| Note 8 Power Button not Working Posted: 02 Jul 2018 08:52 PM PDT I just got a note 8 from my brother in law. He says the power button doesn't work and he grew tired of it. I'm wondering if there's any way to power the phone off and on without a functioning power button? I need to power the phone off and then on if I were to activate it on my line (Sprint). I tried a repair shop today and he says he doesn't have the part but will look for it; however, no garauntees he'll be able to find it. He also quoted me $90. I want to invest in a new receiver that has Android Auto, but it will only be worth it for me if I can still use the Doordash driver app to accept deliveries. | T Mobile Galaxy S7 Virus Help! Posted: 02 Jul 2018 04:28 PM PDT Hello everyone. I seem to have gotten a virus from a download. The virus in question randomly opens Chrome to an ad, quite frequently. I download Malware Bytes, it found the file in question, however when I try to remove it, I get the "Can't uninstall because this package is an active device administrator" message. When prompted to remove the admin rights, there's nothing besides 2 safe apps (not the cause of the problem, they're Google apps) and nothing else, making my ability to remove its admin features impossible. Is there anyway to remove the priv. rights for deletion, or are my only 2 options to root my phone (the only solution I could find on an old forum post) or wipe it? Edit: Forgot to mention, I have an SD card on this phone. The file was downloaded to internal storage. Is it possible to have spread to my SD, needing a wipe/fix for that as well? Posted: 02 Jul 2018 08:04 PM PDT It looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/EUPPoTT.jpg I was using the Sentio Desktop app and used a modification to it to change dpi and also used their "Change screen ratio to match superbook". It was supposed to change back when I logged out but it never did and nothing I do send to help, it's just stuck in 16:9. Any advice would be appreciated. I have rebooted. Edit: SOLUTION: use android ADB and enter command: This will set your resolution back to stock. This solution will work with any phone on android 7.0 and later, just make sure to swap 1080x2280 with whatever resolution your phone is. [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 02 Jul 2018 09:52 AM PDT As the title implicates I can't root my Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Mido running LineageOS 15.1-20180629 using either the latest official TWRP nor unofficial treble TWRP. In the first case I get the "Can't mount /vendor, ERROR 1" while flashing, in the second case I get a bootloop. What's the prefered way to do it though? I already tried unrooting and patching stock boot.img, nothing worked. But for the record, flashing the official supersu.zip works easily, but I just prefer Magisk. [link] [comments]  |
| Discord turns my audio quality terrible. Posted: 02 Jul 2018 10:01 PM PDT Phone: Huawei P20 Pro Android: Oreo 8.1 EMUI: 8.1 Peripheral: Sony headphones/speaker/Bluetooth headset. Issue: discord app turns media quality to shit. So the issue is when I join a discord server or private call, my audio from any media source (Netflix Spotify YouTube) goes to shit. It's low, it cuts in an out almost as if someone is turning the volume knob up and down on either my mic input or other people's yet not consistently so I am not sure if that is why. Not to mention the calls them self sound like crap (other people's voices). I've tried listening to media while in my phone's regular calls and it sounds perfectly clear with no distortion. The funny thing is if I were in a discord call, then make a real phone call. Discord takes a MAJOR jump in audio quality along with all media sources. So for example if I'm watching Netflix while in a discord call while also on a phone call dialed into my voice box for example. Everything works perfectly, MINUS ONE detail; my mics priority is then forced to my cellphone call. I've had a Sony Xperia Z2 on Android 5 and I never ran into this issue before. I even could make phone calls on my cellphone while in a discord and never lost mic usage for either. They both had access to my mic. Lookin online I see other phones with similar issues. They all seem relatively new phones too. Is this an android issue or select phone issues. any fixes? Or am I doomed to calling my inbox if I'm watching something and then hanging up cause I wanna say something. [link] [comments]  |
| Security - Smart Lock - Trusted places (location) is not working Posted: 02 Jul 2018 02:09 PM PDT I have this problem on the 2 Android devices i own, a phone and a tablet. When I am in my flat I can add a trusted place that indeed shows on a map where I am. But with a Trusted place added for my home location I am still prompted for my PIN code after the screen automatically turns off. Am I being dumb and missing something? | Posted: 02 Jul 2018 04:15 PM PDT I have been having an issue since I got my Moto E4 where Google assistant pops up and starts mentioning something about using google assistant with headphones whenever I have headphones plugged in. It seems like it's a persistent issue that I can't seem to solve. Maybe I need to try headphones that don't have a mic, but I'm not wanting to spend the money if it won't help me out with this one. I was expecting a semi important call, but never received notification of it. So I'm not sure if it's due to DND mode being on, or if the person jusr didn't call (I don't know the person's number, so I can't just call them to see if they called; it was for an interview). | Posted: 02 Jul 2018 08:21 AM PDT Hey guys, I just bought my first Android device, a used Moto G5 Plus off Swappa. It's running Android 7.0 which I did research on and see came out in 2016. My question is, I went to seetings>about phone and hit update and a security update installed, but how do I update to a newer version of Android? SnapChat will not connect to the server. If I uninstall and reinstall the app it will work until I move to data then it stops updating. It seems that it will originally connect but if there is any interruption of connection it can't reconnect. A couple days ago, the origin of the crack started turning purple/black. That quickly spread across the whole screen. I got a new phone, and changed carriers in the process. I need to turn in my cracked, leased phone, but want to wipe it before turning in. Is there any way to access the phone to wipe it with the cracked/unusable screen? I am very sad to see my removable battery go, but I couldn't wait a few days for shipping on a phone that probably wouldn't last much longer anyway. So I just picked up a Galaxy S9+. One of the things LG seems to have gotten right on the G5 was an app called Capture+ that let me take and share screenshots that were only a portion of the screen without saving the image. Posted: 02 Jul 2018 09:47 AM PDT Made the switch from an Apple Iphone a week ago from hearing that I would be able to customize alot more (I actually played arout with the settings and noticed you can change the home touch buttons, which I liked). Kinda have OCD when it comes to customization, so I stayed in settings for 3 hours. Now I have a registered a finger for the fingerprint lock, know how to screenshot, how to pin apps (reddit so I don't lose my place), but I cannot find a way to disable pop-ups from calls when playing a game. "No calls" is on by default in Do not Disturb, and I have checked the contacts app notifications and turning it off seems to not do anything (still getting call pop-ups with DnD on). | Sound delay on any android game with bluetooth headphones. Posted: 02 Jul 2018 02:42 PM PDT So I've recently bought some bluetooth headphones, only to realise weeks later that there is a delay of around 1 second between my games and audio. (Like for example, tapping a button and then hearing the audio cue 1-2 seconds later.) I have this issuse with every game I have on my phone, while music and video's, wether it be locally downloaded or streamed from Youtube, Soundcloud or any other app works perfectly fine.
