Phone came into contact with a magnet and now everything is wonky

    HTC ONE A9

I think really my biggest problem is my battery, it's fucked for the most part, if I want to charge it, I have to turn airplane mode on, extreme power saver, and turn off my phone entirely. If I try and use it while it's charging, it will just drain. I thought it might've been the cord or charging block, but it had been working completely fine for like a month before.

Is there some kind of fix or would I have to get a new battery or new phone all together?

Spam calendar events are showing up without my consent. (note8)

I just noticed a bunch of calendar events that are clearly spam. Does anyone know what causes this? What steps should I take to prevent this? Should I be worried? Thanks!

Tip: if your Outlook account won't add in the Outlook app, forever staying in "Authenticating...", you can download Microsoft To-Do and log in with it

    Posted: 23 Apr 2018 08:57 AM PDT

When you login with To-Do app, Microsoft Outlook will notify that there's a new account that can be added; if it doesn't, reboot your phone, but generally it appears right after you add the account in Microsoft To-Do.

I discovered this workaround after a lot of failed attempts to login with my account, it always stayed in "Authenticating...". I'm surprised this bug is still present.

How to change the default write disk in Nougat?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2018 06:31 PM PDT

My phone is an Asus ZenFone 4 Max Lite. In previous android phones that i had, there was an option to use the SD card as the default write disk. When I changed my phone, I kept looking for that setting but I can't find it anywhere. It doesn't really break my overall usage, but whenever i save photos from apps like Facebook or Tumblr, I'd want it to be saved in my SD card rather than my internal storage. How can i fix this?

No option to refund Google Play store purchase?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2018 04:01 PM PDT

I'm using the official step by step process recommended here: https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/7205930

When I click the 3 little circles the only option I have is Report a Problem. There is no request a refund option.

The purchase was made 24 hours.

    Any idea why?

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 - is it safe?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2018 09:55 PM PDT

I have a Samsung galaxy note 7, brand new first edition. I contacted my carrier at&t and since I lost box and ticket of the device they couldn't do anything but to tell me that 'I should contact Samsung." And well... I did and through the message service they told me to contact my carrier, and that I shall contact Samsung through the phone. Basically, my question here is: Is there any way I can use this phone for a daily phone safety by changing the battery or doing something else? Should I try selling the phone? or should I just hardcore try to contact Samsung? Thank you.

Weirdest texting issue - wont send any text with "cdb" referenced

    Posted: 23 Apr 2018 08:37 PM PDT

So, for the past two days, any text sent from my girlfriend's phone (Galaxy S8, T-Mobile) to mine (Galaxy S9, Sprint) referencing "cbd" or "cbd oil" appears to send from one device but is never received by the other. This has been happening regardless of networks, wifi calling, or time of day. It's kind of funny, but also driving me a little bit nuts! Anyone ever have something like this happen?

Got a new phone, App I want is no longer available in the play store, but I have it on old phone. Is there a way to transfer it?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2018 08:21 PM PDT

I recently got a new unlocked phone off of amazon, and on my old phone I have a math app that I liked to use fairly regularly, but it doesn't seem to be available on the play store, and I can't quite figure out how to transfer the app from the old phone to the new.

Phones are both Motorola (Moto X, first gen) (Moto Z Play, first gen) The application was free (Algrebratutor)

Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated!

Android Physical Keyboard and the Em Dash Mystery

    Posted: 23 Apr 2018 07:35 PM PDT

Just got a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse for a Nexus 5X. Pairing the rig up with a collapsible screen magnifier significantly takes mobile abilities to the next level.

    But.

One major issue I have is that the Bluetooth keyboard doesn't seem to allow for the em dash shortcut key combination. I live on rice, em dashes and jovial-but-provocative wordsmithing—so...

Anyone out there able to solve this esoteric dilemma?

Is it possible to charge battery & use USB with OTG at the same time?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2018 06:36 AM PDT

    Hi all,

so I have got a Galaxy S4 at the moment, and I can plug in USB Sticks/USB Devices using an USB OTG Cable. Sadly, I can not charge battery while using the USB Hub. My question is: Do you guys know any way to charge while using USB devices, although? I heard about that you could destroy your battery whille charging via USB. Will this happen with Galaxy s4? & I am going to get a new mobile phone soon, which probably gonna be a galaxy S8. Will it work with that also to charge via USB without any problems?

Looking for a new smartphone, 200-400€

    Posted: 23 Apr 2018 09:31 AM PDT

    Hello there,

I am new to this subreddit, so im looking forward to your help!

I am currently using the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini. I like how small it is (tiny handed man here) and Android OS is a must for me. I have no idea, what is currently good on the market and caters my interests.

Things I want the new device to have:

    • Android OS
    • as small as possible (im used to 4.5 inches, but i already gave up on that size)
    • Fingertip-scanner (i want to start online banking with my phone)
    • solid CPU-power (want to use this for 2-4 years, but i dont need to have the best stuff on the market, not really a phone-gamer)
    • solid case (I tend to drop things; the display of the S5 mini is a lil bit lower than the edges, which prevented a screen-crack a few times, so id like that if possible)

Things i dont care that much about:

    • Camera (potato-quality is enough)
    • Resolution (no need for super high res, standard is fine)
    • Battery-power (has to last for a day only using messenger and 20 mins of 9gag, but more is still nice)
    • unnecessary Social-media stuff

Im not the type of guy, who needs the newest, most expensive phone, so i would say 200-400 € is the price range im thinking about. I hope this is possible.

Looking forward to your help; tell me, if i forgot any vital information.

any way to rotate mobile screen with a button shortcut?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2018 04:23 AM PDT

    I mean a shortcut like the one I use for screenshots (volume_down_button+lock_button). I got a Redmi Note 4 (Android7/miui9.5).

If not in my OS, is there any app I can use to create this button shortcut?

LG V30 on ATT on Oreo -no longer auto adding apps to home screen

    Posted: 23 Apr 2018 03:33 PM PDT

I just noticed my phone is no longer adding apps to the homescreen automatically after my phone updated to oreo. I've checked online and followed the instructions to zoom out on the homescreen and click homescreen settings but I don't have the setting to add shortcuts in there. My Note 8 does have this setting there so I know I'm in the right place.

I also tried the old way of checking the Google play store settings but don't see the option there either. Any ideas how this is turned back on for the LG V30 specifically? Everything I've found on Google is for Oreo in general or it's just the old way of doing it through the store.

Why Is My Predictive Text Like This? [NSFW]

    Posted: 23 Apr 2018 03:32 PM PDT

A few months ago I noticed some suggestions were a bit off, but I assumed I typed that combination once, although I didn't think so.

As time went on, the suggestions started getting more explicit. I'd commonly get "cock" or "dick" after very normal words, which is weird because I really have never typed these, but maybe I called someone a dick more than once.

Today I texted "yh it's rough" and the predictive text gave me "anal" and "sex" and I'm absolutely sure I've never typed "rough anal" into this device!

I'm really not used to getting vulgar predictive text, so I'm not sure what's going on? It's like it's just suggesting me porn tags at this point.

And I only look at naughty things in incognito, and very rarely on the device, so if it's pulling these words from pages I've viewed, why is it pulling words from porn sites when I'm in incognito and suggesting them to me like a month later?

    It's a Pixel 2 if that's makes a difference...
