Asus rog strix g15 static noise? Posted: 30 May 2022 07:27 PM PDT Hi! I got an Asus rog strix g15 (G513) a few months ago, but only a few days ago I started to notice that it produces some sort of electrical/static noise. It sounds similar to this but it's much quieter, you can only hear it with your ear against the keyboard. https://soundcloud.com/ran-sorkin-33962662/razer-2?utm_source=Partnerize If you ask me to describe it I would say it's the sound a CPU or a hard drive makes (I remember my old desktop pc had a similar sound, kinda like processing something, that kinda sound). This only happens when I set it in performance mode, in silence mode you can't hear it. The thing is that I never noticed this noise, so I dont know if it's something that started to happen recently or if it has always been like that but I didn't notice. Also, I have a Dell thinkpad, just a regular one, and it doesn't produce any sound AT ALL. So...is this normal for a gaming pc? Thanks [link] [comments]

Are there any budget laptops with a screen brightness of 400+ nits and decent FHD picture? Posted: 30 May 2022 06:57 PM PDT I seem to get bad eye strain with lower brightnesses. I'm considering monitors too. Thank you! (: [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 May 2022 05:37 PM PDT I'm shopping for laptops for college and I'm in between 2 options. My major is computer science. Need an urgent suggestion since Best Buy's Memorial Day Sale is ending tonight. Option 1: Dell XPS dell xps link w/ specs Option 2: Asus Zenbook Pro 15 Best Buy link w/ specs ($1400) Priorities for me are battery life and reliability. Thanks [link] [comments]
Laptop used mainly for writing - Keyboard, Heat, Screen, Battery (Lenovo x1 Carbon Gen9 or XPS13) Posted: 30 May 2022 04:17 PM PDT I need a very portable laptop that I will use for writing almost exclusively. A solid keyboard is at the top of my list. I used to own a Thinkpad and the keyboard was great but one thing I didn't like was that the palm rests would heat up due to the battery. I'd rather have good if not great keyboard and not deal with the heat issue. Does anyone have an opinion on the XPS 13 keyboard? Is it good or at all comparable to the x1? Secondarily, screen real estate (especially vertical) is nice. The X1 has a larger screen but the XPS 13 looks like it has higher resolution and a thinner bezel. How does this play out for real estate? Plus, the XPS looks like it comes with an OLED that is brighter than the X1. One thing that I think would be good about the X1 is that the screen has a matte finish. And since this laptop is purely functional for me it seems like it might reduce glare. Finally, is the battery life. Both look like they're comparable at 9+ hrs. Is this realistic to expect from both given the same i5 processor? I guess price is a bit of an issue. To get the X1 quickly I'll need to opt for the 512gb ssd and 16gb ram option which bumps the price to $500 more than the XPS 13. If the X1 is worth it for my use case I'd gladly pay it. But I just want to make sure the value is there. [link] [comments]
Does RAM speed matter when upgrading my laptop? Posted: 30 May 2022 04:17 PM PDT I am changing from 8gb ram to 16gb RAM. I have dual slot, so I am buying 2x 8GB RAM. The specified speed for this is 2400Mhz. Is this good enough for programming, and doing intensive gaming? I know that my graphics card and processor matter a lot too for gaming, but if I want to play the top of the line games and have a fast laptop, do I need a faster ram speed or size? Need laptop for 4k video editing and heavy gaming Posted: 30 May 2022 04:07 PM PDT Hello every one I have a couple of questions before I purchase my new laptop first of all, I currently run the Asus Tuf fx505gd Gtx 1050 intel core i7 - 8750 h 32 GB ddr4 128 GB SSD 1TB HDD I now struggle with 4k and even heavy 1080p video editing so I need help because I need something "future proof" that would last me like 5 or 6 years and I have no clue how the RTX lineup performs (i know they are good) but now I need good specs for what I have listed above and thanks in advance [link] [comments]
Yall i need help getting a laptop from best buy!! Please help: I only have like 6 hours... Posted: 30 May 2022 04:05 PM PDT I am torn in between a couple, but i don't want to clog up things. However, I am just looking for a laptop that is close to the one I have, which is a Lenovo s145, its not fancy but it does the job. I need something that can do light gaming like sims 4, video editing for Sony Vegas, and maybe office and excel. Nothing to fancy. Here are the choices I have rounded it out too. Should I also go with intel or AMD? Here is another hp pavilion. However this has an AMD ryzen 3 https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-15-6-touch-screen-laptops-amd-ryzen-3-8gb-memory-256gb-ssd-natural-silver/6477886.p?skuId=6477886 [link] [comments]

I need some help finding a laptop. Posted: 30 May 2022 03:32 PM PDT I'm looking for a laptop for my dad. He uses CAD a lot so I need at least 8gb of ram but preferably 16gb. Also he wants a num pad. My price range is $600 it can be a little more but not much. Does anyone have any recommendations? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 May 2022 03:26 PM PDT About to graduate high school and I will need a laptop for college. I plan on using it very scarcely for video games and mostly for general college work. I know there's the MacBook pro for $1999 but I'm not sure if that's the best one for the money or not. I don't have any other apple products so I cant really utilize the Apple services they provide. Does Windows or HP have any better laptops with better specs than apple for the money? [link] [comments]
Possibility of replacing laptop screen without digitizer Posted: 30 May 2022 03:07 PM PDT Hey there, I currently have an HP x360 Chromebook (14b-ca0000) and my screen has cracked, however it really is the digitizer and not the LCD. I checked the parts from HP and turns out that it can be quite expensive to get a new digitizer, and the part I ordered from some other company matching the part number only includes the LCD and not the digitizer. https://support.hp.com/ie-en/document/c06511284#en_ww-displayparts So anyhow, is it possible for me to somehow only buy the glass without the digitizer functions, since I don't require a touch screen (since I've installed Windows on the laptop and there are currently no touchscreen drivers anyway) Thanks [link] [comments]
Razer Blade Stealth 13 for 1k euro, what's the catch? Posted: 30 May 2022 02:41 PM PDT https://www.computeruniverse.net/de/p/90818045. I found this laptop on a German website, quite respected, ordered my GPU from there before. But I am pretty sure the MSRP for this laptop is around 2k$, what is the catch? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 May 2022 02:06 PM PDT I am so over planned obsolescence. Are there any laptop companies that don't do that? Also I enjoy the portability of laptops so I can bring it with me to coffee shops and in bed. That's why I want a laptop. I'm not going to be doing any gaming on the laptop. I just need it to not die in two years and to write, support my music library, pictures and videos, and art. [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 May 2022 02:02 PM PDT Which of these two processors - the i7-1255u or the Ryzen 5700u - is a better choice in general and especially for taking notes in college and programming (nothing too CPU-intensive, at least for now, but a little more power wouldn't hurt anyone)? P.S. The laptops I have in question have similar price points, so that wouldn't be much of a deciding factor. [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 May 2022 12:49 PM PDT Hello there Laptop users of the world, I'm in the market for a powerhouse gaming laptop. My absolute budget is 2900$ But I'm hoping to keep it under 2700$ without tax. This laptop MUST have an rtx 3080 or 3080ti. I'm looking for a machine with 16gb of v ram, 32gb of ram and a QLED display. HD displays are just too lack luster for me personally. I want a machine with a big power supply and no graphics capping with insufficient power supplies. TDLR: I want a full power 3080 laptop with at least a QLED Display. Is there any machine in this price range with these specs? Thanks [link] [comments]
