please assist with my dual monitor connection problem Posted: 01 Jun 2018 01:55 PM PDT So i have 2 hdmi cables and 2 monitors both monitors currently have the hdmi cables plugged in to them. in my computer i have one hdmi cable connected with my main monitor. the primary monitor is working perfectly. next to the hdmi port i have a small black square port with a corner thats angled, and a white port for some pin based cable. (no vga sadly because that would have been an easy fix) below near the bottom of my computer i have 2 extra hdmi ports labeled "hdmi1" and "hdmi2" i have the second monitor plugged into "hdmi1" but the monitor currently is not connecting to my computer it is just a black screen. please assist. Posted: 01 Jun 2018 11:26 AM PDT I tried asking this question in build a pc but was told it would not be possible without a dedicated second computer that I networked with the one I currently have, I'm sure this is the case but I just want to double check as it seems such a simple thing to me. I really just want a way to house multiple peripherals in a single bay. The main goal is to house the two optical drives I have as external optical drives to the Asus All-In-One I have which lacks one. The secondary goal being to house as many useful peripherals in the same enclosure as I can. These are the peripherals I'd like to put in below. Some may not be compatible with what I'm describing i.e. no independent processor or controller simply straight direct connection to my pc in which case I would simply use the last link in whichever bays are empty. The Bay-5 Bay Black Enclosure w/350 Watt Power Supply For DVD CD Blu-Ray HDD Duplicator ICY DOCK 6 x 2.5 SATA/SAS HDD/SSD Hot Swap Mobile Rack/Cage in 1 x 5.25 Alternative Card reader without fan controller-Kingwin KW525-3U3CR Multi-Function Super Speed USB 3.0 Hub w/ Card Reader blank drawer rack (5.25"), for computer accessories/storage devices My fall back is just to get a simple optical enclosure which would be an alright solution but not as ideal since I'm already swimming in peripherals. how to resolve an incomplete windows 10 update? Posted: 01 Jun 2018 10:06 AM PDT 5 months ago, My surfing netbook was shutting down and it started to do a huge Windows10 update. being it was a slow public wifi, I had to shut down the netbook before the Dec/Jan windows10 update finished. It has been wonky ever since. no microsoft office or other programs can be launched. only google chrome and itunes from the Task Manager. anyway I can get this netbook running again normally so I can give it to my son to use? Thanks for your help. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jun 2018 02:43 AM PDT When using a scart cable for (example, gamecube, ps2 or wii) do you need the scart connection, where the yellow, white and red go. or can you just plug in the YWR cables into the holes on the tv? Wondering since my scart connection is really awkward when plugging it in with the other cables since i need to bend them and really push it in. i guess theyre called RCA cables, i have the exact one in the photo [link] [comments] |
My Graphics Card isn't being Detected By My PC? Posted: 31 May 2018 10:24 PM PDT Basically, I've had a problem with my PC for a long time now, and it's that it is almost completely unable to run any intensive programs anymore. From what I've gathered, the problem seems to be stemming from my Graphics Card, since booting up a game, for example, causes my CPU usage to start drastically spiking. Furthermore, there's screen tearing with my monitor whenever there's motion on screen, I think. As in, the image isn't quite keeping up and parts of it lag behind a little bit, and looks choppy. (Especially when things slide on screen) To emphasize this further, I tried reinstalling the drivers for it, (by the way it's an Nvidia GTX 970) and it wouldn't go through, presumably due to my PC not detecting such a card. --- I checked my Driver Manager, and my GPU does not appear to show up on the list, and I tried swapping it out with a different one to see if that would change anything but I've had no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice at all? [link] [comments] |
Read Write speed expectation SSD 960 EVO M.2 Posted: 01 Jun 2018 01:22 AM PDT I have a Dell 5510 and just installed a Samsung SSD 960 EVO M.2 1TB disk. I used the AS SSD Benchmark tool to test the read/write speed. The result is the following: Should I expect to see higher values, as the specs states:
If yes, what can I do about this? [link] [comments] |

Problem installing an OS Windows 10 Posted: 31 May 2018 08:57 PM PDT Link to my build. Link I have tried installing it to my SSD in another computer, confirming its on the SSD but then does not boot once back into my computer. The bios menu allows me to select a boot usb but then I sometimes get a frozen windows loading screen or my mouse and keyboard will die. I have also tried a different USB for windows 7 with the same issues. Any ideas why or what I might try next? [link] [comments] |
How can I go about diagnosing this issue? Posted: 31 May 2018 07:58 PM PDT Hey guys, My Windows desktop keeps having issues, for months. Recently I changed my HDD, which was failing, reinstalled Windows, and had a Windows Support person force my computer to stop downloading Windows updates. Apparently some component in my computer is not compatible with the latest updates. And now, a few months later, I'm playing GTA 5, and every once in a while the screens (I have two) just shut down. If I'm going by the noise, everything is still running. The screens go black and never come back on unless I force the computer to shut down by holding the power button. Can something be gleaned from the Event Viewer? I see a lot of warnings and some errors. As it is now, at least once a day it will freeze, requiring a hard restart. I have an Intel i7, 12 GB or RAM, and a GeForce GTX970. [link] [comments] |
Need desperate help with monitor. Posted: 31 May 2018 03:39 PM PDT I have bought a new screen about a month ago (Acer XB240H) and since the beginning, I have been absolutely loving it, well besides one major thing that is bad about it after about a week of using I have encountered with the screen: https://youtu.be/vOMInqMO7wg . This issue occurs when: Booting up pc after a long time 2-3 hours, completely randomly, or simply by moving the screen (as seen on the video). only fixes I found to get it back to its previous state where its actually working is when i: push the DVI or DP caple hard in or tilt the screen so it's perfectly straight. And that still doesn't guarantee success either... Most of the time i can just move the cable move it left and right and nothing happens. I would just love for someone to tell me wtf is going on with my monitor. Thank you for putting your time into reading this and possibly helping me find the answer. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 May 2018 03:19 PM PDT I was downloading world of tanks and when it finished I ran the game, it said direct x was not found. I went to download direct x and attempted to download it off the windows site, I downloaded "dwwebsetup" of the site and ran it but it said "error creating process ..../dxwebsetup.exe Reason: INDOWS\system32\advpack.dll" I assume it means windows instead of indows but that is what it says. Is there any way to fix the error downloading? My computer says it has direct X installed but yet when I went to download world of tanks it said " No direct X found on your computer, would you like to download it" or something similar. Does anyone know what would cause this..? Posted: 31 May 2018 04:41 PM PDT Whenever I cold boot my PC, i always get this message pop up after Republic of Gamers logo It doesn't happen on restarts or if its been turned off for a few mins, only when its been left for an hour or longer.. It mentions that i have 3 keyboards attached but i only own 1 and nothing else is plugged in apart from mouse/ethernet, etc.. It allows me to boot up right after if i enter the bios and exit right away, its just annoying to keep doing it every boot Any help would be greatly appreciated [link] [comments] |
