I WON THE 5 MILLION SUBS GIVE AWAY! Thank you to PC Building Community and Intel for This! Posted: 29 Apr 2022 04:10 PM PDT This is unreal. I just received my CPU, MoBo, and PSU today. I was speechless when I initially found out and just didn't believe it. But it's all here now and I still can't believe it. I just bought a pack of DDR5 ram to couple with the MoBo, which is for some reason ridiculously expensive. I am feeling a little but of an imposter syndrome with this as my build is serviceable, but I will be giving my old build to my GF's little brother who is going off to college in June seriously needs an upgrade from his Dell Optiplex. So, thank you everyone in this community, the forum, and at Intel for this. Without any if you guys I probably wouldn't have been able to fix some issues with my PC or maybe, possibly, help some people out here. I hope everyone is blessed with the same luck as me for at least the remainder of the year! [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Apr 2022 12:44 PM PDT Hey everyone :) I am feeling a bit unsafe about my PC and now I wonder if there are any GPS tracker suitable for a PC out there? Like maybe I can connect one to my motherboard or the battery is good enough to last a couple of days or even a week. Edit: This blew up, thank you everyone for all the suggestions!! PC on or under the desk? what's better? or is it all the same? Posted: 29 Apr 2022 12:47 PM PDT I've seen loads of people that have their PC's on the desk. I've always thought they do so because they just luke looking at the PC of something like that. But does it actually come with some advantages? Like better airflow or sum? I always kinda liked the idea of getting my PC up from the floor and put it on the desk but I'm too afraid I could knock it over 😅 Just asking out of curiosity! is it worth it to choose the 5700x over the 5600x? Posted: 29 Apr 2022 09:31 PM PDT Okay so i have been saving for the 5600x for a while now which was around 280$. However, a supplier is having a sale right now where the 5600x is 80$ cheaper and the 5700x is around 280$. Is the performance increase worth it for buying the 5700x or should i just jump the gun on the 5600x and use the extra budget for something else in the build. Is it okay to buy 3080 12GB if it's only 100$ over regular 3080? Posted: 29 Apr 2022 12:07 AM PDT Basically title. I'm based in EU and for some reason only 3080 12GB/Ti versions are sold at MSRP and everything else is extremely overpiced and now the gap between Ti and non-Ti is 100$. Thoughts? Any monitor plugged on my PC get's locked to 75hz apparently Posted: 30 Apr 2022 03:44 AM PDT Well, I used to have only one monitor: A LG 22mn430h-b. I recently bought a VIOTEK Reaper RFI25CBA, a 1080p 144hz monitor with adaptive sync (plugged through DP 1.2)... which seems to run at 144hz only on the desktop and then at 75hz on games, even the Okta speedtest application shows 75fps. I'm using a RX 6600 XT and I'm currently using the LG monitor as secondary screen (connected through HDMI). I have been troubleshooting this for a few days. I uninnstalled the drivers, used DDU, reinstalled them. Selected 144hz refresh rate in Windows display settings. First I thought this had to do with my second monitor limiting the main one, so I started looking about that escenario, and the recommendations were to enable GPU scaling and disable hardware acceleration on browsers. It didn't work. I also tried all combinations of enabling/disabling freesync on the main and secondary monitors. After that I gave up and decided to run the computer without a second screen while playing games... which didn't work either. It kept getting locked at 75hz on Ark: Survival evolved, Halo: Combat Evolved, Doom and Rocket League (which I installed only for testing). I then tried creating a custom resolution with a couple more hertz but it won't even be displayed in the list of available modes for the display adapter in Windows. I gave up on this... and then yesterday I remembered something: A couple months ago, before I had bought this 144hz monitor I sold my old RX 5600 XT and I let the buyer test it in my computer. He ran furmark... but it would also get locked at 75hz, even with vsync and freesync off. I have never encountered an issue of applications getting locked at a certain refresh rate before. At the moment I haven't found any information that could help me with this. I'm wondering if I could get some help here. My PC:CPU: Ryzen 5 5600 (I had a R5 2600 when the buyer tested my previous GPU and had the same 75hz lock issue in furmark).MOBO: Asus Prime X570-PGPU: XFX RX 6600 XT Swft 210Memory: Crucial Ballistix 3200mhz, 8GB x2, Micron E-dieStorage: WD 750 Black NVME SSD, A couple Barracuda HDDs and a Lexar Mx100 Sata SSD. Edit: I forgot to say this: According to Radeon Software, the monitor's freesync range is from 48 to 144hz. [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Apr 2022 03:33 AM PDT I would like some advice/criticism on how to improve my build both in terms of lower noise and more budget-friendly parts. The only thing I will do with it is play (AAA) video games at 1440p 144hz, nothing more, so no video editing ..etc. I also already have the screen, keyboard and mouse. Water cooling and glass cases are also preferably to be avoidable.
