Need some advice on choosing between two HP laptops: Intel vs AMD version Posted: 04 Jun 2022 02:42 PM PDT Hi, I've been looking around for a new laptop and it's come to these two HP laptops that are identical except in the CPUs
AMD one is significantly cheaper and from what I can gather has better performance (CPU comparison here). Main use is office work, handling somewhat large or calculation heavy Excel workbooks, occasional Photoshop work and that's pretty much it. I'm assuming both should be able to support 4K external monitor (i.e. my TV hooked up via HDMI)? I'd probably be upgrading to 16GB RAM, both options come with 8GB. Any input is appreciated. When are Ryzen 5 6600 U laptops coming? Posted: 04 Jun 2022 02:41 PM PDT I saw the portable console coming with 6600u cpu in September any news about laptops like ideapad 5 or asus i need one 16inch for university in 4 months the sooner the better [link] [comments]
Replacing the rubber strips/feet Posted: 04 Jun 2022 05:57 PM PDT I have an HP Envy 360 15m. The rubber feet came off and I need to replace them, but can I use rubber feet for any HP Envy 360? Is there some other solution? I've also still got the rubber strips that fell off, is there a way for me to simply reattach those? They're pretty long and go over some screws. I've heard HP charges like $60 for two rubber feet and I don't want to pay that, let alone be on the phone with customer support. I'm a complete computer noob and have no idea what to do here. my new laptop is making weird noises Posted: 04 Jun 2022 03:39 PM PDT It's been 2 months since I bought my zbook power g7 , it is supposed to be a performent workstation , the battery life was about 8 hours in the beginning then one Day when I was only reading a pdf file it started to make weird noises and it's temperature became pretty high which made the battery life about 2 hours, is this normal? Posted: 04 Jun 2022 03:21 PM PDT I'm thinking of getting a laptop for OSU, Roblox and just chatting on discord and I don't really want to spend more than 250, any good laptops for that price range? [link] [comments]

Laptop wall mounting solutions? Posted: 04 Jun 2022 02:00 PM PDT I recently bought a monitor, and I'm strapped for both cash and desk size. I need a solution to mount my laptop to the wall so I can get it off of my desk. Thanks! [link] [comments]
HP 12th gen laptop with NVidia MX550 with only 2GB video memory Posted: 04 Jun 2022 01:29 PM PDT Not a gamer. Just internet, movies, virtual machines. Replacing a crap Lenovo Flex 5. Preference is for 32GB RAM 2 TB SSD but found several laptops around $1000 from Costco with 16GB RAM 1 TB SSD which I consider the minimum. Only negative is the the HP I'm looking at with 12th gen CPU has NVidia Mx550 with only 2GB memory. Trying to decide if I should hold off for system with 4 or 6 gb video memory? How good or bad is performance? I don't mind going to $2000 for a laptop but to get the storage I want it seems like $2500 is the price. Yes I have considered upgrading components. how do you solve overheating issues? Posted: 04 Jun 2022 12:25 PM PDT I mostly used laptop for gaming but it usually overheated so I stopped playing with them. Just randomly picked up programing and even with discord, browser, and editor opened + running programs all the time to fix problems instantly, it barely overheats. But for games it can barely last 1 hour. I don't think I play very demanding games, most if them need processor power and its pretty good. How can I make laptops last longer? [link] [comments]
looking for advice on a small business laptop Posted: 04 Jun 2022 12:16 PM PDT Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: Target is $1000 or less usd Are you open to refurbs/used? Yes How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Looking for a balance of power and size. Sub 4.5 lbs, 6 hour battery, enough power for slicing models, light room, and potentially video editing (while plugged in) How important is weight and thinness to you? 4.5lbs, less than an inch thick would be ideal. Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15.6 and below Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Lychee slicer, light room, DaVinci resolve, streamlabs for twitch streaming If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? No Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? No Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I've been looking for a bit and my current frontrunner is a refurbished whitebook 15 (mag15) with a 2070 and an i7-9750. It's old tech, but looks better than a 3050 with a massive battery. Any other strong suggestions? Edit: I guess context would be good. I've got a side business doing 2d vector cutting and now 3d printing. Looking for a machine I can take to home, studio, and coffee shop. Working unplugged will probably be some social media posting, and maybe some slicing. All of the heavy video editing will be plugged in. I want to be able to do remote stuff for a few hours no problem. [link] [comments]

Im considering the lg gram. However I heard the build quality isnt great. Any alternative ? Thanks [link] [comments]
Laptop freezes every time I press down on a certain spot. What's going on? Posted: 04 Jun 2022 10:15 AM PDT Hi everyone :) I'm having a bit of trouble with my laptop: It's a Medion P6685 with Windows 11, and rather oddly, every time I press down on the laptop - about 2-5cm down from the Ctrl button on the left, the entire screen goes pixelated and my laptop completely freezes. It seems fine again after I reboot the whole thing manually (i.e turning it off and on again), but it just keeps happening every time I pick it up to move it and my thumb accidentally presses on it, or I lean on the spot too hard while playing video games. I've had it about 2 years but I've taken pretty good care of it: I haven't dropped it or anything serious like that, and nobody has tampered inside it or undone any screws, and none of the screws on the bottom of the laptop are loose. I'm not an expert with technology at all, but if anyone has any clue about what's going on, I'd be really grateful. Thank you in advance :) [link] [comments]

How do i utilize my 240gb SSD? Posted: 04 Jun 2022 07:35 AM PDT Just 2 hours ago I kinda upgraded my laptop from HDD to SSD. It feels good obviously. This laptop is like almost 3 years old, I didn't have the budget to get a new one and I've been delaying this upgrade for like 2 months cause the money was a little tight, when I finally raged a little on the laptop , the screen stopped working. I dont play a lot of games, I'm just addicted to league of legends, my dad also uses the laptop from time to time just to run AutoCAD. We thought 256gb of ssd should be enough. But this is where I got confused ( I am a complete noob anything related to computers). Am I using the ssd at its best? Oh and the ssd is WD GREEN 240gb SSD. Thanks in advance [link] [comments]
