Is there a way to delete some of this data without having to do a factory reset? My phone has a total of 32gb storage space and for 28gb of it to be taken up by system / user data seems really high. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7 Active.

    Game won't fit on screen!

    Posted: 29 Jul 2018 04:58 PM PDT

    Hi

I have OnePlus 6 and love to play dumb games off Amazon marketplace. I have a game I'm excited to play but it won't fit on my screen. I tried to set the game to full screen instead of default but it didn't change anything. I also contacted the developer (big fish games) and haven't heard back. Is this fixable on my end?

    Thanks!

Is there a way to disable the pop-up that appears every time I open Google News asking if I want to enable Location Services?

    Posted: 29 Jul 2018 05:38 PM PDT

    I'm referring to this

I don't want to enable it. And it's kinda annoying having to tell it "no thanks" every. single. time. Ugh.

Nova seems to be overriding Oreo notification badge settings

    Posted: 29 Jul 2018 06:55 PM PDT

Using a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 (Pro) with 8.1.0 and Nova Launcher (free version)

I have tuned on the Notification setting 'allow icon badges' in the phone settings, but it doesn't seem to be working.

I note I do have Nova Launcher installed which has it's own badge option if you upgrade to Prime.

Is Nova overriding the Oreo settings forcing to either uninstall or go for Prime to make the badges work?

Tips on leaving the Apple ecosystem.

    Posted: 29 Jul 2018 11:40 AM PDT

    Hi guys, help please!

Been an Apple user for years (MacBook, iPhone, iPad.) after being a Windows and Android phone user.

I'm looking to upgrade my phone & laptop (maybe go back to Windows, or Linux) shortly. While I have seen some really nice Android phones I would like take a shot with, I am struggling to figure out how I am going to leave the Apple ecosystem (iMessage, iCloud, Photos, Syncing between my devices.).

Can anyone who has successfully done this share some tips, good apps, configurations etc?

    Thanks!

EDIT: Not asking for anyone's opinion on Apple, the company, or it's ecosystem, I don't care. Please don't turn this in to an Apple v Android debate.

Honor 8 - Screen has a pale white tint when under sunlight.

    Posted: 29 Jul 2018 05:50 PM PDT

This started happening when I factory reset my Honor 8 yesterday, and I have had this issue with my previous phone, the LG G4, as well. Basically, when I'm in a dark or not very bright area, my screen looks normal and adjusting the brightness functions as it should. However, if my proximity sensor detects a lot of light (like direct sunlight) regardless of my brightness setting, everything on my screen will start to look pale white and with washed out colors as if some kind of white filter were applied to it. If I cover the sensor or go in a dark area, my screen will look normal again after a few seconds and the wierd pale white tint will go away. I tried to turn the auto brightness on/off and play around with the color temperature settings, but neither of those things seemed to help.

I know for a fact that it is triggered by the proximity sensor, because at home I pointed a lamp at the sensor with the screen turned on (which looked normal at that point), and surely enough the screen got the pale white tint a few seconds later. After turning off the lamp, the tint went away in a few seconds as well. The brightness was kept at the same level the entire time. Here is a picture before turning on the lamp: https://imgur.com/a/iK8SqPs

And here is one right after I turned it off with the pale white tint: https://imgur.com/a/lWxzKfK

I apologize for the poor visibility as I was taking a picture of my screen with another phone (since screenshots don't seem to capture the tint), but as you can see in the second photo everything looks more white, pale, and washed out. Does anyone know a solution to this? Thanks in advance.

moto e4 plus - docs completely offline?

    Posted: 29 Jul 2018 06:52 PM PDT

I was wondering if it's possible to view/ edit text/ word documents without them being stored online on Google Drive. I just want a designated spot where I can jot down notes that is completely offline. I tried transferring a rich text file from my computer to my phone's storage but when I open it it automatically creates an online version on Google Drive and works from there. I hope this makes sense.

Can't get Netflix to work on rooted OPO with Magisk

    Posted: 29 Jul 2018 06:47 PM PDT

So I have a OnePlus One with LOS 15.1 (Oreo 8.1) rooted with Magisk. Device is certified in Play Store and I pass the Safety Net check.

I tried everything but I can't get Netflix to work. It always say that my device is not supported and can't even see it on the play store.

I tried to check Netflix in Magisk Hide but nothing. I hid Play Store, play services and any Google related app. Nothing.. Clear cache, reinstall Netflix, hide before opening.. you name it I have done it. Nothing still not supported...

Usually Magisk hide works like a charm because I'm hiding other apps that detect root and block themselves but with Magisk they work anyway... Except Netflix obviously...

