[Serious] BSOD everytime I try to open Pornhub in my browser

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 02:48 PM PDT

    This is not a joke.

Everytime I open a couple of Pornhub tabs I get a BSOD:

DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL tcpip.sys

It doesn't happen with other porn sites. It doesn't happen opening youtube, dailymotion, etc.

The only time it happens is when I open Pornhub.

Help please. I don't care about the porn, I care about my computer getting a BSOD when opening a certaing webpage, that's not normal behaviour.

Windows not turning off after Shutdown.

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 06:40 AM PDT

I click on shutdown and the pc shows the shutting down screen but my pc won't turn off. My leyboard, mouse, and headset all power off. The screen goes black and turns off but the hard drive and fans still keep on running. I've tried updating intel management engine. That didnt work. Already disabled windows fast boot. I turned off hibernate. Nothing seems to work except holding down the power button. Anyone know a fix for this or am i doomed to hold down the power button from now on.

Latest Windows 10 update triggered black screen with cursor upon logging in.

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 01:04 PM PDT

Updated Windows 10 last night and after doing so my computer only boots (after login) into a black screen with a cursor. CTRL+ALT+DEL still works and I've tried disabling AppReadiness in services.msc, but nothing changes.

Even safe mode just shows a black screen with a cursor. I tried rolling back to a previous recovery point and that didn't work either.

    Any ideas?

2nd Windows 10 reset in 2 days, help would be appreciated

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 12:42 PM PDT

I'm not sure what's wrong and I could used some help. Thursday night I came home from work, turned on my computer, only to find it stuck on the blue windows logo with a black background. I tried a system restore point, a startup repair, and finally a reset. The reset seemed to fix the issue. My computer was functioning and I was starting to reinstall my programs. Friday night I tried putting my computer into sleep mode. A few minutes later, it turned back on. A tried a second time, same thing. I gave up and just turned it off for the night. It is now Saturday morning and I went to go turn on my computer. Same problem as 2 days before. Currently, I am trying a system restore. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll have to reset it again.

So I ask, what could be causing this? The issue is my computer won't fully boot into windows, but why? Any help would be appreciated because I don't want to have to keep reseting my pc.

    Mass tagging files as confidential/internal

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 08:10 PM PDT

I have been trying to find a solution that allows me to mass tag/append an attribute or comment to files so they can be marked as confidential / internal use only. This is an ISO requirement and I have years of files in docx, PSD, AI and a couple of other formats.

    What do these commands do?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 07:41 PM PDT

SC config bits start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config cryptsvc start= auto [Press Enter]

SC config trustedinstaller start= auto [Press Enter]

The reason why I ask is because I came across these commands on Reddit and it's supposed to fix an update issue I'm experiencing. The account that posted these commands is new and it's only post is about this and most of the accounts that replied to it are new as well which made me curious to see if these commands are safe to use.

This is where I found these commands: https://www.np.reddit.com/r/windows10/comments/7otpmx/_/dt0u3tr

    Unzipping ZIPs within a ZIP.

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 06:28 PM PDT

Hey all, sorry if this doesn't fit the sub, i'm not sure where i would post it.

I have a ZIP file with over 100 folders inside it, and inside of those folders, are single or multiple further ZIP files.

I want to extract the main ZIP into a new folder, and at the same time, unzip the ZIPs contained in every folder. Is there a convenient program/command i can use to do this or would i have to unzip manually.

mac user coming to windows minor fustration

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 05:56 PM PDT

    hi all

i've been quite surprised just how good windows 10 is at dealing most stuff. once i've got my keyboard shortcuts down i'm starting to feel better about changing over. but by far, my biggest gripe so far is spaces. on windows 2 screens is treated like 1 desktop so doing something like spaces on a mac having 2 screens and multiple desktops for each screen seems impossible. is there any workaround for this on windows to replicate that kind of action ? task view just isn't cutting it .

Faster way to clear Windows 7 Page File?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 04:02 PM PDT

I have an old computer that takes more than an hour to shutdown because I need to clear the Page File. If I disable the "ClearPageFileAtShutdown" it shutdowns down within 10 seconds. Is there a faster way to clear the Page File on Windows 7? I can't disable the Page File or the clearing of it.

(shutdown normally through start> shutdown) Then after some time when i go back to my pc and boot it and log in I find that chrome is still open on the page i left it. Why? Shouldn't all program shutdown if is shutdown my pc? I am on windows 10. Also other programs such as steam (that is still open when i shutdown) is not open when i reboot my pc.

Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 (for Windows 7)

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 12:48 AM PDT

Hello All, I was wondering if anyone had attempted to create any drivers for the new version of the xbox wireless adapter (this one: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/adapters/wireless-adapter-windows) that would make it compatible with windows 7. It seems pretty clear that microsoft has no intention to support windows 7 any longer and will not be coming out with official drivers. So, has anyone found a way to make this device work on a windows 7 device?

Network and sharing center on right click network.

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 10:28 AM PDT

So a while ago windows changed the right click on the Network tray icon to network and internet settings. For a while I have put up with this, but lately I have been getting frustrated by not being able to open the Network and sharing center from the right click menu.

So my question is if there is any way to get the Network and sharing center back in the right click menu of the Network tray icon?

Can a retail version of Windows be transferred between computers?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 10:25 AM PDT

I know that OEM version are bound to a computer but if I buy a retail version of Windows 10, will I be able to transfer the license to a new computer if I want to upgrade my machine? Can I only transfer once or unlimited number of times?

I post this thread because I've read conflicting statements about this issue. Some say it can, some say it can but only once and other say it can't be transferred at all.

Error: Unknown filesystem. Please, i need help.

    Posted: 14 Apr 2018 07:08 AM PDT

Hey I just moved into a new apartment and after i settled in, i set up my computer. When i started it i was able to log in and access my desktop menu just as usual, but after about 5 minutes my computer froze. I restarted it, and the same thing happened, like 5 times. I restarted it again, but this time there was a disc check and repair. This took FOREVER, it was stuck at 52% so i left it on overnight. Next day i woke up to this error message on my screen: https://imgur.com/a/JevcN

Please if anyone is good with this shit and knows an easy and quick solution, i would be grateful. Also i googled a bit, and it seems like everyone says it has something to do with ubuntu or something, i've never downloaded ubuntu so i don't think it has anything to do with that.

Disable ability to format internal drives

    Posted: 13 Apr 2018 08:51 PM PDT

Currently we had a screwup where someone meant to format a hard drive to transfer a backup onto, but it turned out he formatted the drive that had the stuff he wanted to back up.

Is there a way to just outright disable this feature for specific drives? Or where you need to go through a bunch of checks (e.g. entering a password or something) to temporarily allow it? We want to make damn sure nothing like this ever happens again.

The key here is that this check only applies to internal drives.

And yes, they were SSD drives with "Trim" enabled which basically renders the possibility of data recovery impossible, making the format button basically a giant suicide switch.

How to delete a file with no permissions?

    Posted: 13 Apr 2018 08:27 PM PDT

Im running Windows 10, don't know if any other specs are relevant.

I was deleting a folder and stopped the process right before it finished, and im not sure if that has anything to do with my issue but one single file remains and I cannot delete it.

Attempting to delete it tells me I require permission from the computer's admin, im the only user, im an admin.

When I got to properties>security it says I "must have read permissions to view the properties of this object. Click advanced to continue".

When I click Advanced it says it's unable to display current owner, pressing "change" tells me that I don't have permission to "view or edit this object's permission settings". Pressing Continue on "Permissions" "Auditing" or "Effective access" give me the same things, that I don't have read permissions.

No idea what to do, any help is appreciated, thanks.
