Looking for useful apps or their combinations

    Posted: 28 Jun 2018 02:00 AM PDT

I just cleared out my phone from all the unnecessary stuff that I did not use/had already backed up. I have plenty of space now and I don't want to feel tempted to fill it with useless apps again. What are your must-have apps? Why do you see them as useful?

Is there a IR remote app that doesn't suck?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2018 05:08 AM PDT

I've tried Peel, Anymote, IRplus, SURE, and a bunch of others.

My experience so far is that they all either don't have my sound bar or my TV remote. The ones that had the best matched remotes had the dumbest setup.

I don't remember which app found my sound bar, but I do remember this workflow to set it up: Select category -> select brand -> now try these 95 slightly different remotes and choose the one that worked. I found mine at #89.

I have a Mi 1, which has an IR blaster. A couple apps said it doesn't have an IR receiver, or I'd have been able to copy my own remote.

Finally, I'm at home with twin babies and I often have my hands full. Trying to wrangle remotes as well as my phone is a challenge, especially with a toddler running around stealing them. If anyone complains and says why don't you just buy a universal remote... Buzz off.

TWRP + Titanium Backup zips: content doesn't get installed

    Posted: 28 Jun 2018 07:50 AM PDT

In TB you can create either a zip file for the Titanium Backup app itself or, for instance, a zip with all the currently installed apps. This zip is put in the root of the internal storage and can then be installed in TWRP.

When I try to install such a zip I get no errors, it supposedly installs fine. But when I boot my phone none of the app(s) are actually installed. At least they are not showing in the app drawer and I cannot access them any other way.

Does anybody know what the problem might be? I run the latest TB Pro version (8.1.0) and it does not matter what android or TWRP version I run, I had this problem at least since Kitkat all the way through Oreo on various different phones. But now I actually would like to know the reason as it would be a very helpful thing to have. Thanks for any ideas.

Measure wifi consumption of multiple android devices

    Posted: 28 Jun 2018 04:08 AM PDT

Our home dsl has limited quota, so i would like find an app that can track the consumption of my family's phones (all android) and synchronize it with either cloud or timely email or locally with other phones on the same network, (like 'Networx' for pc).

It doesn't have to be a fancy app, or even a single app, i just want a workflow that is faster than waiting for everyone to screenshot their graph (which could be several hours apart, so it complicates accounting for unknown consumption measured by my ISP but not the total of our devices)

[DEV] [PROMO] Giving Away 100+ Promo Codes For My Homework Reminder App

    Posted: 28 Jun 2018 05:53 AM PDT

We have all been there when we forgot to do our homeworks and get ourselves a reminder app it works for a couple times but then you forgot to set a reminder for your assignments at that point you don't have any more ideas what to do... Well not anymore I have made an app that involves everyone in your class together when someone adds an assignments you get a notification and noone forgets to do their homework.

Here is what it can do:

ClassWork is an homework reminder app that doesn't need you to set an alarm or any kind of reminder yourself. You get notified about your assignments when your friends add them to their reminders.

ClassWork reminds you your assignments by involving everyone in your class so noone including you won't miss an assignment.

ClassWork will not only remind you what lesson your assignment from but also on what subject or what is the due time of that assignment is.

ClassWork gives you a notification when someone adds an assignment to their list from there you can decide whether to add it to your list or not.

ClassWork gives you the oppurtinity of seeing who added what assignment on what subject and add them to your list with the click of a button.

ClassWork can also show you who studied what lesson on what subject by showing you daily reports of your classmates.

ClassWork will show you who studied the most in your class daily so everyone can encourage others to study.

I would really appreicate some feedback from you guys thanks in advance

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lightweightstudios.classwork

PM me if you want a promo code enter it in the app from the top right corner and restart the app enjoy an adless experience in ClassWork

If not, anyone know of any windows apps?

Does anyone else feel like Swiftkey purposely screws up your key presses to make the predictions seem better?

    Posted: 27 Jun 2018 01:59 PM PDT

I notice this the most when I use someone elses phone and they have a different keyboard. I realized that I can type without skipping a beat or misspelling a word, yet when I type on my own phone using Swiftkey (which I'm very comfortable using, I've been using it since beta) I notice I type "wsre" and it gets corrected to "were" as an example. Swiftkey, of course, always corrects it to the actual word, but I started noticing how often I do this with Swiftkey and not with other keyboards. I almost feel like Swiftkey is clunky on purpose to make it seem like it helps you out more with its predictions.

Is there any good modded YouTube app for unrooted phones?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2018 07:38 AM PDT

I've been using OGYouTube for a long time but lately(I think after my phone took the Oreo update) It has some issues. Normally in a video, when you slide your finger up and down the volume changes and left and right the video goes back and forth but these gestures aren't working now. Also It should've download videos but whenever I try it won't.