Am I leaving any performance on the table by choosing too high-end of a certain part, which I could better invest the money somewhere else? Am I missing anything that you guys would do differently? Do I need to buy more fans for the case to achieve a quiet-er/cooler PC? [link] [comments]
Silly questions by someone lost. Posted: 30 Apr 2022 03:27 AM PDT So I got my computer second hand from my brother. We built it together like 5 6? Years ago anyways I was really struggling to play divinity 2 or pathfinder on it so looked into upgrading. While I've never upgraded a component I have built computers so Idk why I have this anxiety. User benchmark said I had a big GPU bottleneck which seems fair to my outdated knowledge I have a i7 4790 But a gtx 980 (this was gotten right when 10xx series was coming out I believe) Should I be worried about anything if I do just buy a new graphics card? My minimal understanding is my CPU is still solid and my power supply and 16gb ram is still fine. I mostly play indie games so running into actual problems with games is a bit frustrating... Then second question is if I can just buy a GPU what should I look into I know second hand can be scary from mining rigs completely over running components, and idk wtf is even good right now isn't the 30xx series out now do I do 1080? 20xx? Idk either way it will take awhile to get for me. [link] [comments]
when upgrading a gpu what else should i look at buying? Posted: 30 Apr 2022 05:55 AM PDT So i am upgrading my gpu from my pc which was built in 2013, so its pretty old. I bought the gtx 1660 super. I was wondering what is necessary for me to buy for it to function properly? Because i realised i need to buy a better psu, or else it wont work well. So is there anything else necessary to buy? Changed CMOS battery but still need press F1 to boot Posted: 30 Apr 2022 05:36 AM PDT I have an old PC with 2004 EPoX motherboard. It needs pressing f1 to boot. So I googled and find out I must change my old CMOS battery. So I changed my old CR2032 battery with a new one but the problem still unsolved. In " Magic Health" section, Voltage of new battery is about 2.95 which is fine. [link] [comments]
Question regarding Minecraft fps on AMD gpus. Posted: 30 Apr 2022 05:33 AM PDT I'm considering getting a 6700xt due to the fact they're basically at msrp where I live. I play at 1080p and am in no position to wait until rtx 4000 (on a 1050 ti rn). I've seen a few reports of AMD gpus having bad performance on Minecraft due to it running on OpenGL. Can anyone with an amd card confirm or deny this? Going NVIDIA is an option but i'd have to buy a 3060 ti instead which performs worse in literally every other game relevant to me. Thoughts on adding a GPU on an APU build Posted: 30 Apr 2022 01:46 AM PDT I have this build for over 4 months now and have been able to play some known game titles. I wanted to push even further for my build and play high-tier games like RDR2, Nier: Automata, Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, and other high-on-graphic titles. I am saving up for a GPU (specifically the AMD Radeon RedDevil 6600 XT) but after researching the downsides of adding a GPU on an APU build, I need more information whether it is the right call to make or not. Is it possible to add a GPU (specifically high-tier as said above) to an APU build that is this decent? (My build is below) I apologize in advanced as I'm not techy-driven enough to fully understand the APU's capabilities when I'm asking for a possibility of adding a GPU. Feel free to layout your advice as I REALLY need it. My current build:

My computer only uses half of the ram (16gb) while the other half (16gb) is "hardware reserved" Posted: 30 Apr 2022 02:27 AM PDT I have a B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC (MS-7B85) motherboard and for three years I have been using 16gb ram (Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3000MHz CL15 Vengeance LPX) without any issues. Today I decided to buy 2x8=16gb more RAM (the exact same product as before). I put them in to the remaining last slots firmly securing them in place. When running dxdiag, the memory seems to be recognized: https://i.stack.imgur.com/wSchF.png However, in the task manager only 16gb is available and it says that another 16gb is "hardware reserved": https://i.stack.imgur.com/ZL9zZ.png This is the information in the BIOS: https://i.stack.imgur.com/R43i6.png How do I enable all of my 32gb of ram? I am starting to get really worried that