Is anyone else tried of the same 'ole charade? Posted: 24 Apr 2018 06:42 PM PDT If feel like I can't be the only one who has fallen into the same trap. Almost everyday I browse this sub looking for a game that can hold my interest. I constantly download and delete games after less than a few hours. I don't mind grinding, but at the root of every game the core mechanics are just always so repetitive and mindless. I found myself in this never ending cycle of grinding but not really playing any games. I guess I'm not really sure what I'm looking for but what I'm hoping to find is some type of RPG that requires skill and strategy. I want to feel like the moves I make or my level of skill makes a difference. I don't mind the fact that grinding makes you stronger, but just because you have spent more time endlessly grinding shouldn't make you automatically better than me. Multiplayer is definitely a bonus but it doesn't have to be live pvp. Some type of leaderboard system would be fine. I know autoplay gets a lot of negative feedback but I think it can help make grinding a little less soul crushing as long as the actual game play is good. Lately I have played OPTC, Bit Heroes, and Grow Castle and they all seemed great at first but eventually fizzled out with stale gameplay. I play Clash Royale here and there and I like the mechanics but it isn't a game I feel committed to if that makes any sense. I know that this is vague and there might not really be a good option available, but I figured with the new sub rule I might as well ask. Thanks! [link] [comments]

Found among the Meteors: My review of "StarLost" by Hoodwinked Studios. Posted: 24 Apr 2018 10:50 AM PDT Hello, Droids. It's Askew once again, and today I'm bringing you a review of a space-shooter instead of an RPG for a change. Someone pointed out recently that a majority of my Google Play level comes from the RPG genre (I'm lvl-44, and 80% of score comes from them), so I figured I would shake things up some and do a shooter review. The game is called Starlost, and it's made by a small studio called Hoodwinked Studios, an Australian indie studio based out of Perth. Starlost was a labor of love by a small group of dedicated minds that has been labored on for many years. After a slightly dicey alpha, and what seemed like an eternity in Early Access, Hoodwinked Studios has finally delivered the birth of their first full title. In Starlost (Not to be confused with the Canadian Sci-Fi show, "The Starlost,") you play the captain of a small mining vessel that is deployed out of a sizable mining station in deep space. You begin with a barebones ship with no hyperdrive, no communications array, and no means of contacting any being within interstellar space while being surrounded by dozens of asteroids. Your primary purpose in-game is to physically mine the vast quantity of asteroids throughout the map in any given sector. Once the cargo hold of your mining vessel becomes full, you must return to the station to empty your cargo and allow the station to convert the bare ore into usable credits. These credits are used to customize/upgrade your ships hardpoints as well as the station's that you land on. Be aware, however, that the longer you linger in a single sector, the more noticeable you will become on the scanners and radars of ships outside of the sector; and they do not like unwelcomed guests. The graphics are outstanding for a mobile game. The explosions look semi realistic, the colors used for energy weapons are in very stark contrast of the dark space surrounding each projectile, and the minimap at the bottom of your UI is easily readable. The sound works in tandem instead of in conflict of the visuals, adding a sense of immersion and urgency to the core gameplay. In this instance, Hoodwinked Studios got it right. I, personally, were able to sense that a lot of effort and labor was placed into the visuals and the sounds of this particular title. The gameplay, however, is where the shine of this title dulls ever so slightly. The controls are solid (It's literally point and hold in any direction on the screen), and your ship follows. Your ship and station both auto-fire based on proximity, and you have no real control of your firepower aside from assigning your weapon types to the ship hardpoints. That is not to say that the combat is not engaging, however. Quite the opposite; enemies begin arriving in a trickle, and before you move to the next sector, you're facing dozens if not hundreds of drone enemies and "Elite" Hunter Vessels (Or as I like to call them, "Those Motherf*ckers.") My only qualm with the gameplay is that evading can be, at times, a little squishy/sticky. The turning radius of your ship tends to get a little squirrelly if you're attempting a tight bank, and can result in needlessly eating a handful of missiles. This is likely an issue with my phone and not the app, as I refuse to upgrade my 3 year old phone until absolutely necessary, so I can't fault the studio on that. Upgrades come often, and there are several weapon types to choose from. There are also research tiers that unlock stronger modules for your ships hardpoints. At the time of this review, I had ventured through 9 of the 17+ "sectors" of the game, and unless I linger in one particular area for too long, the difficulty isn't too outstanding. The game takes up very little space, though it's recommended that you be on wifi during the download regardless. It's very 4g friendly, using very little data during cloud saves/restores. There are lootboxes in the game, but not in the conventional "You can wait 4 hours to open this or spend currency to instantly unlock." The lootboxes typically hold some fairly beefy upgrades, so each one that you will open will help speed your ship development along nicely. All in all, a really fun, engaging free single player experience. For a first game, Hoodwinked Studios has swung for the upper decks. If you like sci fi titles and are interested in something a little different, I'd highly recommend it. In its current form, the game gets 4 out of 5. Definitely check it out. [link] [comments]

