    How are in-store stock usually for Mi Mix?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2018 04:49 PM PDT

    Hey all,

    I'm pretty dead set on the Mi Mix 2s as my next phone and it just so happens that I'll be making a trip to Hong Kong mid-April. Can anyone provide insight on stock at flagship stores in HK? Wondering if resellers still bother with hording stock.

    Thanks!

    Emergency Broadcast and Region

    Posted: 01 Apr 2018 07:48 PM PDT

    It seems that miui has removed emergency broadcast option according to region settings. When I select Mexico, emergency broadcast appears in network/more but it disappeares when I change to United States.

    Also, nonexistent region in MIUI can be added by modifying /cust/cust/new-region/cust.prop

    I try to add Canada by add following to /cust/cust/CA/cust.prop

    persist.sys.timezone=America/Vancouver

    ro.product.locale.language=en

    ro.product.locale.region=CA

    ro.miui.region=CA

    ro.miui.mcc=9302

    ro.miui.mnc=9999

    ro.miui.cust_variant=ca

    Then I copied ota_customized_applist from US locale. It is successful but emergency broadcast option disappeares again.

    My question is that any one know where is the file for controlling emergency broadcast option by region setting in MIUI? I need to know how to enable it for specific region as Canada will deploy Alert Ready this month.

    Thank you in advance!

    Got a Xiaomi Fast Charger with my new Redmi Note 5 Pro

    Posted: 01 Apr 2018 09:35 AM PDT

    I'm not sure if everyone is aware of this already but the new stock of RN5P ships with the fast charger and not the regular 5V 2A charger that everyone was complaining about

    Here's a picture of the stuff that comes in the box

    Best way to look after battery?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2018 06:49 AM PDT

    I heard that charging my phone to 80% and never to 100% is better for my phone? It's a Xiaomi Mi A1 and I want it to last as long as possible!

    I bought my Redmi 5 Plus in China, do I flash to "Redmi 5 Plus China" ROM (9.5.2.0. NEGCNFA) or to "Redmi 5 Plus Stable" ROM (9.5.3.0 NEGMIFA)

    Redmi 5 softbricked. What can I do ?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2018 03:03 AM PDT

    Got a Redmi 5 recently, tried the XiaomiTool to change the rom from China Stable to Global Developper, but there is no multilanguage neither Gapps, re-tried XiaomiTool, it said I don't need an unlocked bootloader to install Global Stable but I'm stuck in recovery/fastboot mode. I received a permission to unlock the bootloader but it said that my phone is not paired, but I can't paired it since I'm stuck on recovery/fastboot mode Oh and I tried to flash via fastboot but granted me a tgz error... What I can do guys ?

    How was Xiaomi's Mi3, the Tegra 4 variant?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2018 10:15 AM PDT

    I was wondering if anyone got to use the Mi3 back when it was released, specifically one which uses the Tegra 4 chipset from Nvidia. And could give me a little review? I'm looking at one on Craigslist for pretty decent price and was wondering if I should get it.

    For those who are confused by this, the Mi 3 was released in two variants, the one with a Qualcomm chipset (which was widely released in other Asian and European markets) and the one with Nvidia's Tegra 4 chipset (which I assume was only released in China).

    I can't listen to anything through the smartphone's speaker except for the notifications. I've tried to put a little stick to clean the jack but I can't solve the problem. Thanks in advance.

    Redmi 5 Plus got the gesture control (iOS style) with 9.5.3.0. Thoughts?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2018 06:46 AM PDT

    I was using the full phone screen with the soft buttons hidden and only came up on swipe.

    They took that option completely away and added the iOS style gestures and its difficult to use them in apps which have gestures of their own (like Relay for Reddit).

    It does look good but I liked the old option better. What are your thoughts?

    Mi A1: Can't connect to a computer for file transfer (stuck on charging). Anyone have any suggestion on how to fix it?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2018 02:41 AM PDT

    Here's is what I had done to fix the issue:

    • use a different cable
    • use a different laptop
    • clear cache (using cache cleaner app)
    • enable and disable usb debugging
    • set usb configuration to MTP file transfer
    • toggling on/off developer option
    • clear app preference

    And yet, my Mi A1 STIIL can't connect to my computer for data file transfer. My Samsung A7 (2017) can transfer file easily, so it's not my cable or my laptops at fault. I can transfer data from my laptop to my Mi A1 completely fine before using the included usb-c cable, but now, for some reason it stop working and stuck at charging only, and I have no idea how to fix it now.

    Anyone have any suggestion? Please help.

    What to know about OPPO's recent acquisition of Xiaomi

    Posted: 31 Mar 2018 02:47 PM PDT

    As you have all heard, on March 31st at 23:59 in Shenzhen, China, the CEO of OPPO (Chen Mingyong) signed a historic deal with the CEO Xiaomi (Lei Jun).

    This deal allowed for several things such as a sharing of patents, manufacturing capabilities etc but most importantly that OPPO would own Xiaomi for 490,000,000,000 (approx. $78Bn).

    This deal has been discussed for a while, but now that it is confirmed and finalised we were asked by OPPO to rebrand the subreddit to reflect this.

    What will change because of this?

    • OPPO's deal with Mediatek now means all future Xiaomi devices will be using Mediatek chipsets

    • The final MIUI update will be 9.6.0.0-v5(ii), MIUI 10 is scrapped and new features will be rolled into ColorOS

    • Mi branded devices will still be produced, but the Redmi brand will sadly be phased out in favour of OPPO's existing devices.

    The moderators here at /r/xiaomi are very excited for a future with OPPO, and we hope you are too.

    Redmi 4x Screen Lock PIN Issue

    Posted: 01 Apr 2018 03:58 AM PDT

    My wife's Redmi 4x running MIUI 9 Beta 8.3.29 is having issues with the PIN used for locking the screen.

    Basically, you have to input the PIN slowly in order for the phone to recognise that it is correct. If you type it fast, despite it being correct, the phone tells you it is incorrect. Sometimes it can take 3 or 4 attempts to unlock it if you don't use the fingerprint.

    We've tried a factory reset and changing the PIN but the issue remains. Any ideas?

    Got redmi 5 plus with a Chinese ROM in the UK, is it safe switching to a global ROM? What's the easiest way?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2018 03:11 AM PDT

    Hi guys. I'm a total Xiaomi newbie, I purchased a redmi 5 plus which was advertised as a global ROM but the seller from Ali said it has to come with Chinese one as global was not ready. I've been using the Chinese ROM for couple days now and I did the play store/services download (no rooting or anything) to make it usable. Tried to also block all the Chinese bloatware but getting tired of it.

    Can you tell me what's my option of getting an global version going? I saw couple posts about bricked phone with the new global version, makes me hesitate a little.

    I'm wondering if it's worth it, does the global version come without all the bloatware and Google play services? What's the chance of the ROM working successfully?
