly.

However, hardware wise, the Mi 8 seems to has an edge. The aod amoled as well as the ir face unlock (lift up feature!) are really sweet. I can live without wireless charging and the selfie cam also isn't important to me, so that's out of the equation. No idea about dual gps, though.

So I'm asking for some real life advice. Does somebody own a mix 2s, the Mi 8 or even both?
How do you perceive the notch, do you mind not being able to see the notification icons? Does the mix 2s feel chunky, as it's a bit wider and thicker? Does the somewhat hefty chin of the mix make it seem unbalanced? Is the taller Mi 8 still handy? Does the aod make up for the notch? Is the design of the mix worth the hardware drawbacks? What's your opinion on the Mi 8 vs Mi Mix 2S topic?

I'd really appreciate your help and am looking forward to some discussion.

Also, I'm currently on the xiaomi.eu miui 10 beta rom, and it's really sweet. The notifications finally behave as they should in Android oreo...

Are Xiaomi going to release a Redmi Note 5, 6GB, global version?

    Posted: 02 Jul 2018 02:46 PM PDT

Hello guys, I'm about to buy a Redmi Note 5 (not the pro version due the camera).

I was planning to buy the Chinese version (since it has a bit better camera than the Indian version), but then I found that there is a global version. BUT there isn't a 6GB ram global version.

Now my question is, will Xiaomi release a 6GB global version variant? :)

In afraid that if I choose the Chinese version, 4G might not work very good where I live.

Strange sound from a MIX 2

    Posted: 02 Jul 2018 02:26 PM PDT

While charging my Mi MIX 2 makes a sound with 2 notes sometimes when I rest my hand with the phone in it.

In other words, on moment I'm looking at my phone and the next i lay it down. As I lay my phone down it makes the sound. I didn't care at first, but when viewing a snap I lay my phobe down, the sound comes and that reverts the screen away from the snap and open the camera (in snapchat).

Hope someone can understand half of what my dumb brain can come up with here (I'm really bad at explaining. Clinically bad)
