Weekly "anything goes" thread! Posted: 30 Mar 2018 05:41 AM PDT Here's your chance to talk about whatever! Although if you're thinking about getting feedback on an app, you should wait until tomorrow's App Feedback thread. Remember that while you can talk about any topic, being a jerk is still not allowed. [link] [comments]
How to publish an app as an Organization instead of using Personal Account. Posted: 30 Mar 2018 05:39 AM PDT While creating an account for publishing an app, google asked for the first name, last name and the gender. So how to create an account for an organization? or what procedure should i take to publish an app in the name of organization. [link] [comments]
Leanback VerticalGridFragment weird behaviour on tablets Posted: 30 Mar 2018 03:51 PM PDT Hello! I know leanback is for TVs, but tried it on a tablet/phone and the VerticalGridFragment does something weird. I have set it 3 columns with a fixed with (to fit screen width) but if you touch elements, you can scroll horizontally to infinite, and items just get far far away from the actual screen. Any ideas why this or how to fix/block ? [link] [comments]

Does anyone else have issues with AS 3.1? Posted: 29 Mar 2018 09:20 PM PDT Is it just me or is AS 3.1 buggy as hell? (shows a ton of methods as unused, has loading problems etc..). No amount of cache cleaning / rebuilding helps :( [link] [comments]
Adding Android Support Libraries in Eclipse IDE Posted: 30 Mar 2018 04:29 PM PDT I'm new to Android development and just created an empty pre-compiled Android project in my IDE (Eclipse Oxygen.3 Release 4.7.3). There are lots of underlined errors in this pre-compiled code, and the first is "The import android.support cannot be resolved" at this import android.support.v7.app.ActionBarActivity; string. I followed this manual (Nana Ghartey reply, Step 1) I do not have "/extras/android/support/v7/appcompat/" folder in my Android SDK folder, but I found similar "...\extras\android\m2repository\com\android\support\appcompat-v7\" (that was the only folder found with *appcompat* regexp). However, choosing this directory in a "Root Directory" field did not help - list of projects was empty. Choosing "...\appcompat-v7\25.3.1\" subdirectory also changed nothing. What should I do to fix this problem? Here is the screenshot of dialog window. [link] [comments]

How can I improve the skill of making sense out of documentation (without the help of tutorials)? Posted: 30 Mar 2018 12:21 AM PDT I am inching towards a territory that is outside the comfort zone of beginners, where there is tutorial or a SO answer explaining everything. I find myself relying more and more on documentation instead of tutorials. But I have great problems with understanding what something does or how to use it based ONLY on docs. Now I know that I can always count on tutorials or ask online. But what will happen when im in work? Or have a deadline? I can't always bang my head against the wall for two days when i want to implement something from the API. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Mar 2018 05:34 PM PDT What are the video sources I should check as an amateur android dev with decent experience in Java? I remember someone recommending a channel but can't find it anymore. I'm looking for patterns/tools/practices that may not be so obvious if you're just reading the(sometimes outdated docs) as well as any pitfalls that i should avoid [link] [comments]
