Posted: 01 Jul 2018 01:53 PM PDT My grandma wants a smartphone that costs $200 or less and is android. Specs don't really matter, and she isn't very tech savvy. I don't know really anything about this so I'm asking you guys. Thanks in advance <3 Also her carrier is Verizon if that matters [link] [comments] |
Workout tracking battery drain Posted: 01 Jul 2018 08:50 PM PDT I have a Galaxy S9+ with Samsung Health automatically tracking my walking workouts using location and pedometer... Does this have a significant effect on battery life? Do you use similar apps? Because I have an average drain of 2.5-3.7% per hour when on standby... is this the reason? [link] [comments] |

Can someone explain Material Themes? Posted: 01 Jul 2018 07:11 PM PDT I saw that in the P beta for nokia, one plus and xiaomi, the corners aren't rounded, i read somewhere that it is lile that because OEM's can modify android using the new material themes design and still keep android consistent.. can someone explain where is the consistency in having squared system elements but rounded elements in other apps (chrome, news, podcast) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jul 2018 01:01 PM PDT I'm interested in buying a phone that I'll keep a while. I'd hope to get a 5G phone. But is it something I have to wait for? Or can current LTE phones support 5G? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jul 2018 08:48 PM PDT I have two phones, a Moto X4 that I've had for a couple weeks (unlocked) and a new Z2 Play, and for the last week or so the wifi has been dropping randomly. The last 20 minutes I haven't been able to stay connected more than 30 seconds before it drops the wifi and connects to mobile data, then back to wifi immediately. This happens both on 2.4ghz bands and 5 ghz bands, I have three routers and have cycled through them to see if any one is the problem and it still happens. It is like the old network Smart Switch but that's not a thing anymore, afaik. Z2 Play is running 7.1.1, X4 is running 8.1.0. Wife's Pixel, our Nintendo Switch, and Surface Pro 4 are having no issues. [link] [comments] |
'Cobalten redirect' malware in Google Chrome (Headache) Posted: 01 Jul 2018 08:15 PM PDT Before till few days ago I never believed that malwares existed on Androud. But from few days on Google Chrome I am constantly getting redirected from any kind of websites to cobalten.com related sites which prompt to install antivirus. I have tried reinstalling Chrome. I even flashed LOS ( from MIUI 9), but no success. I have tried clearing everything that can be cleared.. Could it be from one of the bookmarks ? [link] [comments] |
Weird Video Sounds from nowhere? Posted: 01 Jul 2018 08:09 PM PDT I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but my little sister has an Alcatel Idol 4 and whenever she closes an app it sounds like there's a video playing in the background, but to be honest it sounds like there's a phone call playing. It's pretty strange and creepy like earlier she closed an app and it sounded like the intro to a movie and right now she did it again and it sounded like someone was talking. Does anybody have any idea on what it can be? [link] [comments] |
Samsung Galaxy S6 suddenly stopped fast charging Posted: 01 Jul 2018 11:08 AM PDT A couple of days ago my fast charging decided to stop working for no apparent reason. I am using the same fast charger and cable I have always used but all I can do is slow charge. I have tested different chargers and cables and none are able to fast charge my S6 altough they work fine with other phones. I have tried the following:
My phone stiff refuses to fast charge when on or off. Can anybody suggest a reason? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 01 Jul 2018 09:56 PM PDT I'm looking for some good tablets for my kids. We have leapfrog ones, and I like the leapfrog games, but they don't have the Play Store and the OS is getting outdated. They're buggy and sluggish sometimes and I'm looking to upgrade. Ideally I want something inexpensive, that supports the play store, and also has child restrictions you can put on apps like usage time and such. Also they need to be rugged or have a rugged case. Is there a way to use Bluetooth headphones as output as phone mic as input? Posted: 01 Jul 2018 09:56 PM PDT I asked this question yesterday but no one replied :( Bluetooth headphones don't support stereo and mic at the same time, so I was wondering if there was a way to use Bluetooth headphones with phone mic at the same time. I tried to use SoundAbout but it only works for wired headphones. PLS HELP [link] [comments] |
GPS not working on Galaxy S7 after using fake GPS Posted: 01 Jul 2018 09:55 AM PDT A couple days ago I used the Fake GPS app because I needed to change my device location for a short while. To make this work, I had to change my location settings to "device only". Anyways, once I was done with that I deleted the fake GPS app and changed my location settings back to "high accuracy". But it seems that my GPS is not functioning at all now. Apps like Waze and Google maps are saying that they can't connect to GPS (yes, I have location turned on) Does anyone know what could be going on here? Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
