Thinking about moving from an iPhone 7 Plus to the s9+

    Posted: 03 Apr 2018 05:13 AM PDT

I've had a nightmare with the after-sales from Samsung as I tend to have phones fail on me. When my iPhone has failed it's just been replaced by Apple on the day where as Samsung have made life a lot harder. That said I really like the look of the s9+ and wonder how things are now? My main gripes were how long it would take to get updates pushed out when compared to apple and the battery life just never used to compete (I know this is subjective) but I'd really appreciate some reviews particularly of people that have jumped from Apple to Samsung. Thanks in advance

    NBC Sports App

    Posted: 03 Apr 2018 07:48 AM PDT

Does anyone know if you are able to download the NBC sports app on a Samsung smart tv? I tried yesterday at my parents house and couldn't find the app in their selection or even by searching for it. This isn't my tv, so ELI10. Thank you in advance for any help.

[Help] How do i set up email on my note 8?

Disable Retail Mode when there's a lock screen password.

    Posted: 03 Apr 2018 07:35 AM PDT

I work in a retail store and my Samsung galaxy tab displays are in retail mode but someone put a password on them? (Does retail mode not disable that??) I tried every combination of getting to the factory reset screen but It seems retail mode stops the device from booting into that screen. I cant get to the Retail Mode app to enter the password to reset because I cant get passed the lock screen. Is there any way else without needing a computer, to remove the lock screen or factory reset the device back into retail mode?

Any have battery issues with a5 2017?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2018 06:46 AM PDT

My A5 2017 used to be brilliant battery wise. Then Nougat came and battery life has halved. No amount of resetting or clearing cache fixes it. Anyone else have issues?

I just got a case for it. Been on for 2 weeks. Fell out of my jeans once and just bobbled it another 2 times.

    Thanks.

Strange problem: Samsung S6 Camera ONLY WORKS in extremely cold conditions

    Posted: 02 Apr 2018 08:39 PM PDT

I have a Samsung s6 64gigs. If anyone can shed light on this issue, that would be much appreciated.

My camera shows the "Camera Failed" message whenever I try to use it. This is regardless of the lighting, what camera app I use, battery charge level, etc.

I have replaced the camera, updated OS and camera updates, cleared cache, done a total format of the phone, and confirmed with Samsung tech's at the store that it's not anything software related. Their best guess is something with the connection between the physical camera and the main board.

Here is the weird part, whenever I go skiing, typically between -5 and -15 degrees celcius, the camera works like a charm! Flawless, video and everything.

While it's nice that the only new photos on my phone are snowy landscapes, it would be great if it worked elsewhere too.

Selling my phone (GS7 Edge, Locked), do I reset it first?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2018 02:01 AM PDT

So I have a Galaxy S7 Edge (locked). If I sell it do I need to reset the phone first so all data is gone? Will the person be able to take it still to Verizon to get it work?

    [Help] S8+ Screen Rotation Issues?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2018 01:05 AM PDT

I normally have my phone locked to portrait, but I just noticed that if I turn on auto rotate, my home screen becomes locked in an upside down position. As in if I turn on autorotate in the Reddit app, and then exit to home, my screen becomes locked upside down. When I turn it back on, sometimes the screen flips back the right way, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes going into an app and turning auto rotate on and off fixes it.

TL;DR: turning auto rotate on causes home screen to get locked upside down

Has anyone else had this issue?

    MKBHD: Bixby Speaker Impressions

    Posted: 03 Apr 2018 01:05 AM PDT

If you haven't seen this video, the short version is for his April Fools video he pretends to review a new Bixby Smart Speaker. The answers are ridiculous and it was just an April fools joke the whole time.

What is this guys problem with Bixby and Samsung? He never did this for Siri which is totally laughable and totally gave Google a pass on the pixel and its problems.

I'm beginning to think he is just a shill for Google, and gets payments on the side from Google to trash a potential upstart competitor. If you think about it, Google probably wants to take down Samsung even more than Apple since it will be easier for them to swallow up their market share.

Getting in touch with Samsung re: bug report?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2018 12:51 AM PDT

I submitted a bug report by emailing the email address on the Samsung Keyboard page (on Google Play) but received no response.

How do I actually submit a bug report to the developers at this company? Is it even possible?

Note 8 or hold out until Note 9?

    Posted: 02 Apr 2018 06:53 PM PDT

I had a S3 way back in 2012 and absolutely hated it. I had been an iPhone user prior to that and the phone was awful. I switched back to an iPhone and was sold on the S8 last year. That phone was the BEST device I had ever used. I took back everything bad that I said about Samsung and used that phone for everything. For some dumb reason, I decided to go back to iPhone and I've regretted it ever since.

Right now, I'm looking at the note 8 and deciding what to do. I know the note 9 is around the corner and it may be worth it to wait, but it just doesn't seem like there's going to be anything worth waiting for (I know it'll be faster, a little better camera, etc.). I'm one of those weird people that didn't mind the fingerprint sensor near the camera, so I'm not waiting anxiously for the one under the screen.

I'm waiting for another billing cycle to go by so my turn in payment won't be so bad, but in the meantime, I'm trying to decide what's best. I'm on monthly payments so a few bucks more than my iPhone won't kill me, but I've heard that the note 9 is going to be about what the X was...and that runs about $40 a month which is wayyyyy too much.

So...is it worth waiting for the 9? (The s9+ is great but I want the pen and a little bigger screen)

Edge Lighting not working for Email Notifications when face down - S9 - HELP!!! :)

    Posted: 02 Apr 2018 04:55 PM PDT

    Hi kids,

Got the S9 a couple of week ago and I LOVE it! Had the S8 and S7 in the past so I am pretty familiar with all the features.

I set up AOD and Edge Lighting (EL) and it seems to work fine for all notifications except for Email.

Set EL to light up for all notifications...email notification is set to Urgent: Pop-Up on screen. So when an email comes in when the screen is on, it does exactly that: pop-up and edge lighting appears but when the screen is off and face down, I don't see the lighting appear when I receive a new email.

Has this happened to anyone before?

    Anyway to fix that??

    Thanks all :)