Edit: I also tried the Netflix enabler modules thingy in case you were going to mention that.

Google Play closes/stops right after I open it

    Posted: 29 Jul 2018 12:57 PM PDT

I have a Samsung S9 Plus. Not rooted.

Since about a few days ago, Google Play closes right after I open it.

    The pop-up message reads:

    "Google Play Store keeps stopping"

I've tried deleting the cache and data of the Google Play Store app.

    I've tried restarting my phone.

I've tried getting the newest Google Play Store app from apkmirror.

I've tried deleting the cache and data of the Google Play Services.

    None of these things help.

Selecting multilingual typing in Gboard/Swiftkey affects swipe prediction negatively?

It seems that when I activate multilingual typing, swipe suggestions starts to become very unreliable. One language only seems to function better. Does anyone face the same issue?

Choosing between One plus 6 and s9+

    Posted: 29 Jul 2018 05:10 PM PDT

I can buy op6 8gb ram version with 128 gb storage for 500 euros or s9+ 6gb 64 storage exynos version for 580 euros. I'm upgrading from Nexus 6P and I like op6 near stock android Os but I don't like the notch so much and down firing speaker. I don't mind ip68 rating and wireless charging. Qhd+ and camera are better on Samsung so I can't decide. I plan to keep my phone for 2-3 years. Need some thoughts

    Android tablet not charging?

    Posted: 29 Jul 2018 10:25 PM PDT

The cable is brand new, it's a cheap one but it should work for more than a day, the inside of the charging port looks fine and I had it charge for a second a few minutes ago but now it's not working. I've tried different outlets and tried another cable but nothing worked. (But this cable wasn't working properly before I got a new one so it might be the cables just not working) Help?

Xiaomi Mi A1 vs Nokia 7 Plus

    Posted: 29 Jul 2018 10:29 AM PDT

Hey everyone, a couple days ago the screen on my Xiaomi Mi A1 started actually peeling away from the phone's metal body, so much so that I can actually put my fingernail behind the one corner of the screen. I emailed Amazon and they're going to refund me the full price of the phone and said that I can either order a new model of the Mi A1 or purchase a new phone all together. I don't really want to order the Mi A1 again because I wasn't really a fan of the clicky buttons and I'm worried that the build quality issue will happen again so I'm thinking of ordering the Nokia 7 Plus, as it's still Android One and the build quality and battery looks much better. My question to you guys is if the Nokia 7 Plus is worth the $200 more than the Mi A1. Thanks!

There are some numbers in my agenda which I would like to separated from the main contacts list, but not delete them, numbers like from health care, dentist etc. and also make them easy accessable in case I need them. How can I do that?

    Thanks!

Using old Android phone or tablet for Debian chroot

    Posted: 29 Jul 2018 09:42 PM PDT

Hi all, I just had a couple of questions about using old Android phones or tablets as "dual-boot" Linux machines. Would it be reasonable to install Debian or Arch on an old Android phone or tablet as a chroot? How much storage/RAM/CPU power would this require? I am considering a Nexus 7 (Android 5.1.1), Motorola Droid Pro (2.3), or Motorola Admiral (2.3). I would like to have a thumb keyboard and probably would solely use the terminal. Is there anything else you would recommend considering?

For those with Google Pixel 32 GB?

    Posted: 29 Jul 2018 11:36 AM PDT

Is it enough? Is it worth it? I don't want to wait months to get the Pixel 128gb and I can't afford a Pixel 2. Pixel XL has the same problem (availability)

So my question is is it enough to have 32gb of space on the Google Pixel (considering I can store all my photos onto Google photos)?

"Custom binary blocked by frp" message out of nowhere

    Posted: 29 Jul 2018 12:51 PM PDT

Hi, guys. Today i've bought brand new Galaxy J7 Prime (at least, that's what seller has claimed) for my wife. I connected to it to my home wifi just to perform initial config, get few apps from Google Play etc. I logged in using wife's google account. Then I noticed that Dev mode slider was "on" and turned it off, because why the hell she'll ever need it, I thought. Then I rebooted the phone and got that annoying bootloop and "Custom binary is blocked by FRP" message. Googled it, and figured out that this mostly happens when people try to root their phones, but I never attempted that. Does this error message means that this phone either not actually brand new and someone has logged in with his account earlier, or phone is flashed with some custom firmware with non stock launcher or bootloader (I'm a newbie in android, sorry)? Both options mean that phone is not new. Please, help, so I could argue with a seller tomorrow. Thank you, guys!
