Time and time again new features and Hardware have been added to the Samsung smartphone line. It seems that the majority of the smartphone companies are focusing on a bezel-less screen and more cameras and Based on this it's only a matter of time before the smartphone market reaches its limit. I have T-Mobile and I'm not sure if they will have anything but a BOGO on it so I want to see about purchasing it unlocked from the Samsung store but I haven't really paid attention to their promos at all. Would I get a decent ($400-600 USD) value on my 2XL (do you think?)? What kind of promos did they have last year? Any for $ off? How is the student discount? I have a .edu email and does that usually bundle? Now I know nothing is set in stone or will be 100% true until Oct/Nov comes around but I am trying to get generalities based on how it was last year. I had a S6 in the past and my main selling point is the IR blaster and AMOLED. I've not used a S7 enough to gather an opinion. Its about a $50 difference for the two. Is the S6 still a great phone? I'm coming from an iPhone SE and although benchmarks are just numbers the S6 did score worse between the two and the S7 being on par with the SE, but there's also the optimization aspect.