my motherboard only supports 2x8gb RAM and not 4x8gb RAM even if all of the RAM are the same product. Could this be possible? Help with connecting and disconnecting USB port Posted: 30 Apr 2022 04:38 AM PDT Hi guys, I recently built my first PC a few weeks ago. Motherboard: MSI B550-A Pro CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x GPU: KFA2 Rtx 3080 10gb PSU: Corsair TX850M 850W Case: NZXT H510 flow RAM: 16gb Corsair vengeance LPX 3600MHz Storage: 1Tb WD Black SN850 Pcie Gen 4 (boot drive) 2Tb Seagate HDD (game drive) Everything works fine. I installed Windows 11. But I noticed that my front USB C port on my case was a bit unreliable (disconnecting from my phone when I wiggled it, but nothing too crazy. I could still use it if i kept it still) I spoke to the retailer I bought the case from and they sent me a replacement IO for my case. I installed it today and my usb C port works fine. But now the USB A port on my case is having the same issue but its way worse, like constant disconnecting to the point i can't transfer any files from my phone. And weirdly it ONLY happens with my phone. Not my mums phone, not my usb thumb drive, only my phone. I also connected my phone using the same usb wire and one of the back usb A ports on my motherboard and everything is fine. The connection is stable. Please help because I don't know where to even start or who to talk to. [link] [comments]
best budget "gaming" cpu for gtx1080 Posted: 29 Apr 2022 02:53 PM PDT Whats the best budget cpu for a gtx1080 on the intel side to not bottleneck my system? [link] [comments]
Samsung 980 Pro NVME died in 20 days. Posted: 29 Apr 2022 11:16 PM PDT I came home from work, turned on my pc and the nvme disappeared from my pc. I freaked out, immediately turned off my pc, removed the nvme, waited a bit, reinstalled it back, and it still didn't show up. It would black screen for around 20 seconds when booting up, but when I removed the nvme it was fine. It also doesn't show up in disk management or bios. I switched my Kingston nvme (the one that holds my Windows) to the M2 slot that was holding the Samsung 980 Pro just to check if it was the slot or the thing is actually dead. The slot works fine. My specs:Cpu: i9-9900KGpu: RTX 2080 superMotherboard: Msi z390 I had contacted the shop I bought it from (no dodgy shit, most reputable shop in HK- 2000Fun) and told them it had died but I didn't have the box. They first said that it's not 100% confirmed dead, and a i9-9900k is not supported with a PCIE 4 nvme and that it needs to be in the 11 series in order for it to work. Then I said, ok so why did it work for 20 days then die? They said something along the lines of it could work but stop working later on, whatever this means. Then they proceeded to tell me that they can't replace it or refund because I didn't keep the box. And I quote "us checking your nvme is already a big courtesy for something you don't have" Samsung being so reputable, I didn't think it would die in 20 days, I thought the receipt was enough (I bought it on their website) so when my mom said hey I'm throwing this stuff do you need it I said no. Lost 300 USD and my data, I don't know what to do now. [link] [comments]

Whats the best £600 upgrade for a GPU, CPU and mobo? Posted: 30 Apr 2022 03:27 AM PDT I'm looking to upgrade my 3400g and 1650 in a few months and I want to know what parts would be the best for a £600 or so budget [link] [comments]
Unsure on GPU choice for my setup Posted: 30 Apr 2022 12:56 AM PDT hey! the gpu's in my country have come down to near MSRP and im going to get one but i was looking for a little bit of extra advice surrounding my current setup + goals with it! Currently i game on 1080p 60hz, i am looking to move to 1440p 140hz with this GPU upgrade. I am mainly looking at 3070/3070ti's but the difference seems neglible between the two for the most part, however they are the same price (give or take 50$ either end depending on retailer). my current build is : Case - Corsair Spec-01 CPU - I7-9700F GPU - MSI GTX 1070 ARMOR PSU - Seasonic Focus GX 650w Gold RAM - 4x8GB 3200mhz cl 16 MOBO - Asus Z390-P Storage devices - x2 sata SSD 256gb x1 500gb 7.2k RPM HDD FANS - x4 120mm case fans x1 cpu cooler fan No optical drive/wifi card Games that I play: Black desert online, Lost ark, Warzone, Phantasy star online, Simcity etc... I don't play any triple A games that are like solo RPG's with insane graphic requirements/potential (like red dead or elden ring etc) prices between 3070ti and 3070 are similar in my country with neglible difference. I'd like to max out graphics and have stable FPS at 1440p in the games I listed however i am just a bit concerned with the power draw from a 3070ti over the 3070 with my current PSU and other components, and is it even really worth to get a 3070ti because I mean, all these latest cards are powerhouses... so what would you go for/advise me on with this setup and goals? c: Thanks in advance :D [link] [comments]
