| What longstanding go-to apps have you recently replaced? Posted: 25 Apr 2022 04:36 PM PDT I've used AFWall for years to block internet access for apps that shouldn't need it, and slightly less long ago a DNSCrypt Magisk module. But recently InviZible Pro has replaced both. I prefer InviZible Pro where on installation of a new app, a pop-up notification appears to let you choose whether you want to enable internet access for it. AFWall required you to open up the app itself and re-apply the rules. On the DNSCrypt side, I find it much easier to configure the DNS rules via GUI than having to directly edit config files like the Magisk module I used required me to. The downside of InviZible Pro firewall's implementation is that it seems to timeout requests rather than outright deny access, making toubleshooting a bit tedious as you can't be sure if it's just the internet being slow, where AFwall results in a very distinct access denied message in browser apps. When I save YouTube videos in pocket and click on them in the pocket, the video is opened inside a browser built in pocket app which I don't want. I used to be able to tell Musicolet to scan in a folder managed by a different app (podcasts) and so make the MP3s there available to Musicolet. But in Android 11 the /Android/data/ path doesn't show up in the files picker any more and there doesn't see to be a way to use a different files picker. Is there some other way to add a folder from /Android/data/ to Musicolet's scan list? Perhaps even through an adb command if it's not possible to pick that folder from the app directly? Thanks! I'd love to wake up to a random song from a playlist of my own music every morning so that I'm not just hit with the same song over and over again but either this isn't a feature advertised in many apps so I'm missing it, or my google fu is weak and I can't find what I'm looking for. For example I can put in that I would be able to open those apps 10 times per hour and once I have opened them 8 times it gives me a warning and for the eleventh time the app is blocked. | Downloading Torrents from Android directly to external USB thumb drive Posted: 25 Apr 2022 11:41 AM PDT I've been trying to download torrents directly to an external 128GB thumb drive connected to my phone via a Type-A to Type-C adapter. (Because I have very little space in my internal storage, and my phone does not support SD cards) I've tried pretty much every torrent client I could find (LibreTorrent, tTorrent, zetaTorrent, etc.), and none of them had the option to choose an external storage option (even if they say they do online). Only the internal storage shows up. I've tried mounting the drive with Microsoft Paragon NTFS, but it changed nothing. The external storage option simply isn't there when I try to change the default save location. I've tried formatting the USB drive as "internal storage", but it simply disappeared from my file manager completely and my internal storage size stayed the same (had to reformat it back to portable storage afterwards). I'm not willing to do anything router/network related, since i'm not good at that stuff. I'm simply asking if someone knows any client that worked for them, and what they had to do to actually make it work. (BTW, i'm using a Xiaomi Mi 9T, with MIUI 12, NOT ROOTED) [link] [comments] |
| Google Messages Notification Bug + No Bug Report? Posted: 25 Apr 2022 11:23 AM PDT Just noticed that in Google Messages, there's a lot of times where I'll read a message, respond to it, and then another few minutes or hours later I get ANOTHER push notification for the same message or sometimes with MY OWN texts, very oddly. Well just now I figured out that I normally get these double notifications when another user (on RCS) reads my text. It's not consistent but it probably happens a few times a day (relative to me texting this person dozens of times daily), which is really odd to me. If it helps at all, I have bubbles and priority set for this contact at all. Wanted to know if anybody else had this problem or knew how to fix it? Also how the hell are you supposed to report bugs to Google regarding Messages? The app has a feedback form but that page explicitly says to use help or support for bugs... The Help section is all premade articles, and idk where to find a Support section at all. [link] [comments] |

It could be for note taking, pdf annotations, planners, etc. Useful medical apps are also welcome if you have suggestions.
