    Gnats' Gacha Trip Report: 7/26/2018

    Hey guys!

Got such a good response to the last post that I figured I'd do another a bit sooner than I'd planned since I may not be available for a little bit after this due to real life time constraints. These are just my thoughts and opinions on the various gacha games I play throughout a week or two, and they're coming from the standpoint of someone who goes into them mainly for the art and story as opposed to a long term grind/PVP/raiding, so keep that in mind. As always I welcome comments and criticism and any discussion or questions, and I apologize if the post itself is formatted poorly because I can't seem to wrap my head around parts of reddit for the life of me.

    Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia

A new story chapter (9) is being added to the NA version of the game today, bringing us closer to the 13 or so already available to JP players. As I said in my last post I burnt out pretty hard by the end of the story on this one, but that could be because I played it pretty much non-stop for a week thanks to the games lack of any form of AP system. I mostly just log in to get my daily rewards and recruit new characters, and will likely return to that upon doing the new chapter unless they shake things up a bit. The game still has one of the most fair gacha systems I've encountered, with only weapons being up for grabs and premium currency being plentiful for free players like myself, so if you're looking for a nice looking game with a JRPG feel you can't really go wrong here.

If I had to complain about anything it would be the sharp difficulty increase at the level cap, with most level 50 fights being unfun slogs unless you've spent an eternity gearing your characters up to perfection. Thankfully that's all optional and the story remains untouched by it.

Download it off the Play Store!

    Starly Girls: Episode Starsia

I seem to have a knack for stumbling onto games I'd enjoy just as they're about to close down, or far after they already have. Such was the case with Starly Girls: Episode Starsia. It was a blend of RPG/Sim where you had (unsurprisingly) anime girls that piloted mecha in mostly automated combat, but looked pretty damn good while doing it. As you'll surely learn I am a huge fan of mecha games, so when I found this I was super stoked.. only to learn it was shutting down a week from then. I thought about mainlining the games story missions before that happened to see if I could finish in time, but technical difficulties eventually drove me to giving up those apsirations.

The game crashed more often than it launched and it didn't run particularly well, but I'm still disappointed I didn't get a chance to dive deeper into it. The devs have said they plan to make a console game with the same IP which is why they chose to shut the gacha game down, but given I'm perpetually 1-2 generations behind on consoles I doubt I'll see it myself any time soon.

Game is shutting down July 27th, so if you're desperate you have one day to play it! Grab it on Qooapp!

Shinobi Master Senran Kagura: New Link

Senran Kagura is something of a guilty pleasure of mine, I find it amusing despite how shallow most of the games are and how blatant the fan service is, and I have even been subjecting my wife to having to listen to my playing the Bon Appetit! game on PC from across our office every now and then. So you can imagine I was fairly eager to hop into this one, yeah? Sadly, it was hardware holding me back this time.

The game looks gorgeous for a mobile title, not far off from the graphics of the console/PC entries even, but because of that it chugged at an unplayable 5-20 FPS for me on my phone, tablet and even when I tried to emulate it. What I did play looked entertaining, flashy and just as fanservice-y as I'd come to expect from the series, so I was naturally disappointed. There's a decent sized English community for the game and from what I can tell the gachas aren't egregiously bad, so if you're a fan of the series and want more girls in more scantily clad outfits with more ridiculously gravity defying figgle physics you should definitely grab this one.

    SINoALICE

Still very much enjoying this one, and making sure to take my time with it so as to avoid burnout. I'm a little miffed I missed out not once, but twice on a couple of step-up gachas with guaranteed new characters and then turned around and did five pulls just yesterday with no new character to show for it, but even so. The art and music are just fantastic and I'm enjoying the dark story as I make my way through it.

    Uta Macross: Smartphone Deculture

Along with my love of mecha is a love of rhythm games, a natural combination for something like Macross which combines mecha and music so perfectly. I was set to love this game until I realized it just wasn't made to be played via emulator (my method of choice for most games because my phone and tablet are literal fossils) and I had to part ways with it.

In the game you press, hold and slide buttons on the screen in time with music as idols dance around and VFs fly around in space and it's all presented super beautifully. I didn't really get far enough into the game to see what the gacha situation is, however, so keep that in mind. Give this a try if you're a fan of mecha, Macross in general, or are just jonesing for a new rhythm game.

    Destiny Child

A few people suggested this one to me and I have the Japanese version installed, but I'm debating holding off for the apparent English release. I'm torn, because it looks pretty darn fun! Is it worth diving into now, or do you guys think I should hold off?

