I have now stopped MX player because it doesn't detect all subtitles like before. Now installed VLC player and it auto detects all subtitles.

    Where to get AOSP apps?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 05:35 AM PST

Hi! I'm using Nexus 6P and I'd like to have as much AOSP apps as possible: keyboard, sms, caller, calendar. I can not find a list of apps that are part of AOSP. Does AOSP even include any apps in the first place? It's hard to find info on this. I just want to use as little Google as possible (no, not Lineageos or any other rom, just apps for now)

    thanks!

[DEV][1.0r] Music Feed - Share whatever you are listening to with everyone ! 4.4+

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 10:18 AM PST

Hey everyone, Hope you Redditors are doing fine.

Some of you might know me from project GOYP , but today i'm glad and proud to announce project MF and releasing the very first public version of my new project, Music Feed.

Music feed is an app where you can post, to the whole world, what you are currently listening to. It's still under development so it's absolutly Ad-Free until i add the most wanted features !

For now, i want to share it for heavy testing and see where you guys can detect bugs/Crashes issues, or just like it :)

Here is the PlayStore link !

I hope you guys like it and like the concept, i'll be updating this very often with tons of new features.

    Notes About usage and concept:

    • For now, you can view 35+ posts at once, and every time a new post is added it comes at the top of all others and deletes one from below, this is a bug and will be fixed soon.

    • Also, the app right now acts like Instagram's EXPLORE page, where it constantly refreshes and adds music from all users, i will be adding the personal private feed, comments, following etc... features when i can :)

    • Clicking on a post opens YouTube via web, so you can listen to the song and check it out!

    • Please use the built-in issue reporter so i can see them immediatly, even tho i already get crashes via Fabric's Crashylitcs !

    P.S:

It's Dark themed since most of redditors asked me to make a dark theme for GOYP.

Thankyou for your time and enjoy it.

    Mindmapper

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 09:52 AM PST

Has anyone a recommendation for a nice mindmapper app to record ideas?

This morning I woke up with an idea and grabbed my tablet to jot it down but then realized I had no note taking app or the like.

I have an office app but it takes forever to open so it's not optimum for this type of thing.

I ended up opening autodesk sketchbook to quickly record my thoughts but honestly it just looks like scribbles.

Best alternatives to pushbullet for moving files on multiple platforms?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 06:27 AM PST

I currently use Pushbullet and have been for a few years now. I have 2 Windows PC's, and 2 Android devices that I move files between quite often. I have been getting a lot of Unable to download file errors when trying to move files, mainly pictures. I also like the integration with a few Windows apps like Couchpotato and Sonaar to send notifications to my phone.

I am just looking for a similar alternative.

What is the best app for shared notes and to-do lists?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 04:57 AM PST

    Hello,

my girlfriend and I are looking for an app which can be used for notes and to-do lists live, kinda like Google Docs, just more user friendly and easy to use, so we can add things to lists in a few seconds.

    What's your recommendation?

A few android /android app questions..

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 10:06 AM PST

    Hey there,

Rather than submit four different posts, I thought I would bundle my questions :-

    1. On the lock screen, is there a way to change the shortcuts so that swiping upwards from bottom left is phone, rather than Google Voice search for example? Without root?

    2. Is there a Facebook app which removes the 'add suggested members' or 'suggested groups' to a group page as you scroll down a page?

    3. Is there a navigation app that lets you choose from a number of routes to a destination, like desktop Google maps? Waze and Google maps for android do not seem to have this feature?

    4. Is there a Twitter app that lets you swipe back to your timeline rather than pressing back (e.g. my current app, Twidere, doesn't have that function. Would be great if it did)?

    Cheers.

[DEV] - Sunrise Companion - An app for displaying sunrise and sunset times across the world.

