How Do I Implement Google Maps Marker Details? Posted: 02 Dec 2017 04:06 PM PST I'm working on an Android app for my senior project, and my app has a Google Map that shows the location of campus events via a Marker.
My question is, how do I implement this when a marker is pressed on? This is what the Maps app by Google does when you click on a marker on the map. Is this something that's within the Google Maps API, or is it something I would have to implement on my own as an activity? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Dec 2017 03:08 PM PST I was going through ART GC overview and Zing JVM wiki. The main advantages of Zing being:
Since in Android the main focus on developing apps without any ANR's/lags, which mainly occurs due to frequent GC. Can this be avoided if Android switches from ART to Zing(Pauseless GC)?. [link] [comments]
Brainstorm help - Shaming apps with anti patterns Posted: 02 Dec 2017 01:30 PM PST I'm planning to start a subreddit/website which is focussed on one thing - provide the community with shady(grey area) things that apps do, which will provide opportunity for developers to fix it or justify themselves Examples :- 1. [Dark grey/very shady] Snapchat is such a big company with so many app developers, but they refuse to update their app to support runtime permissions. 2. [Light grey] apps which steal the back button. Things like double back to exit or hitting back does not exist. Aim is to have it as a mix of exploited design patterns, annoying "features" that takes power away from users. I would love general feedback and a nice name for it :) I'm also looking to partner up with people to maintain this when it goes into fruition. So let me know. [link] [comments]
Are there any companies that offer co-publishing deal for android apps (not games) ? Posted: 01 Dec 2017 10:00 PM PST I have this app i made last month and it currently stands on around 9k installs with 4.35 star rating on playstore. Although the users response and user retention rate is great, i find it annoying that the app is not catching the momentum it should have. So, I was wondering if there are companies that offer co-publishing deal just like those that offers games co-publishing? I tried looking it up on the internet but only found the ones that offers co-publishing for games. If anyone knows anything regarding this, Please help Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Dec 2017 09:31 PM PST Lately I've been in Android studio (v3) doing a lot of designing. I have designs in illustrator to go buy, and I'm trying to get them themed and styled. What I'm finding difficult is the preview is only OK. Listviews are a pain, and I can't seem to get the level of detail I want. Overall it feels clunky. Are there faster and better tools for this? Thanks! [link] [comments]

Why cant cheapo Chinese Android phones get the latest Android? Posted: 01 Dec 2017 05:46 PM PST Is the whole reason why they cant update easily is because they all have some super cheapo not common modem/display/wifi-chipset/cpu etc etc and they privately write the driver and dont want to open source it or submit to AOSP to include the driver support? Im missing the OS flaw or how someone can mess with an OS yet get it to run but not be able to update? [link] [comments]
Want to publish my app, but concerned with legalities Posted: 01 Dec 2017 04:04 PM PST The app does a bit of web scrapping, basically collects specific data (images/text) from websites and displays them. So is it possible to publish this app with just an about page crediting where data is retrieved from? Do I have to read the websites legal agreement, if so what key words should I look for? I don't intend to add any ads to make a profit. But if I were to, I'm guessing there would be legal troubles? [link] [comments] |
