Posted: 03 Mar 2018 08:14 PM PST I was thinking about recording a bit of high-def gameplay today, so I hunted around for a screen recording app. After finding one I liked (just the plain old Screen Recorder), I realized that I wanted to record internal audio too, for shits & giggles. Back in the Lollipop days, you could easily... well, fairly easy record internal audio while recording the screen by rooting and installing an app like SCR. I tested this a few years back and it worked like a charm. I believe this method still works on Marshmallow. If you're on Android 7+ and newer and you don't have an LG or a Samsung (since these phones somehow support internal audio recording via specific apps like Mobizen), you're out of luck. You could also buy this headset and use it with a Mobizen app. A "world first" that shouldn't even have to exist! Because for some reason, Google doesn't allow non-mic recording nowadays. Whether you're rooted, on a custom ROM, or not. Meanwhile, iOS 11 does. Natively! So on Android, you absolutely need the right hardware to record internal audio and your app, unless you can downgrade your phone to an older version of Android... just for internal audio recording. Luckily, the phone I want to record stuff on is still on Marshmallow (fortunately and unfortunately), so all I need to do is root my phone and get SCR from XDA. You'd think Android, considering its reputation as an open and free platform, would allow native internal audio recording and screen recording at the same time, but instead Apple has taken up the cause. The same company that removed the headphone jack from their phones. smh. 🤦 P.S. I posed this here because /r/Android mods are ridiculously anal. They'd probably remove this post for being a rant (and to be fair, it is a partial rant). Please don't remove this, /r/AndroidQuestions mods... please. Thanks. I just want people to know about the internal audio recording situation as it is right now. Also, I'd like to hear any other solutions to this quandary, if there are any for us non-Samsung and non-LG plebs.
If you guys could test these software solutions on 7.0, 7.1, 8.0, and/or 8.1 and post your results here, that'd be great. Thanks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Mar 2018 06:39 PM PST I made the mistake of removing my SD (and SIM) card(s) without turning off my phone. I thought ejecting it in settings would be enough. I put it in my computer and copied 4GB worth of files to it then put it back in, again, without turning off my phone, and it wasn't recognized. I tried restarting it, turning it off and taking it out then putting it back in, etc. [link] [comments]
Would the Huawei nova 2i be a suitable replacement for a Nexus 5x? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 06:20 PM PST My 5x is starting to bug out and I have a $50 voucher for a nova 2i, would this be a good deal/replacement phone? [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Mar 2018 03:27 PM PST I don't use reddit often, and I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but today on my phone I was browsing some random forums (I'm not sure what website I was using) when suddenly I was redirected to a random page. I tried to go back, but it would not let me, and then it started to download something. I continuously hit the back button until I was able to leave the website, which started playing something in Russian. When I went to my home screen I saw that an app shortcut with a Chinese name had been removed. I checked out my downloads and found nothing and I went to my app manager, and again, found nothing. I ran Clean sweep and Ccleaner which both found nothing and then I factory reset my phone. When setting up my phone again, it asked me to add an email address but in the predictive text were some random Chinese characters still. I factory reset my phone a second time, and everything seemed fine, but when I went onto my email to compose an email the predictive text had another Chinese sentence I'm guessing. I tried to translate it and all that it would translate to was death child. So, I installed AVG and Malwarebytes which both found no issues. I am very creeped out and I'm not sure what this is, and how to fix it. Could somebody please help me? [link] [comments]
Android WhatsApp notification question Posted: 03 Mar 2018 12:22 PM PST Hi folks... is it possible to get the screen to light up when a new WhatsApp message is received? Just like how the screen lights up when a Snapchat message is received? [link] [comments]
Can I back up messages in Android Messages on 8.1? I thought that was a new feature Posted: 03 Mar 2018 12:14 PM PST I'm looking to back up my sms/mms on my 8.1 Oreo, so I can import them on my secondary phone (also running 8.1((non Sim))) I would prefer to stay in the Google world, rather than using a free service by Carbonite etc. [link] [comments]
What's the best offline android chat app? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 11:21 AM PST I have heard that offline chats like that uses wifi-direct or something to connect other devices and are able to establish a chat with that device. So what offline chat app do you recommend as the best? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Mar 2018 03:43 PM PST My phone just fell out of my pocket on my motorcycle and a car ran over it. (yay me.) I'm in the USA, using Cricket (AT&T) I had a Nexus 6P, I liked the size, 5.7", but would be open to even a bit bigger. A headphone jack is a MUST. What should I be looking at? or should I do one of Crickets upgrade phones? I'm reading a review right now about the Moto G5S Plus, is that the way to go? Thanks for any help! Posted: 03 Mar 2018 05:52 PM PST I have a Sprint Galaxy S7 and can't seem to easily root it so I was looking for a cheap phone I can easily root, mostly to mess around with partly to get wifi passwords. By cheap I mean less than 300$ I looked at a few lists that had the OnePlus 5T which is not cheap. [link] [comments]