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 05:31 AM PST

Hi guys. I've released a new app in the Google Play app store that I hope some of you will be interested in. It's titled Sunrise Companion and it displays sunrise and sunset times (and various other times including golden hour and blue hour) for any location on earth. I know there are some apps out there that already do this, but this is a project I've had my eye on as a good starter project for quite a while, and I've only recently had the opportunity to pursue it. Full transparency, my main motivation for creating such an app is to help boost my portfolio as a developer and start building a presence in the app store. This app is and always will be free, and will never contain ads. A personal goal of this project for me was to create something pure and simple, money is not my motivation.

Development for this app is ongoing, and I hope to add further features (widget and notifications being my priority) in the coming days and weeks.

I would appreciate any feedback, any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

What's the closest I can get to a system-wide black theme?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 05:25 AM PST

Like many others, I have to stare at a screen constantly for work or entertainment, that's not really good for the eyes. So to minimize it's ill effects, I decided to search if there's a way to theme all of my apps to black. However, on the Android side, things aren't looking good. I came across substratum & tried using the swift black theme. Immediately I noticed that my phone running SlimROM Nougat 7.1.2 had become slower. In 5 minutes, it became so slow that anything I tried to do became extremely laggy & I had to reboot & uninstall substratum to fix my phone. Also, I found lots of info online which said that app updates may break themes, which makes it not ideal for mainstream use. I've been using apps like Cf.lumen for over 3 years now, but it alone isn't enough. Any other suggestions? Proper black theme system-wide without any bugs on Android still looks like a dream in 2018.

    Twitter app with trends page

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 10:58 AM PST

I've been using flamingo for a while now and its worked fine but I went back to the official Twitter app and really dig how the trends page is set up minus the ads injected into the feed. Does anyone know of any Twitter apps that have a trends page similar to the default Twitter app? https://imgur.com/a/lSZ1L

Need a way to hide apps with in-app purchases

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 08:39 AM PST

I have completely sworn off microtransactions, I will never again install an app with in-app purchases. However, the play store is flooded with these kinds of apps and there is no way to filter them out. As a result i have to spend a ton of time going through apps I have no interest in. You would think the solution would just be to look at paid apps, but many of these have in-app purchases as well. I just want to pay a developer, get all the features of that app, and that be the end of the transaction, why is that so difficult?

Call blocking method that also blocks the caller from leaving a voice message?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2018 09:46 PM PST

I'm getting ROBO spammed for some shady credit card offer, and a few other offers.

I've used the regular built in Android mechanism to block the numbers... so I don't see them calling... HOWEVER... they are still able to leave voice messages... which is just as annoying to me. Because I have to go into my voice mailbox... listen to a second or 2... then delete it.

Is there a great APP that fixes this? Even better if I don't need to install an extra app...

Screen mirror app between android devices without access to mobile data ie direct link

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 03:26 AM PST

Folks I'm trying to find an app that will let me mirror my phone (xperia performance x) onto my tablet (galaxy tab s2) when I'm outside mobile data range ie in remote areas. Im actually trying to have multiple displays for my mavic pro drone. Everything I've tried so far needs to communicate ever the internet, not direct bluetooth (inkwire, oneassistant, several others, I'm up to about 8 apps downoaded now). They say they work via bluetooth, and many start up fine, but if i kill my internet connection to test them, the mirror link stops, so they're actually using the internet connection, even if they advertise that they're not.

    Any ideas?

Asking once again for help in journaling my mental health.

    Posted: 16 Feb 2018 08:16 AM PST

I want to journal my mental health better. I'm currently using the free F-Droid Diary app that uses a calendar and has notes for each day. But the problem is that it becomes increasingly difficult to read through.

How could I get my hands on a good, efficient journaling app? I would pay for one.

[DEV] [Game] Kakapo Calypse. Should I continue developing this?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2018 12:35 PM PST

Hey, I'm a hobby mobile game developer and about 2 years ago i developed a game in honor of the mightiest bird alive: the Kakapo.

    Kakapo Calypse: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mygdx.kakapocalypse

I was thinking about taking up development on this game again, or make a successor since my programming skills have improved. Maybe i can outsource the graphic design this time :D But I'd love to hear some feedback here before and/or new ideas.

P.S: Raise awareness for the Kakapo and don't let it go extinct!
