Google's RCS 'Chat' plans are actually kind of brilliant

    Posted: 20 Apr 2018 09:18 AM PDT

(Mega-Thread) With all the recent news of RCS/'Chat', I figured it'd be nice to have a dedicated thread for Questions & Answers about the technology.

    Posted: 20 Apr 2018 10:59 AM PDT

    • Feel free to post questions you have about the technology itself or anything else and hopefully someone will have an answer!

Here are a few of my questions...

    • Can Carriers adjust the file size limit? Currently most articles say RCS caps at 100MB. But can Verizon (example) set their own max file size limit to something lower if they choose? (For whatever reason)

    • RCS offers video calling, anyone know how good this is? Is the quality awful? Is Google Duo something what is likely to still be a better option?

    • Are third party sms clones (Textra, Chomp, etc) gonna be able to use this?

    • Does RCS/Chat send over WIFI? Or is it solely cellular networks/towers?

    • Alos, a very helptful file about current news reguarding RCS --> https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14Ns9oV0Dh8_S5M-JHDvJ8sNHR6rpbiq2N6qZlP3g9zQ/edit#gid=0

(I really hope the mods allow this post!)

    Remote Controlling an Android Phone

    Posted: 20 Apr 2018 01:18 AM PDT

Many users will know that you can remote control a pc over internet using TeamViewer using an android device but how many know you can do it the other way round ie remote control an android device using a PC.

You need to install Teamviewer Quick Support on device from Playstore, and install TeamViewer on pc.

Not all devices are supported (motorola is not - Edit: it is now). See list below.

It will work partly for any device, but full remote control on unsupported devices works if device is rooted.
