First time user, should I wait for the Redmi Note 5 Pro? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 08:52 PM PST I'm looking for a good and not very expensive phone (about $200 - $250) and the Redmi line seems to be good in that range. The Redmi Note 5 Pro seems pretty good from early reviews, but I'm not familiar with the Xiaomi brand so I don't know when it will officially comes out in China (my county has an official distributor so it will most likely debute here not long after China). If it takes too long I'm thinking of getting the Note 4x or 5 Plus. Do you think I should wait? [link] [comments]
Magisk module to enable HEVC and Telephoto video on Mi A1 Posted: 03 Mar 2018 09:34 AM PST I created a magisk module to enable HEVC and Telephoto access from open camera on the Mi A1. Hope it helps some other folks.Example video https://youtu.be/SYDZ_PLQWpoDownload link for installing in Magisk Manager https://github.com/kenthinson/XiaomiMiA1CameraMod/releases/download/1/MiA1CameraMod.zipcode https://github.com/kenthinson/XiaomiMiA1CameraModPlease note switching cameras happens in this order. Wide->Selfie->Telephoto. Open camera seems to have a bug with the Mi A1 when getting to the end of this progression. It will crash if trying to go Telephoto->Wide. The easy work around is to force close Open Camera from the app switcher then it will start again on wide. This seems to be a fixable issue as Cinima4k app cycles all the cameras ok. Hopefully we can get help from the OpenCamera dev to fix this.I am currently trying to figure out how to enable 720p 120fps and 1080p 60fps in open camera. It's currently capped at 30. If anyone has knowledge that could help please let me know. [link] [comments]

Redmi Note 4X patchy over car bluetooth Posted: 03 Mar 2018 05:30 PM PST I get this annoying problem with my Redmi Note 4X that after a brief time on a call the in-car bluetooth becomes very choppy and both me and the other caller cannot hear each other. I have tried closing all open apps to clear memory etc but sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. The call quality will come and go but it first occurs maybe 60 seconds into the call. The bluetooth works fine when playing music or audible in the car - it is just for calls. Other phones I have used in my car work fine for bluetooth calls. This is a very specific and annoying problem. MIUI version number: Global 9.2 Stable 9.2.2.0 (MBFMIEK) Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments]
Sold Mi 5x on eBay and buyer claims its broken, I suspect they modded the phone and failed Posted: 03 Mar 2018 06:08 AM PST Hello, I recently sold my Xiaomi Mi 5x on ebay. After the buyer received the phone they messaged me for a refund because the phone was broken. The error message on the phone reads, "The system has been destroyed, press power button to shut down." I believe the buyer tried to mod the phone and then failed but I have no proof. Is this true and if so how can I defend myself? Thanks in advance for your help. [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Mar 2018 09:23 PM PST I've been having some issues which I discussed in a previous post https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/7y0p39/mi_notebook_pro_no_bootable_devices/ After I made that post, it started working fine, so I thought maybe it resolved itself. Now I'm having the same issue. What's more, it'll sometimes lock up and reboot and then go to the "No Bootable Devices" screen. This is intermittent--sometimes it works fine, and sometimes it has issues. I'm thinking maybe the issue is either a bad SSD or a faulty SSD connection. The plan is to try swapping the SSD to the secondary slot to see if that fixes anything. I understand that the SSD it comes with is a PCIe drive while the secondary slot is for SATA drives--would that cause it to not work, or would it just result in slower speeds? I'm also thinking (well, hoping, although it's probably not going to work) that a fresh Windows install fixes this. Has anyone else had similar issues? [link] [comments]

Redmi Note 3 randomly has Beats Audio boot screen? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 07:14 AM PST I've had this phone about a year and every time I boot it from battery dying or being off, it's the normal Mi load screen, now today it had the Beats logo and red animation around it? Weird, any ideas why or how? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Mar 2018 02:17 PM PST I need to bring my RN4 Mido back to MiUi, but I want to return to lineageOS straight after. How do I go about this? After flashing the official rom TWRP says there is no OS installed after trying to boot. So how do I go back? Thanks for any help! [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Mar 2018 02:01 PM PST I'm super impressed by these phones, but don't know a lot about them. Hopefully you guys can help me choose. Id prefer to get the best value phone but realistically they are all within my budget. I live in Australia so an international option is ideal. What I'll use it for: I mostly use my phone for Reddit, general browsing and shopping, Facebook, messaging, YouTube, NBA app, music and occasional photos. I don't play any mobile games. So far the mi A1 has caught my eye. It seems like the perfect phone at that price. The only issues are that it lacks NFC and the headphone hiss. The pics I've seen with google cam installed look more than good enough to me. The mi 6 also looks great but has no headphone jack and is probably more phone than I need for my usage. Is there a better value option than the mi a1 that is also good for international use? [link] [comments]
After update Mi6 battery drain Posted: 03 Mar 2018 01:55 PM PST Hello, I updated my Mi6 to version 9.2.3.0 Global and now my battery only lasts 1 day even without using. I already tried installing from scratch the same version but still the same problem with the battery. Can anyone help me resolve this issue? can i stay in this version without the battery problem? Is there a way to downgrade to version 9.2.2.0, if yes how to? Please help!! Thank you. [link] [comments]

Is Xiaomi mi note 3 a bad buy? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 09:49 AM PST So I want a android phone again and I thought this looked good but then I looked at sea and I saw less than optimal ROM support. Is there a reason for this? Is it just not all that popular? What other options is there? [link] [comments]

Bad luck with SGS7, MiA1 on par with? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 10:23 AM PST Hi, at the moment I'm on my iPhone SE which I wanted to ditch for a S7. Bought one, dropped it day one and screen was broken. After that I bought a S7 Active brand new - pink line issue at the first boot. After that I bought another S7 and at day one I had huge issues with the touchscreen. When warm, the touchscreen stops working. So I came here for your opinion. I bought the S7 since its a decent price and a great camera. When Im willing to install gcam on MiA1, is the camera on par with the S7? Or even close? Thanks, Stephan [link] [comments]

Considering joining the Xiaomi family but I have a few questions. Posted: 03 Mar 2018 08:32 AM PST I'm coming from an iPhone 6s and with the announcements of the mi mix2s I think I might be ready to jump ship and make the switch. As a US resident (on AT&T) what's something that I need to know about getting the phone? Some people were saying to make sure I get a certain model or buy from a specific retailer (when I was looking into the mix2) to ensure it has google apps on it? Is it just plug and play with a SIM card from the states? Do I NEED to mod? What does modding do for me? Has anyone else gone from iPhone to mix? What do you miss from the iPhone or what useful settings do you lose? What do you gain? Sorry for all the questions but I'm trying to learn more about this really cool phone and company. Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Mar 2018 08:01 AM PST So, for whatever reason everytime I get a message or something I get a hidden content message and can't read what it says without opening the app, this not only happens when the phone is locked but when I'm using it as well. Is there a solution to this? Thanks in advance. Edited to add a screenshot: https://imgur.com/gallery/9wiEj [link] [comments]