MMO with lots of social interactions Posted: 24 Apr 2018 10:33 PM PDT Looking for MMOs that have guilds, dedicated players, chances to meet new people, team quests/raids, etc. I've never had the "questing with friends" experience on PC MMOs before and I was wondering if I could experience that on mobile. Not P2W is preferable, but I know those are hard to find these days. [link] [comments]

I'm trying to rediscover a racing shooter i used to play Posted: 24 Apr 2018 05:07 PM PDT It was a top down/birds eye view circuit racer. You could pick up different guns along the race to either pass or blow your opponents out of the way. From memory i think it was called something like death race but im not sure. I've looked through my playstore app library but can't find it, so i dont know whether i got an apk from elsewhere or its been removed from the playstore. The game was from around 5 years ago if that helps. [link] [comments]

Corennity - Similar to Star Fox/Arc Squadron/Temple Run [NEW] [Release Offer] Posted: 24 Apr 2018 09:49 AM PDT Hi, after 5 years of hard work we are now finally ready to release our first iOS and Android game "Corennity: Space Wars", which is a homage to the famous Star Fox and also to Arc Squadron. We really wanted to create a 3D rail shooter in space that was designed for mobile devices from start to finish, with highly reactive controls, very fast-paced handcrafted levels, fresh game play ideas and last but not least a fully narrated story. All of those attributes should help make our game unique among the dozens of releases that happen on the app store every day. Google Play Store ► https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.raventurn.corennity THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING US! (also available on Apple App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/app/id1144710031 ) More Details About Corennity: Corennity: Space Wars is the ultimate rail shooter for mobile devices. 1.) shoot down huge boss enemies 2.) avoid lot's of obstacles with intuative swipe controls 3.) 20 hand-made levels in 7 unique locations 4.) fully narrated Corennity: Space Wars is a homage to our favorite game: "Star Fox". While it was also inspired by similar games such as "Arc Squadron" or "Subdivision: Infinity", we tried our best to create a very unique game - that was designed for mobile devices from the beginning! We invested many years of development to nail the gameplay, performance and overall feel of the game. In the game you control a ship named Corennity that tries to take revenge for the destruction of the human race. The ship is controlled with a mix of swipe and touch gestures, that are highly optimized to fully utilize the input from the touch screen. This makes the game react very quickly to touches, even when your device is in battery saver mode. The gameplay consists of dodging a plethora of different obstacles, shooting varied enemies, collecting shards and fighting epic boss-battles. Obstacles range from moving laser barries over rotating fans and lava geysers up to a gigantic space battle where you have to avoid the enemies vast arsenal of weapons. All of the 20 levels are hand-crafted by us in a way that the difficulty increases in an organic and fair way to the player. While you could argue that even the very first level is feeling fast, your mind will be changed as soon as you completed the last level in ultra-hard mode. Yes that's right there is a dedicated difficulty in the game that is deemed to be ultra-hard by the developers, only to be completed by veteran gamers and players around the world. There is even a unique bonus level for those that complete the game in ultra hard mode. We set out with the goal to create a game perfectly playable by casual gamers in the normal and easy difficulty modes, while being as challenging as AAA games such as Dark Souls or mobile games such as the first installation of Geometry Dash. Looking for a good free idle clicker/management type of game to play Posted: 24 Apr 2018 12:42 AM PDT So I tried out a few idle clicker games but none of them are engaging after a month or so. Some of the games I went through are: Adventure capitalist, egg inc(probably the first one to get me into this type and played it for 3 months or so), idle miner tycoon(lost my save and then decided to quit). Currently playing almost a hero and bacterial takeover. Can someone suggest a decent idle clicker/management type of game that I can keep myself engaged with? I would prefer if it was free. I don't mind watching ads as long as they are not forced. Thank you. [link] [comments]
Do you think that the days of single games are numbered? Posted: 23 Apr 2018 11:25 PM PDT Now it is very difficult to find a truly exciting, with a good and deep story single game. The market is full of multiplayer games that often have no stories. [link] [comments]
