Volume on my computer is too low and won't go up Posted: 26 Feb 2018 05:03 PM PST Out of nowhere when I was listening to music, my volume suddenly got very quiet. I have tried a variety of things to fix this problem, and none of them have fixed it. I have tried updating my drivers, enabling Loudness Equalization, using the volume mixer, enabling Room Correction, and I have obviously tried restarting my computer. None of these have worked. If you have any idea on how to fix my problem, please tell me. Thank you for your time and help. [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Feb 2018 01:11 PM PST I know Microsoft Word will do this, but I am asking if there is a way to map my keyboard or the registry or something so that if I type "--" it will always convert itself into a longer dash. That means on Reddit, in email, everywhere across the entire operating system. Any experts? (I have Windows 7.) [link] [comments]
Windows 8.1: Wifi is connected but no internet, PLEASE HELP!! Posted: 26 Feb 2018 03:41 PM PST I've spent so many hours trying to troubleshoot but to no avail. I don't know what happened. PC works one day, turn it off over night, and the network just doesn't want to work anymore. My configuration: Windows 8.1 ASUS X99 motherboard, network adapter is a Qualcomm Atheros QCAx4A wireless adapter. Troubleshooting steps that I have already tried Restarted PC multiple times Uninstall *and reinstall network adapter drivers Disable/re enable network adapter in windows Switched from DHCP to static ip, vice versa ran the CMD commands: netsh int ip reset netsh winsock reset ipconfig /flushdns system restore point disabled windows firewall disabled all antivirus software windows troubleshooter (tells me "DOESN'T HAVE A VALID IP CONFIGURATION") even though I am using DHCP In CMD, ipconfig tells me the wifi adapter has an "autoconfiguration ipv4 address" that starts with 169.xxx.xxx.xxx. The network itself works fine, ive reset the modem and everything. It works on all other devices. Hell, I've even tried using a mobile hotspot on my phone. The wifi icon on the taskbar shows full bars, nothing wrong with it, when i connect to the 5G network. When i connect to the 2.4GHz network it'll show a triangle with an exclamation mark and say "limited connection". When i go into windows adapters, it says "UNIDENTIFIED NETWORK". I have run out of options at this point. I cannot work and i cannot do anything. I am desperate for help, somebody please!! I'm literally willing to pay a bounty or a reward for someone able to help. I think my computer is hacked (Remotely Controlled) Posted: 26 Feb 2018 05:02 PM PST I usually put my laptop on sleep. It will sometimes turn back on. Usually, when this happens, the mouse is on. I figured that was the problem. Recently it's been happening - the same thing - but the mouse wasn't on. Hmmm.... I thought this might be a bug or something. It's not until the computer completely turned on by itself. (As I'm writing this I'm sitting next to it) It just shut off by itself. What the f***? Uhh Please help me. (PS: It sounded like the computer was forcibly shut off by holding the power button) AVG and Melwarebytes say their is no virus / malicious files, I'm doubting that. Also, the webcam will sometimes randomly turn on - but I find that the camera application is always open when that happens. Somebody ... Help ... Please. [link] [comments]
I'd like to delete all files of a certain type in a folder and that folder's subdirectories. Posted: 26 Feb 2018 07:51 AM PST My music folder has a lot of bloat with subdirectories that extend at times over 5 layers deep and many files that simply aren't music files. For starters I'm trying to delete all .jpg files in my music folder but when I use the search command in explorer or DEL /S *.jpg in CMD prompt it only seems to search one layer of subdirectories. Any solutions? [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Feb 2018 05:24 PM PST Hey! So I just reset my Windows 10 laptop (originally preinstalled with Windows 7 but upgraded with the free promotion) and I got an error at around 10% saying that personal files couldn't be removed. There was a cancel button to which I clicked and it rebooted my device, now I get the error "An operating system wasn't found. Try disconnecting and drives that don't contain an operating system. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart." I've rebooted many times and can't seem to find a resolution. I'd appreciate any help! No advice is bad advice [link] [comments]
Windows 2016 Windows Update Ports Behind a Firewall Posted: 26 Feb 2018 02:40 PM PST I am wondering if anyone ran into this issue. I am trying to deploy bunch of Windows 2016 servers behind a client's firewall. They blocked everything, and only gave each server an internal IP address. They are only willing to open us ports just to allow Windows servers to update. Please note no Windows server has any public IP address. All the servers much access the Internet through the NAT router. As of right now, Windows update is not working at all. My question to the sub is which ports need to be open and what protocol for Windows updates from Microsoft to work? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. [link] [comments]
Windows not working after being maximized Posted: 26 Feb 2018 07:56 PM PST As far as I know, it happens with all software installed on my pc. I left a bunch of windows opened and minimzed to use later, but sometimes, when I go back to use one of them clicking on their icon in the system tray, the windows is maximized but not clickable, it's like it isn't even there, what really happens is that I am clicking on the window behind it (the last one opened before this one). To fix it I have to either reopen the window or quickly min/maximize a few times (don't really know why that works), it happens mostly with MySQL Workbench and Sublime Text 3. All of them are working fine now, as soon as they bug again I will post a video [link] [comments]