I like an app without ads, that plays videos when the screen is off or when the app in background. Also It must be like normal YouTube app with trends and subs pages and etc.

Do you know any good modded app like this? OG was really great but It just doesn't work properly know.

    Hey all,

AppUp is showing me I've used an app for 5 hours this month that I most definitely haven't. See here.

The suspicious item is a booking website. What should I do from here? Let it fly or look into it further?

    Good (preferably free) Audiobook App.

    Posted: 28 Jun 2018 08:22 AM PDT

I just picked up the The Humble Audiobook Bundle: DC Comics in GraphicAudio bundle and I'm hoping some one has a good suggestion for an Audiobook app that I can use my MP3s on.

I like the Audible app and would be looking for something similar that preferably:

Has play and pause buttons, as well as a skip back 10 sec and/or skip forward 10 sec.

Pick up where I left off when re-opening the app (prefer it actually rewinds a little, so if I close the app at 1:10 when I start it up next it'll be at 1:05 or 1:00)

I like GooglePlay Music but it's definitely more for music. Audible would be great but it doesn't like outside MP3s.

    Any suggestions or recommendations?

$30 Bounty for a working PS4 Remote Play App..

    Posted: 28 Jun 2018 10:13 AM PDT

    Hey guys,

Apologies if this isn't the right place for this..

I have a JXD S7800B handheld device, and I am desperate to get PS4 Remote Play working on it. As a Dad, I rarely ever get the TV to myself so I'd love the ability to actually USE my PS4 via remote play. I heard about the Vita having Remote Play, and I got all excited, traded in a bunch of crap, got it home and I hated it, I could barely read the text on the screen it was so small.

Apparently Remote Play USED to work on these devices according to a thread here: https://boards.dingoonity.org/jxd-devices/how-can-i-get-ps4-remote-play-to-work-on-jxd-s7800b/

I've tried every version of Remote Play I can find, even ones that claim to get around the Xperia block. I've also tried hiding my root, and so far nothing has worked. It opens, then says unfortunately the app has stopped working.

Unfortunately I don't have more than $30 to offer to get this working, but I DO have a bunch of Steam keys I can give alongside the $30 (which I'll paypal to you)

    These are mostly bundle leftovers:

    Acceleartion of SUGURI 2

    Styx: Shards of Darkness

    Yooka-Laylee

    Moon Hunters

    NBA Playgrounds

    GOD EATER 2 Rage Burst

    Outlast 2

    Kingdom New lands

If there's anything anyone needs to know about this device, or wants me to try please let me know.

Looking for a phone app with caller's ID not in one line

    Posted: 28 Jun 2018 02:30 AM PDT

I'm looking for a phone app which is able to show caller's ID not in one line, like

First name - Second name - Surname

    Phone number

but in 2 or even 3. Like this:

    First name

    Second name

    Surname

    Phone number

All phone apps I've seen just shows all this in one line so part of the information can be lost behind screen's edge and it can be difficult to understand who is calling.

Looking for optimized alternative to snapchat?

    Posted: 27 Jun 2018 08:35 PM PDT

I'm really sick of my 1 year old Galaxy S7 failing to run snapchat. It crashes upon f the filters popping up, taking a video, or viewing more than 3 snapchats at once. Every other app runs fine, except for this Apple optimized garbage. Are there other image messaging alternatives I could use with close friends? Thanks.

    Nova Launcher successor recommendations?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2018 10:49 AM PDT

Don't get me wrong, I pleased with Nova (premium) functionality, BUT not pleased with the update cycle frequency nor way of communication 'what's up'. So would like to get your recommendations for Nova launcher successors to try. Key things to keep in mind:

    • features / customizability
    • update frequency
    • ability to import Nova settings (?) (Not a must have)

So what would be your recommendations and why?

Developed a disaster survival and emergency situation prep app long time ago and have continued to work on it till now as sole developer. I heard reddit's a great place for devs to communicate and get suggestions on how I can improve my app's userbase and functionality.

Please do make sure to check it out and ask any questions or give me suggestions. Thanks!

Games for walking that don't use landmarks? [Request]

    Posted: 27 Jun 2018 02:23 PM PDT

So, I find that it is easier to get motivated to walk more when it contributes to a game I am interested in. Unfortunately, with many games such as Pokemon Go and a few others I've found, the standard seems to be linking most important things in the game with real-world landmarks.

This is a problem for me because I live in the middle of nowhere. I can catch pokemon, but then I quickly run out of pokeballs and the nearest pokestop is a 20 minute drive away. In other games, objectives/quests are also tied to real world landmarks in this way; you have to go to the spot where pokestops would show up in Go to activate this quest or perform this action.

This makes these games feel less about walking and more about BEING in a specific place. Are there any good games you guys might recommend which has progression/benefits tied to actual walk-distance rather than how many landmarks are nearby?
