I've 2 years of experience and want to switch technology as networking is hard for me to learn. Which technology to switch in where my experience can be utilized and its easier to find a job?

Does it make sense to put a resume on a personal website?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2022 03:41 AM PDT

So I just finished my personal website to help me find coding/dev/UI jobs. I have a few links on there linking to my Dribbble portfolio, LinkedIn, and Github. I was thinking of putting my resume as well but I'm not sure it would make too much sense. Most of the information is already displayed on the website but I'm not sure if maybe hiring managers, etc would like to see it and such?

    What are your guys' thoughts?

Started a new development job and the repository for the project I am going to be maintaining and expanding on doesn't compile... how concerned should I be?

    Posted: 24 Mar 2022 07:48 PM PDT

I do not have a ton of years in development, but I feel like I have some basic standards and am regular-level competent. I am incredibly concerned about the operation I just joined that was sold to me as having a mature CI/CD pipeline, processes, etc. This project hasn't been committed to in ages and I suspect the CI/CD is all smoke and mirrors.

I am fine with wrangling some legacy code and bringing it up to speed, but its weird that that was not really how this job was presented to me.

    Am I crazy?

Cloud security analyst salaries and outlook? Currently an intern in cloud security role.

    Posted: 24 Mar 2022 07:15 PM PDT

I am currently going to be an intern at a public cyber security company and will be working with cloud security mainly AWS. Was wondering what usually salaries are in cloud security roles after graduation.

IT career with no experience, and no college. (LONG POST. TL;DR BELOW)

    Posted: 24 Mar 2022 10:59 PM PDT

Hello everyone! So basically a few weeks ago I was dead set on going into nursing, my heart was dead set on the medical field. It was up until I was rewatching the Jackass series, without involving too much "NSFW" information about one of the bits that changed my mind. Let just say it was an older woman washing off Chris Pontius in the shower that made me sort of shift. (I only include this because I think it's funny)

So anyhow, upon stumbling on "web developer", "cloud engineer". It made me really think.. I know absolutely NOTHING about IT, and the complex nature of the IT field and how almost anyone can learn fascinates me! I've always been the guy to pick up something excruciatingly difficult to learn and master just out of either pure boredom or obsession. I figured one of the more straight forward things to learn is coding, I feel as if coding is a very good base, and a good place to start if you want to teach yourself technical stuff. So I've been picking up the fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) I haven't been this stoked and excited in a VERY long time about learning something.

Now, down to probably the biggest FAQ on this subreddit. What's the likelihood of a fella like me with zero tech experience, zero college, a GED, with only a Lenovo laptop at the moment, and very little money getting into the IT field? I mean, nothing is gonna stop me from pushing forward, I'm already getting obsessed (which is a blessing and a curse for me) I live in a very small rural town in South Texas, the only "technical" jobs in my area is probably installing satellite dishes for peoples cable, or hooking up internet. My second question, what's the likelihood with all the attributes I mentioned of a guy like me landing my first IT job REMOTELY? ANY answer is appreciated.

TL;DR: I want to get into IT with no experience, no college, and live in an area with no IT jobs. What's the chance of me getting a job or remote gig?

What's the best way to get into IT without extensive schooling?

    Posted: 24 Mar 2022 09:09 PM PDT

I'm looking into getting into the IT career field but I'm not sure where to start. I work a full time job so I can't really get schooling for it with my schedule so I was looking for more online suggestions. Any help I could get on how to get started would be greatly appreciated!

Good entry level Cybersecurity jobs for college students

    Posted: 24 Mar 2022 08:18 PM PDT

I want to know what would be some good jobs for someone who wants to be in Cybersecurity.

By next year, I'll have my security+, network+, and AWS SAA cert.

I'll have knowledge in Linux, Python, and C# .

I would prefer roles that are not customer facing.

Role switch GUIDANCE .From SPARK-JAVA developer to BA who is preparing for a MBA exam .PLS HELP.

    Posted: 24 Mar 2022 08:00 PM PDT

    Hi 27F ,

I have worked on a spark-java development project for 2 years and before that was working on a kronos project .

I have been preparing for the MBA exam for the past 3 years because coding has not interested me much.

#years for MBA exam preparation might sound alarming though I can give xyz reasons for my insincerity. I have realized my mistakes .Thereby I wanted to give myself another opportunity to do something i love .

For better representation in MBA interviews I am planning to shift to a BA role as development mostly pushed me in the backend .

Should I stay as a developer or shift to BA .

If so, I just wanna know the scope of a BA just in case MBA is not in my FATE .I am determined to give my heart and soul for MBA prep but wanted to keep a fall back option .

Kindly guide me .Thanks for taking time to help a fellow human being .

    Thanks a zillion .

College Student wanting to start IT experience but can’t even get a interview

    Posted: 24 Mar 2022 07:29 PM PDT

Hello guys, I'm coming into Reddit for some help. I am a sophomore in university going for a Bachelors in Cyber, made a change before starting the university to study in tech.. I graduated with my Associates in Business Management during high school so I don't have any experience in IT. I got my IT Google Cert cause it was an easy cert and I'm working in AZ-900 Microsoft and also learning python. I applied in many help desk support jobs but I don't even get a interview. What am I doing wrong? Many jobs ask for at least a year in help desk which I don't have! FYI most jobs I worked had been customer service.
