Posted: 03 Mar 2018 07:12 PM PST Hi, I was using my computer two days ago and my mouse randomly disconnected and windows does not connect to it, it installs the drivers for it but it doesn't actually turn on. I connected the mouse to a chrome book and it works fine , it just refuses to be detected in windows. I don't know what to do :( I have tried to reset my computer clean but it fails to reset so I don't know what to do. [link] [comments]

New Dell + Windows 10 Issue (Screen Flicker)(Windows Noob) Posted: 03 Mar 2018 09:13 AM PST Hi All, First Windows machine in forever. Liking it a lot but one problem is killing me. I have serious screen flickering that I cant figure out. It happens often on reddit (as in, clicking open a .gif or starting a Youtube video). I've tried some googling and trouble shooting (I've booted into safe mode and attempted to update drivers) but I'm sort of at a loss. This computer is brand new. I'm using Chrome.. maybe it is application specific? I have 2 HP monitors connected HDMI to Display port into the video card if that helps. Thanks for your help. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Mar 2018 08:01 AM PST Basically, there's this update prompt I've been getting lately. However, said update never finishes correctly. I wonder if there's any way to fix that... [link] [comments]
Virtual Disk Service runs every hour (same time) and wakes laptop from sleep Posted: 03 Mar 2018 04:27 PM PST Title says it all. Seems intermittent but it has waken the PC when it does and I'm still not sure why it comes up and shuts down repeatedly. Any insight into what this service really does and if it should be able to wake the PC would be much appreciated. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Mar 2018 03:45 PM PST Hey windows peers, what is your opinion on Aquasnap? Is it worth the purchase for a license in Windows 10 or should I just continue to use the freeware functions? Tell about your experience with the software in any version of Windows. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Mar 2018 04:55 AM PST My school is cleaning out it's PC's and I got a free HP Compaq Elite 8300 SFF and it has Windows 7 Pro installed on it. Now I want to upgrade to Windows 10 but I don't have the original product key for the PC but it is a legitimate install of Windows 7. How do I upgrade this to Windows 10 (preferably for free) without the Windows 7 Product Key. Thanks. [link] [comments]
[Help] Switching from an expiring Windows 10 Enterprise to Education? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 11:41 AM PST Also posted on r/windows10 A few months ago, I bought an XPS 13 9350 from craigslist; bought it for pretty cheap, so I was of course skeptical for problems, but things seemed perfectly fine, and when I checked the windows version, I guess I didn't know what Windows 10 Enterprise was. So recently, I started getting "Your Windows License will expire soon" message. I check the windows activation key, and realize that this was probably one of the guy's laptops provided by work/company. I have a Windows 10 Education activation key from the university I attend. Is there an easy way to switch from my expiring Enterprise to the Education (hopefully without losing my storage/files? But if not that's fine) and activate Education with my product key? If so, how could I do that? Edit: Some screenshots of This PC properties, and I have tried using the Media Creation Tool to "upgrade this PC now," but it doesn't let me. https://imgur.com/a/Scwap If I created the ISO with the Media Creation Tool and then simply used that/mounted it to this laptop to reinstall windows, would that work? (And would I be able to still keep my files or no?) Sorry for my incompetence lol. I've also searched for other possible solutions, and found this, but not too sure. Edit2: When I try to "change product key" in the settings, it tells me that it's unable to activate windows with error code 0xc03f6506. [link] [comments]
Where is SYSTEM in the newest version of Windows 10 Pro? Posted: 03 Mar 2018 03:16 PM PST I used to be able to get there by doing: WINDOWS KEY + X Then, click SYSTEM but it doesn't take me to the right place anymore? [link] [comments]
Fall Creators Update on-screen keyboard sucks Posted: 03 Mar 2018 03:52 AM PST I'm a Surface 3 Pro user. Is it me, or has anyone else noticed the on-screen keyboard now sucks big time? It was a joy to type in the old keyboard, now this one sucks in multiple ways. For one, it is now dog slow, failing to keep up with my moderate typing speed, and dropping if you type faster. Often keys don't even light up when hit. Any key, even backspaces. Holding "backspace" to delete words reveals how intrinsically slow the onscreen keyboard has become. You quickly overwhelms the processing speed, and the keyboard keeps deleting until it has deleted much more than intended. Besides lagginess, usability has also changed much for the worse. Sub-keys in popups (e.g. punctuation that pops up while holding the "." key) are arranged in one line instead of in a matrix. Before that you knew that to type a "!" you had to hold "." and then swipe right. Now you can no longer do this. Also they don't light up anymore when hovering them. All this on a Surface 3 Pro hardware. It's idiotic. Has MSFT taken notice of this, by chance? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Mar 2018 02:38 PM PST I've always liked the look of Ubuntu or MacOS. The simplicity and crispness are attractive to me. But I like the functionality of windows. It recently occurred to me that there may be ways to format Windows 10 to look and function differently. I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions and/or tips? I have done a quick search online and I see that it is possible but I'm a bit hesitant to click any of the "best theme for windows 10" links I see on YouTube. [link] [comments]
windows asking for password, didn’t set one Posted: 03 Mar 2018 12:44 PM PST Someone I kow reported this quote Logged into my home computer with Windows 10 last night and was greeted with a field asking for my password. I never set up a Microsoft password log in so I'm stumped as to why this feature is active. I tried resetting it many times (it only gives you that option occasionally), but it won't accept the new passwords! I was up until 2 a.m. trying to resolve it. I'm wondering if I got hacked. Has anyone had a similar experience or ideas on what I can do? Thanks for your help! unquote A guy at the Microsoft store fixed it using 1234 as the password. How is this possible? Did a windows update set a default pin? Malware or virus? [link] [comments]
Windows 10 Home install - "APC Index Mismatch" on win32kfull.sys Posted: 03 Mar 2018 12:31 PM PST I'm trying to install Windows 10 Home on a laptop with a clean HDD. The initial installation steps work, but after the laptop reboots to continue the installation I get a BSOD with the error from the title. My first thought was to restart in safe mode, but that gives me a message saying that the installation can't be completed in safe mode. I also can't get into a command prompt because I don't have a user yet. Any way to fix this? [link] [comments]
Windows changes desktop icon orientation on Update Posted: 03 Mar 2018 10:40 AM PST Every update windows decides to override my manual icon placement and make them be placed in vertical rows, is there a way to prevent this? I like keeping my icons horizontal. Edit: It's not every update, just randomly! It did it last night but there's no way my computer updated [link] [comments]
After the recent Win10 update, my settings are gone. Posted: 03 Mar 2018 01:39 AM PST Mainly my visual settings. Later I noticed my documents are gone too, they're only in the restore folder, and I cant copy them over as they are too big. [link] [comments]