12600K 3070 Not as good as I expected... Posted: 30 Apr 2022 03:04 AM PDT Hey all, I've recently rebuilt my pc, got new cpu, gpu, psu and mobo. I was expecting a huge fps boost in the games I play but I am kinda disappointed atm. I play mostly squad and warzone. In squad I get around 80fps regardless if settings are high or low. In warzone I get around 90 fps on the lowest setting with 12ms cpu and 5 ms gpu time. I play 1080p and my cpu is ocd to +2 offset and its running around 1.3 V stable, stock ring ratio. My ram still need an upgrade which is a 16gb 2400mhz cl16 single stick. I feel like this setup should run the above games well over 100 fps consistently, but I now have a doubt that it will improve after ram upgrade. my system: MSI MPG z690 edge 750W corsair psu 12600k +2 offset OC MSI 3070 8GB Ballistix sport 2400 MHZ CL16 1x16gb Noctua NHD15 Any thoughts on this? Did I missed something apart from the ram situ? [link] [comments]

Build review i5 12600k / RTX 3080 Posted: 30 Apr 2022 02:23 AM PDT Hello all, wishing a sunny Bank Holiday, been too cold these past few days. I trust all the information below should give you the idea of this build. Looking for issues or concerns with configuration and advice on buying parts. I have Amazon Prime, no other PC part store accounts. Budget - I can play within the budget, which is around £2000 with the PC components + GPU + monitor + OS. So it would be a case of saving cost on some of these components to shift cash around. This is a UK build which is built mainly for gaming with other uses being some light home office, primary school homework and some light photo and video editing, very amateur. Not going to stream, no VR headset plans. Games I will typically play single player. Sim/Strat games Factorio, City Skylines, Tropico, Surviving Mars, Anno. AAA I play co-op/solo Halo Infinite, CyberPunk, No Mans Sky, RDR2. I am not playing competitive in any genre. Looking for good and relatively future proofed performance to match the current gen consoles. 60FPS+ on ultra 1440p No overclocking. Not looking at 4K in this builds lifetime. I want the system to continue to be performing in line with current gen, so 5-7 years. I will add storage as and when, but believe this will be sufficient for first 2years. I understand performance will drop as software improves and hardware remains as is, that's ok. I have nothing aside from stock KB&M, buying all from scratch. Monitor budget is ~£300 and have these two in mind, leaning more to Samsung, but interested in thoughts. • Dell 32 Curved S3222DGM • Samsung Odyssey LC32G55TQWUXEN 32" G55 I am already subscribed to Discord and Telegram stock alerts for Nvidia GPU FE cards from Scan. Integrated graphics on the mobo to allow me to build now and add GPU later. I have a large list of 10+ year old games that are fine without the GPU. Peripherals not worried for now, I have some basic KB&M to use for a few months, before delving into that research. I read other posts here for regular recommendations, so comfortable for now. Need OS Windows, I think 10 is right for now for stability and compatibility, will move to 11 when the majority start to move. What's the best way to buy these days. I already buy Family O365 codes, if that has benefits. Not bothered at all about any RGB, 100% function over style. Thank you for your time.

Help needed on HDD cooling mod for O11D XL Posted: 30 Apr 2022 02:17 AM PDT Hi folks. I need help in mounting a 92mm fan(Arctic non-PWM) aimed at my HDD cage of my O11 XL. Due to lack of airflow the temps were around 45-47 degrees Celsius. Once I pointed a fan towards it blowing air at 100% speed(since its a DC, non-PWM one), temps decreased by 12 degrees. But my present mounting is very bad and ghetto. The top HDD cage is present only so there is an empty space between the PSU and the top cage since the second cage is removed and is not used. I have secured the fan using a laminated copper wire tied to the fan hole and the bottom of the HDD cage for now but I need help to improve this.