What is the oldest Android phone that will run Movie Pass? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 04:46 PM PST I'd like an old Android with just wi-fi to run Movie Pass. So my goal is to find the cheapest used Android possible, but I'm not sure how Android versioning works or what the minimum requirements are for Movie Pass, nor which Android would actually run it. Any idea? Thank you. [link] [comments]
Looking for custom rom recommendations (Samsung S6 and S6 edge) Posted: 03 Mar 2018 08:07 PM PST I have a Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. The Galaxy S6 was dropped in water and no longer supports wifi or bluetooth, so I've been using it as my music device. The S6 edge on the other hand is still perfectly functional, but I've upgraded to a Pixel 2 XL and have relegated the S6 edge to being used solely for games. These are Samsung devices, so there's a crap ton of unnecessary bloatware. I'm wondering if there's a custom rom that gives a purely smooth Android experience like on my Pixel 2 XL (especially for the S6 edge where I need games to run well). Thanks! Posted: 03 Mar 2018 08:44 AM PST How's your battery holding up at this point? The not so good battery life is keeping me from getting it and many say it gets even worse over time. Obviously batteries wear out, and coming from a massive battery in my Redmi note, I'm scared it would drive me crazy. (I'd be buying the European H870 version) [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Mar 2018 10:06 AM PST As the title says, is it useful to do adb backup -all? I recently migrated to Android from iOS so I am not aware of this completely. Does it back up everything on the phone? i.e. can I restore my OS with it if break it somehow? Or does it backup all the files and app settings only? [link] [comments]

How to track/follow an app's updates without installing it? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 10:36 AM PST We all can see a notification of update from playstore if an app is installed but i want to be notified regardless of that. Is there any app/service? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Vibration stops until I bang it sometimes... Posted: 03 Mar 2018 11:14 AM PST I might have had a ragey moment and thrown my Moto E4 against a wall. It's a backup phone and that's just how you treat backup phones so I won't apologize to it. Anyways, the dang thing still works except the vibration sometimes stops until I bang the area the little motor is in and will start up again for a bit. Does anyone have any simple way of alleviating this small issue? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Is it possible to connect an Android phone to an Android tablet to play music? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 10:01 AM PST This might be an odd question, but I am thinking about making a DIY head unit for my car stereo with an android tablet. The tablet can do pretty much everything that I want because it's android, like google maps, stream music, basic stuff. The one thing that I haven't really figured out is if I would be able to play music from my phone connected to my tablet with bluetooth. Normally I would just use the tablet and stream music from there, but in some cases I would like to connect a phone, such as a friend's phone if they'd like to play something. Thanks for the help guys, hopefully I was able to explain it well. [link] [comments]
Turn off apps after screen lock on Android Oreo Posted: 03 Mar 2018 01:06 PM PST Hi everyone, Today I updated from Android 7 to Android 8 and have one question about settings. In Android 7 user can easily choose which apps will be stopped after you lock your screen. In Android 8 is similar option, but more specific. Do you have any advice how to set it for stopping apps after screen lock? And if it possible to stop google chrome like this especially? Thank you [link] [comments]
Can i stop notifications for all apps in one go? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 09:13 AM PST I often mirror my phone to my tv to watch sport. It's a pain having to disable notifications for each individual app. Is there a way i can disable all notifications in one go? [link] [comments]
Sony Xperia Z3 - No sim card detected (sometimes) Posted: 03 Mar 2018 04:35 PM PST So my phone has this issue that it does not detect the SIM card ocassionally. It only shows "No service". Note that I made it work a while back after I repeteadly restart my phone. Not sure if I did some setting changes. It went okay for a while until I accidentally restart my phone and now it doesn't detect the SIM anymore. Is this a software issue? Or a hardware? I've spilled a bit of water but it was working just fine. [link] [comments]
Pixel not able to accept incoming calls. Posted: 03 Mar 2018 12:40 PM PST Hello. I have a Pixel 1, running 8.1.0. Starting this morning I haven't been able to answer incoming calls either from the full blue screen or the dropdown answer/decline. I swipe to accept or press answer and it does nothing. Whats more, each time after, I am not able to make any phone calls. I try calling and the phone icon does not work when pressed. If I restart my phone I can make calls, but as soon as someone calls me its the same problem. All apps up to date. Ive tried deleting updates to the phone app. No luck. I've been searching for an answer all day. Help! [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Mar 2018 04:07 PM PST If my laptop screen was broken, I could just plug it into a monitor and voila. Is there any way to do something similar with Android and/or the S4 specifically? [link] [comments]
Carrier Switch - Factory Reset Needed? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 04:04 PM PST I've been with Fi and switched to Verizon (crucify me in the comments below) today and am curious if a factory reset is needed when switching carriers. Calling, Texting and Data all work, wasn't sure if that is reason enough not to. Thanks all [link] [comments] |
