12th gen intel laptop's battery life ? Posted: 04 May 2022 08:30 AM PDT Hello guys, do anybody know if the poor battery life we see on 12th gen is due to bad hardware design (and marketing lies) or if it can be improved with future bioses and windows updates ? I saw a review (i think on hardware canuks) comparing 12th gen to ryzen 6000 power usage when locked at certain TDP. It was showing that at low TDP, ryzen was waaaaaay more performant. Meaning that for low power use, the ryzen would sip through the battery while doing the same tasks. Weren't E cores supposed to counter that ? Have they lied ? I'm askin that because the supply of AMD laptops is so low, it is painful to purchase an inferior product because the better product is nowhere to be found. [link] [comments]
Looking for Advice on laptops! Posted: 04 May 2022 07:41 AM PDT Hey guys, I'm looking to get some advice on what are good laptops. I'll be using it for work, day to day browsing, and games (CSGO & Minecraft). I do need the games to run smooth without any issues. Now, my budget is €700, but I can go up slightly if need be. I am looking at an Asus VivoBook (D413IAEK894R - model code) which seems to be decent. However I also saw an Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-55-57C4). Can someone give me advice on if these will do the job, for regular use and regular use for gaming. Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 May 2022 09:58 AM PDT It wont charge when I play games on it, so whenever it happens I have to unplug and plug the internal battery back on to resolve the issue. Any clues as to why this is happening? [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 May 2022 09:27 AM PDT Hello all, I have an old MSI laptop GS60 Ghostpro 2014/2015. I have an issue with noise coming from the fans, especially the CPU one, as it's used continuously. My question is if I can replace them with a newer version with offset blades for less noise. And where I can find ones that fit? I need them to be shipped in EU. I found (very hard) an after-market version of the ones that came from the factory but their quality is very low, and the noise is almost the same, so I'm thinking it's better to upgrade them. I need to specify that the laptop and implicitly the fans are slim (the height of the case is 7mm) so if the ones from the newer version laptops do not fit, maybe I can somehow frankenstein the new ones in the case of the old ones. Maybe you can help me with this. I am attaching photos with the current ones. (left-right is for when the normal side is up) Thanks for your help. Posted: 04 May 2022 09:20 AM PDT Hello. So today my friends laptop started acting really weird lol. When I turn it on, it instantly puts me into bios. What I can see here is an empty boot order and a CPU temperature gauge. And in like 10-15 secs, that temperature rises up to 205 degrees CELSIUS, laptop gets hot af and freezes. Restart it, same thing. I understand that the CPU probably isnt running that hot since it would melt itself and everything around it, but its really weird because it was running fine until today. Any suggestions? [link] [comments]

Will adding a 256gb ssd as a boot drive increase overall responsiveness? Posted: 04 May 2022 07:34 AM PDT So I have a Thinkpad L480 with a 1tb hdd as its drive and i've been thinking of getting an ssd to use as a boot drive with my 1tb hdd as a storage drive. I know using an ssd as a bootdrive will increase boot time but will it also increase the overall responsiveness of my system? Like I know things installed in the hdd will load slower but will the whole os be faster? [link] [comments]

Is it worth it buying a refurbished Mac? Posted: 04 May 2022 06:26 AM PDT I'm a college student wanting to replace my slow hp laptop and I'm looking at different options. I've seen a few refurbished Macs in Ebay but I'm wondering if because it's used I'll have to replace it too soon down the line. If you have any other suggestions for laptops for college please comment them. Budget is c.$350 [link] [comments]

Is it bad to leave a laptop plugged in all the time? Posted: 04 May 2022 05:52 AM PDT I'm about to get a new laptop and I want to take care of it and make it last. I want to know if leaving it plugged in all the time is going to harm it at all? Also when it comes to the laptop, how often should it be turned off or is it okay to be closed to enter low power mode? [link] [comments] |