Something really strange happened earlier with my galaxy s6 Posted: 01 Jul 2018 05:26 PM PDT So a few hours ago, I'm playing music from spotify through the aux in my sister's car, and then we here a young person speaking a foreign language in the background. I turn off spotify and close any apps that are open and the person is still talking. I have no idea what they were saying. What could this be from? Is there something I can do to find the source of it if it happens again? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jul 2018 03:02 PM PDT Here's a link using a screen recorder of what I see when I have Snapchat or the camera app open, you can hear the camera lens freaking out when trying to focus: https://streamable.com/4zqt4 As the title says, I've had this issue for a couple of weeks now, haven't had time to try anything for fixes. Would a factory reset work on this or is the camera pretty much gone? Luckily I bought a warranty which runs up at the end of August and was hoping to use that as a last resort. Any help would be great! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jul 2018 02:45 PM PDT This one isn't very important in the scheme of things but it's been bothering me. My Google account has 2fa and when I go to sign in on another device a confirmation pops up on my phone to confirm its me. For whatever reason I've accidentally changed what the phone is called in that instance to X. So it will say please check X to confirm rather than Oneplus 3 which is my phone. I've been through every setting I can find in my Google account but everything seems to show the name as Oneplus 3. I seem to remember having to go to settings in the Google play store but through a browser to change the name but I can't see where now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jul 2018 02:25 PM PDT I have been looking in the device maintenance of my Samsung galaxy S7 and it showed my screen as using 10% of my battery so far. Pretty normal. But, I'm not exactly sure what this 10% is of. 100? The 86 I charged it to? A reply would be appreciated. I'm running 8.0 Oreo on a G930F if that helps. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jul 2018 02:09 PM PDT I've grown up knowing my way around computers and I can navigate androids easily but I have no idea how to root, or program, hack, code, what have you... I was given this phone last year (galaxy light w/SD card) and this guy pre-rooted the thing for me. I went a little nuts with downloading apps off play store and the alternative app markets... When my phone started slowing down and ran out of space I started deleting dumb stuff i was never going to use. I guess I got carried away cause something vital got erased apparently. Now I can't call or text and a notification that says like "dns server error" comes up with a red phone icon... I also get a notification that says something about "wifi call error" or something. I feel dumb, let's just get that out of the way. I can't take the frustration of not knowing how to fix it anymore. Someone please school me! (in stupid caveman terms) [link] [comments] |
Android Messages for Web issues Posted: 01 Jul 2018 02:02 PM PDT I'm having constant issues with Android Messages for web and was wondering if anyone out there had any solutions. So every time I try to scan the QR code nothing will happen and it will legit take me hours before it will connect. Then texting through web is extremely slow and laggy to the point where it's useless. I'm wondering if that issue is from having too many saved text messages so thats probably my fault. Then I'm always getting a notification telling me that I need to be connected to the same wifi when I already am and even disconnecting the wifi and reconnecting doesn't work. I'm starting to get really frustrated and might just give up on texting from my computer altogether. I have a OnePlus 3t on Android 8.0.0 if that helps any. Android Messages is on version 3.3.044. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Can't install country restricted apps Posted: 01 Jul 2018 01:57 PM PDT Okay so originally I am from Lithuania and just moved to the UK a few days ago. For some odd reason I can't install the m-ticket bus app, it simply says that it's country restricted and isn't availabe for me. https://imgur.com/a/GtfDdI3 I've tried clearing the cache of Google Play Store, then force stopping it so it would get that I'm in the country it needs but it made zero difference. I am also not rooted, I've read in a few articles that Google looks up your SIM card provider to determine your country but I'm using gifgaff so I should be fine but it didn't work either. Do you guys have any ideas or something that would help me out ? Honestly you'd help me out a lot. [link] [comments] |
Something running in the background Posted: 01 Jul 2018 07:09 AM PDT I have an Alcatel Idol phone and for a couple of weeks I will hear music just randomly play in the background. It's sounds like the music that plays at the start of a movie. It's plays for a few seconds only. Well, yesterday, I heard something coming from my phone that sounds like a porn film! Lady moaning, etc. I ran a virus scan (Defender) and nothing comes up. I haven't been to any sketchy sites other than Facebook and Reddit. Also, my battery has been draining much faster. Can anyone help? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jul 2018 12:11 PM PDT So recently my battery has been draining super fast, and according to my settings page, the 'Android System' app has been draining my battery. Says it's using 50% on a full charge. Is there anything I can do about this? Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Gboard Auto correct stopped working (for German only) Posted: 01 Jul 2018 05:29 AM PDT Hey, as of yesterday the predictive typing and Auto correct of Gboard isn't working anymore for German. I've toggled through all my other languages and they still work, just German is acting up. If I enable only German there are no suggestions at all. When multiple languages are enabled it's substituting German words with similar ones from other languages. Does anyone have the same problem? Reinstalling the app doesn't fix it either [link] [comments] |
