Is there a way I can capture audio from the browser? Posted: 26 Mar 2022 05:18 PM PDT A streaming service I've been using is closing in my area. I am looking into migrating to other services, but the big problem is some of the stuff is really obscure and I haven't been able to find it in any of the alternative platforms; so I really want to save that stuff. Is there a way I can capture that audio from Firefox? A plug-in or something? If I can capture some basic metadata that would be helpful as well (but I can always enter it in by hand). Window guy, teach me this disk mounting root business. Posted: 26 Mar 2022 06:37 PM PDT So I don't want to badger the folks on the proxmox forums. I want to understand with certainty where my linux OS (promox) is running from, in a physical perspective. I know that's kind of dumb and simple but I don't know how to confirm this. So how do I see where / is genuinely mounting? When I type df for drive free space, it doesn't say 60GB (hence my confusion?) df -h =
Seems to show a 15GB disk, not 60?! So I'm lost, sorry - I have no idea how to make "real" sense of the physical location of my partitions and how to make use of the remaining, 190GB of space on the NVMe drive to use for LXC / VMs. Sorry - any guide or advice will help [link] [comments]

I have no idea what to do, also I tried to look for a solution online and nothing worked. Please help and Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
How do I go back to Windows 10 from Pop!_OS? Posted: 26 Mar 2022 04:27 PM PDT I installed Pop!_OS however it doesn't suit my needs so I want to go back to Windows 10. I mounted the windows 10 iso file to my 32 gig USB drive but in the BIOS there are 2 options with a bunch of random strings and they both go back to Pop!_OS. In the boot menu (f8) the usb doesn't even show up as an option, it's just the bios menu, pop_os and pop_os restore. I'm on an Asus laptop with Pop!_OS 21.10 installed. The BIOS menu is InsydeH2O UEFI BIOS. Secure boot is disabled and so is fast boot, I tried legacy boot but that didn't do anything because it still didn't detect the USB 3.0 flash drive which I know has the windows 10 stuff on it. Please help me as this is getting very frustrating, I've tried looking up a bunch of different wordings of this issue but none of them seem to be any help. woeUSB doesn't work anymore which I see so many videos about so I don't know if it's just too late now or what? Fedora: how change shell to fish? Posted: 26 Mar 2022 12:46 PM PDT I've installed fish and run chsh to switch to this shell, but had to revert to bash, because core commands like logout, reboot or poweroff would not work, so what have i done wrong, since doing the same with zsh worked flawlessly. Switching from Windows to Linux: I have no clue about partiotions, uefi and all. Posted: 26 Mar 2022 09:10 AM PDT Hi allI want to switch to Linux specifically Arch. In the past I was succesful in installing it manually on a new system that then I overwrite to install Windows 10 which was just released. Installing Arch was quite the challenge and now I see there is the installer so I'll go for it.Now I have this litte problem, I really don't understand at all the whole partitions volumes and stuff so I have a couple of questionsFirst of alla I summarize my system partition situation which I inherit from the automated partitioning done by Windows when I installed the thing
Here are my doubts, questions: Where on earth do I have to install Arch? The Disk 2 is the one I installed Windows on because it is a very nice ssd PCIe NVMe M.2 i bought to instal games and system on it. At the moment though Windows occupy a large part of it even if i disinstalled as much as I could all the programs I seldomly use.I am under the impression that I would have to install Arch on another Hard Disk than the Windows One, correct? I would like to avoid to do yet another partion on the C: disk as I will in time get rid of all the files I don't need in Windows once I am happy with all the replacement I found in linux and possibly just keep windows for the unlikely need of a windows only program :)Why do I have 2 Recovery partitions? Can I get rid of one?I tried to shrink the windows instalaltion and it gave me only 85 gb of space - i guess this would be sufficient though to install Arch but then I would have to do add this unallocated space to what? Do I have to make a partition only of 44 gb to run Arch there? Why can't I use more space for Arch?C: is my most valuable ssd so I want to install the most demanding programms and games there and one of them is 100gb+ game! :) What happen if I install Arch on the other SSD disk and then I install a huge program on the C: drive? Will Widows stop to function because I got over the minimal free storage space? The various wiki are very useful for the install process and I am fine with that, I just need to understand where to start. All of this could be easily solved by buying a ssd, move windows there and then install Arch on the C: drive - but I am also poor at the moment so I would rather not spend more money on SSD and use the ones I have with a different setup Another solution could be to install Arch on another SSD, move Windows on the other HD whish is a normal HD and then I would have all the C: free hd, would this be possible? Thank you in advance, sorry if I make little sense but the whole partition thingy is a huge mystery for me :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Mar 2022 05:32 PM PDT Hi, I recently switched from Pop!_OS to EndeavourOS (KDE). I've been using Jellyfin on Pop for months with no issues and I'm trying to recreate the same thing on Endeavour, but I'm having problems. The movies I want to watch on Jellyfin are on an internal secondary SSD (Crucial) and the TV series are on an external USB HD (Seagate). On Pop I had used the command to give the Jellyfin libraries permissions to read files from the disks and it worked. I don't understand what the problem is, maybe on Arch the command is different, but here when I do the same thing it works the same way, with the difference that every time I turn off the computer and turn it back on (and then unmount and remount the disks) my Jellyfin becomes completely blank. Only when I re-run does my entire library reappear. Should I automatically mount the disks at login or not? How should I do this? And how can I permanently set permissions without having to do it all over again every time I turn on the computer? [link] [comments]

Posted: 26 Mar 2022 08:04 AM PDT I have to go into my display settings and change it to something lower, then back to 144.03Hz to get it working, and I have to do it on every boot. This was not an issue before I plugged in a second monitor, but after I have to do this every boot, even if the monitor is not plugged in. The strangest part is the settings only go down to 59.93Hz, which when set is still much smoother than the refresh rate I see when I first boot my computer. Can't get a supported fingerprint reader to work using fprintd. Posted: 26 Mar 2022 01:31 PM PDT Hey all, just got a new computer and decided to install Linux Mint. Everything seems to be working smoothly since I updated the kernel to Linux 5.13.0-37. The only thing is I can't enroll a fingerprint reader. This is the output I get when I run fprintd-enroll $ fprintd-enroll Using device /net/reactivated/Fprint/Device/0 Enrolling right-index-finger finger. Enroll result: enroll-unknown-error According to the list of supported devices, my fingerprint reader (27c6:639c) should work. A bit of background of the environment I'm in, I'm running Linux Mint 20.3 Cinnamon. The first thing I did when I got everything running was run apt upgrade. Other than that I updated the kernel from 5.4 to 5.13 using the update manager. Let me know if I'm missing anything because it's not fun having to type my password this often. Edit1: So I have an interesting development. Apparently, I can't enroll my right thumb or my right index finger. Every other finger still works though. [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Mar 2022 09:16 AM PDT After I select my OS (garuda linux) in grub, I immediately get greeted with the message shown in the picture. I still boot into the OS fine, but I wanted to know if this error could cause issues down the line. This issue began to appear when I turned off CSM in BIOS. Issue wasn't fixed after turning it back on. All help appreciated. [link] [comments]

Dual monitor setup, main is 144hz but feels like 60 Posted: 26 Mar 2022 11:08 AM PDT I am on Ubuntu LTS, GPU is Nvidia. I set my monitor to 144hz in the settings, and in the Nvidia settings, but it doesn't seem to work. Only the cursor is moving at 144hz for some reason... Does anyone know how to solve it? Thanks!