Windows 8 Indexing Options isn't allowing me to select my "C:" drive Posted: 26 Feb 2018 06:57 PM PST When I bring up Indexing Options in Windows 8 and click "modify", it gives me the option to pick four hard drives (Two Internal; one HDD (E:) and one SSD (C:) plus an external drive that's partitioned into two drives (G: and F:)) I want Windows to index C: and E:, as G: and F: are merely backup drives, but when I click "C:" at the top of the window, it doesn't appear in the "summary of selected locations" at the bottom of the window. Any thoughts? [link] [comments]

Add "Scan" option to file context menu for Windows Defender on 8.1? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 06:12 PM PST I've been an Avast user for a long time, and have been thinking about switching over to Defender. The main thing stopping me is my need to scan certain files multiple times a week, i do not have a context menu option for this with defender. Is there a way to add one on Windows 8.1 Pro? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 10:14 AM PST I get reminders for birthdays at noon just about every day. There isn't a way to turn them off that I've found. This is what they look like. If I try to suppress the series it won't let me saying that it's a read only calendar. Ideas? [link] [comments]

Wondering how to get Windows XP to recognize an M.2 Samsung SSD Posted: 26 Feb 2018 10:51 AM PST I have an acer swift laptop that has an m.2 slot and a 64gb mmc memory soldered in also, It seems to be fine with installing XP on the MMC, dual booting with win 7, but I haven't tried seeing if I could install it on an M.2 using the M.2 slot, and wanted to make sure if I buy an M.2 that I get one that XP can recognize at least as a storage drive if not as a boot drive. Do you know of any issues with getting XP to recognize m.2 ssds? and if so, would it work as a boot drive or only as storage? is there any kind of driver I would need to get it to understand what it is? I realize this is a strange question, but if anyone has ever successfully had windows xp recognize an m.2 I'd be interested in knowing how. [link] [comments]

Help restoring System Image in Bootcamp? Posted: 26 Feb 2018 09:42 AM PST My imac hard drive failed and is getting replaced. It's a 3TB Fusion drive. I had Windows 7 with a 2TB partition and a 1TB for the mac. I backed up a system image for the windows side. Do i have to reinstall windows to be able to load the system image? Or can i just copy the system image into a new partition somehow i've also heard restoring system images can be finicky. Do i have to make sure the windows partition has the same name it used to? Does it have to be the exact same size? And i read it remembers the specific hardware of your computer so will it not work since my hard drive is being replaced? (With another 3TB Fusion drive) r/techsupport didnt help me lol [link] [comments]
Everything is recognized but not my mouses.(Win 7 x32 bit on PC) Posted: 26 Feb 2018 05:34 AM PST Hello. I was playing a videogame,ROBLOX,when suddendly my mouse stopped working. I don't think that this is a game's problem, since I downloaded it 2/3 years ago and played thousands of times, but I never got issues. The real problem is that my USB ports detect everything but mouses. I tried applying an Hard disk and my PC detected it. So I tried with other two mouses, and this is what happened: My first and principal mouse isn't detected,as my third one. The second one is detected, but Windows doesn't recognize it (Error code 43). I know that i can use the TouchPad,but this is a gaming computer using it is not very handy. Thanks! Solution I tried: 1) Uninstalling devices from device manager 2) Using USBDeview [link] [comments]
I rolled back to 1703, but I want to STAY on 1703 Posted: 26 Feb 2018 09:16 AM PST Hi guys, I previously updated to 1709. But unfortunately it cut my ICS speeds from about 80mbps to 1mbps. Unable to find a fix I rolled back. All great. But of course windows 10 being windows 10, the OS is constantly reminding me that I have an update awaiting installation. So essentially I'm stuck in a loop of reverting to 1703, then the next time i restart it updates, then I roll back, and so on. Can anyone offer any advice on how to prevent the installation upon restart? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