    Super Robot Taisen X-O

Finally cleared the first chapter (and it was long, like 40 missions with 1-4 stages each)! This one looks like it'll hold me over for a long, long time and the last few events featuring the original characters have been pretty great as I'm a big fan of their art style. Still not a huge fan of the defense style gameplay coming from the franchises turn based strategy roots, but I still love mecha and the series enough to keep up with it.

    Gameplay: https://youtu.be/wSDmrKFsmj0 (Uploaded by me!)

    Grab it on Qooapp!

    Granblue Fantasy

I'm no stranger to Granblue, having played it a year or two back when it was newer, and have been eagerly looking forward to playing it again and sticking with it. The art is still gorgeous, and it seems like there's a hell of a lot of story content (all voiced!) to tackle, though the sheer amount of options can be a bit intimidating from time to time. It plays like most typical turn-based mobile RPGs, and the gacha has been a mixed bag for me so far, not too stingy on new characters but not exactly raining them on you either.

The game was made originally to run in a browser, so playing it through an emulator like I do occasionally has graphical glitches and it doesn't quite keep a steady FPS, but it's more than playable. I look forward to delving deeper into this one and enjoying the storyline.

Grab it on Qooapp, or play it via the games website!

    Sengoku Action Puzzle DJ Nobunaga

I'll finish off with another rhythm game, though I only really scratched the surface of this one. DJ Nobunaga is a very cute and stylized game where you engage in DJ battles set in the Sengoku period. The story is as wacky as the graphics imply, and the gameplay is easy and playable with one finger. Icons move across the screen and you have to drag your finger over them, while also using abilities as they charge up. It's simple, fun, and the soundtrack is made up of some very catchy EDM.

    Grab it on Qooapp!

There are a bunch of other games I've downloaded and dipped my toes into, and either have nothing more to say since last time or haven't formed an opinion yet on, and rather than make this post bloated I'll just list them here in bullet form instead of making full on paragraphs:

    • FF Brave Exvius: Mostly on hold til I find more time to play it.
    • Marvel Strike Force: Surprised how nice the game looks!
    • The Alchemist Code
    • Grand Summoners
    • Brown Dust: English version announced, so that's exciting.
    • BanG Dream!
    • Master of Eternity
    • Teria Saga
    • Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes
    • Sdorica
    • God Eater Resonant Ops: Nothing new on this front, waiting on new content.
    • Goddess Kiss
    • Record of Grancrest War
    • DanMachi - Memoria Freese
    • Another Eden
    • Knights Chronicle
    • Seven Knights
    • Black Clover
    • Soul Reverse Zero
    • Kurokishi to Shiro no Maou

So there you have it, guys. I hope this was amusing/informative/whatever and you get something from it. Again, I welcome all feedback and comments and will do my best to answer any questions you have so don't hold back. I hope you don't mind me plugging my youtube channel via the gameplay links!

    [DEV] End Game

    Posted: 26 Jul 2018 11:41 AM PDT

Hi reddit, I've been working on this game now for a couple of months and have managed to put it into beta.

    Play Store Link

(This game is pretty physics intensive and will struggle to run older phones for the moment sorry!)

In this game you fly rockets in order to destroy bases and conquer the world. The AI were trained with neuroevolution for rocket guidance.

Please let me know if there are any features you wanted added or fixed.

    Thank you!

Before, Vainglory deletes the obb file inside the Android folder after extracting it. But Play Store will always redownload the whole file every update.

    OTG controller compatibility

    Posted: 26 Jul 2018 09:13 AM PDT

Hi everyone, I purchased an official PS4 controller and an unofficial Xbox one controller this week next to an OTG cable to play games with on my Phone.. mostly through a Cloud Gaming Service and I tried it out yesterday.. first problem I had was with the PS4 controller which made me lose my sound completely on my phone could only hear things when I plugged in my headphones and when I tried the Xbox controller it just made my phone reboot itself over and over and over again until I unplugged it.. I would really love to use the Xbox controller since that is for me the most comfortable one but is the one I have not compatible? Do I need a different Xbox controller to have it working? Any help would be appreciated.

    Good games with controller support?

    Posted: 26 Jul 2018 06:00 AM PDT

I'll be getting a controller tomorrow for my phone and I'm looking for some good gsmes to take advantage of that. I've already got a bunch of emulators, I'm talking real games.

I won't be buying any final fantasy games or Chrono Trigger, I've played them all to death.

I enjoy RPGs, action games, I don't normally play isometric games but wouldn't be against it on mobile, puzzle games like Portal, shooters, some platformers. Most anything except racing games really.
