Spellweaver TCG is giving away free gold to celebrate reaching top 100 card in 24 regions on the Play store! Check it out!

    Posted: 16 Apr 2018 05:29 PM PDT

Hello all! I come bearing another amazing CCG from the depths of the Play store.

Spellweaver is a CCG that aims to eliminate the worst aspect of CCG gameplay: RNG. Nothing is worse than a random ability ruining your board, or not being able to play cards because your player character couldn't find enough forests or something.

Spellweaver has been out for a couple years now but just now has it been ported to mobile, and the new players are really revitalizing the game.

How does it play, you ask. Well, consider it like this, it plays like Hearthstone and Magic the Gathering had a baby, but all the unfun or unfair parts of both parents had been meticulously bred out. Direct, creature to creature attacking is in play, but all attacks are made at the same time, and who can block is determined by a new stat, speed. Wanna block an air elemental with a shambling zombie? Good luck catching up with it.

Instant speed spells exist, but the game won't keep hastling you to play that random heal spell whenever an opponent makes any action, but you still have the option to respond to your opponents plays.

Mana as colors exists, à la Magic, but Spellweaver strives very, very hard to make sure you will never, ever get mana screwed. Each Shrine (read, Land) has two options, either increase the color's level (as a checksum to play higher tier cards), or play it as mana to increase your mana pool. If you do the latter, you also draw a replacement card. Didn't draw a shrine? Don't concede, pray! Once per turn, you can exchange a card in your hand as a divine offering to peek at the top five cards of your deck and draw a shrine from among them. You literally have no way to get shafted.

Each hero also has an ability like hearthstone, but each ability also has an associated cost, cooldown, and you can accrue more abilities through special shrines.

Finally, there's a front-line, back-line system kinda like Yu-gi-oh. Backline units are safe, (apart from an errant fireball or such) but can't attack or block. Sometimes you can leave continious or activated effects from creatures in there.

Sound interested? Give it a try, it's a unique take on the ccg genre that may enthrall you.

Gold will be delved out based on activity on the relevent post on Facebook, capping at 50000.

Any kind of game pad accessory for usb-c phones?

    Posted: 16 Apr 2018 03:07 PM PDT

Something like this, now I'm sure the high quality graphic work explained everything but just in case it was unclear.

Talking about a shell type case that encases the phone, making use of the usb-c port for power / data transfer with the controller.

I know you can buy controllers that plug in, but that's not what I'm after, basically want to turn my phone into an android Nintendo Switch.

Is there a good new / upcoming android gaming device?

    Posted: 16 Apr 2018 09:56 AM PDT

The last good one IMO was the GPD XD. I haven't heard anything about an XD2 but I'd love to see one, based on a newer version of Android. Anything exciting upcoming or nah?

Essential Phone and Amazon Warehouse Questions

    Posted: 16 Apr 2018 02:48 PM PDT

Recently the Essential phone saw a pretty big price decrease and I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with it specifically for gaming.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Also I am looking to possibly buy one through Amazon warehouse in Used-Very good condition. Has anyone ever gotten a phone through Amazon warehouse and what type of condition was it in?

    Thanks again for any input!
