[Dev] QKSMS 3.0 Beta 4. MMS gallery view, improved group chat and multi-image MMS support, and more!

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 10:22 AM PST

Hey there! Just wanted to give an update on the status of the QKSMS 3.0 beta

If you're not already, feel free to become a tester here

You can also check out some quick screenshots of the app here

The app's source code is also available on Github, and we've also got a really fanastastic feedback community on Google+

Since I shared here last month, there's been quite a bit of progress.

    • Full screen viewer for MMS attachments
    • MMS gallery view
    • Improved sharing support
    • Per-conversation customization
    • Improved group chat support
    • Improved multi-attachment MMS support
    • And much more! View the full changelogs here

The app is now getting really close to being ready to come out of beta, I've just got a few main things left to finish before that can happen.

    • Blocking support
    • Homescreen widget
    • Issues syncing messages on certain Huawei and HTC devices
    • Issues with receiving messages on certain Samsung devices running 7.0. If this issue applies to you, please let me know so I can send you a test build and see if I can get this sorted out!

I would love to get any feedback you might have! My ears are always open. (mostly because I haven't learned how to contract the muscles necessary to close my ears yet)

    Cheers,

    Moez

Infamous Peel remote at it again: 5GB+ of data over the last few days

    Posted: 28 Feb 2018 09:05 PM PST

Peel used used more than 5GB (7GB, I think) on my son's phone over the last few days. After a little Googling, it seems this has happened on and off for many years. It also looks as if the app is infamous for other things, including overwhelming ads and lock-screen overlays.

I just want a simple lightweight search app, I don't use all of the feed bullshit. Will everything work fine if I decide to do that?

Blocked calls allowed to leave voicemail?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 09:40 AM PST

I currently have some resumes out looking for a career change, so need availability of caller leaving a message. Is there an app that allows me to silent unknown numbers but still allows them to leave a voicemail? I get so many spam calls and have been using Should I Answer, but not sure if blocking number allows them to leave a voicemail or not. Thanks.

Best app for offline maps and offline navigation that lets you select the path to store the maps on your external sd?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 12:33 AM PST

Tried HERE WeGo but it only lets you save your maps on Android/data on your external sd card and it corrupts my external sd for some reason on my motog5 plus. Any other good apps like that one with offline everything other than osmand?

Is there a decent yoga app that doesn't use a subscription or a microtransactions based model?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 11:33 AM PST

I'd even be willing to pay a one time fee.

But so far every app I've tried was either free and terrible, or locked up tight behind a paywall apart from very basic features.

App I paid for no longer exists in play store

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 11:17 AM PST

    Hello,

Is there any way to get a refund from an app that does not exist anymore?

The app in question is called simply 'Call Recorder' by developer called 'skvalex' and I paid $12 for it about 3 years ago, since it was one of the only working call recorders for my galaxy s5.

I recall being able to get reimbursed after a long time back when there were issues with tasker compatibility back in the day, and I was wondering if it could be a similar case with the call recorder app.

I even tried going in my google play order history (play.google.com/store/account and click on order history) and it has been removed from there as well.

The only trace of it is the actual app that is still installed on my phone.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

[REQUEST] App for displaying lyrics in music player

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 03:26 AM PST

I own a Pioneer XDP-300R that uses Android 5.1.1. I use the preinstalled music player, and occasionally use VLC player and Neutron music player but have been unable to find an app that finds the lyrics for a song and displays it one of these music players. There are a ton of lyrics players/grabbers but none seems to do the job. Or should I basically create text files with lyrics, at this point? Thanks!

SIMPLE Podcast App? I don't want complicated features and ugly packed menus.

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 09:21 AM PST

Hey guys, there are quite a few good podcast apps for Android - however, all of them are PACKED with features and customizations. They are ugly, take for ever to set-up, have too many settings, don't follow Android UI rules etc... I am looking for a simple app that lets me subscribe to a podcast and maybe make the latest episode download automatically. An app where I don't have to worry about complicated settings, custom download and deletion schedules, features that are in beta and will drain my battery life etc.

The closest one I found to my requirements is actually the podcast section in Google Play Music; however, it accesses its own database only and so I cannot listen to podcasts that are only on iTunes for example. Any suggestion for an alternative?

On desktop, Reddit will automatically hide comments that are heavily downvoted. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any such feature among the several Reddit apps I tried in the Play Store so far. Does anyone know of a Reddit app that has this feature?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 04:40 AM PST

Basically the title is everything you need to know but yeah, on desktop you'll notice that comments with several downvotes will be hidden as they are below the comment threshold in user settings which you can set yourself.

So convenient especially for those very controversial threads where it's basically impossible to have a decent conversation without having that one singular troll immediately turn everything into a flame war when there are literally thousands lurking who are just trying to learn/engage or what have you.

[Swipe] Page loading only piece by piece after scrolling?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 01:22 AM PST

Didn't know where to ask: I'm using Swipe for Facebook, but a major annoyance is that when I visit a facebook page, the first few parts of the page load. Then I have to scroll, wait for the next small part to load (their last videos for example), scroll again, last fotos load, scroll again and I can finally see their posts. Is that normal? It's super annoying having to scroll 3 times and wait for the small reload before I actually can see the site's post..

We use mobile lines for our customer support agents, how can I track call logs, text,?

    Posted: 28 Feb 2018 10:41 PM PST

Hello guys, I need an app to monitor the company's customer support lines, we use mobile phones and lines so I guess I need an app.

Anything that can log missed, dialed, and placed calls, as well as text and even whatsapp would be great - I realize whatsapp may be a totally unrelated thing so it's not that important, we just activated it for said lines.

Oh and the cheaper, the better.

    Thanks for your help!

[REQUEST] Airdroid-Like App Which Allows for SMS Delettion

    Posted: 28 Feb 2018 09:21 PM PST

I've been using Airdroid through my local WLAN for some time across several devices now and since 4.4, I haven't been able to delete messages. This has led me to amass about 50,000 messages. My job requires me to have a copy of some of those messages so I can't just delete them all. Removing them from my device is honestly tiresome as opposed to being able to do it from my PC.

Is there an app like AirDroid that allows me to delete each message individually preferably over WLAN or WiFi? I don't particularly like the idea of SMS syncing apps where my SMSs are synced to the cloud and deleted from there. I don't mind an older interface as long as it works.

I'm rooted if an app requires that too.
