    Are laptop batteries meant to bulge like this? I'm using a PC Specialist laptop if that helps and I've had it for over 2 years now

    Does a Laptop's battery break when charged while in use?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2022 01:26 AM PST

    I'm seriously tired arguing with mom about this. I've done a bit of browsing about the subject and I just wanna ask if a laptop's battery breaks if I use a laptop while it's charging? I'm tired arguing with my mom and I just wanna know now. She keeps snooping through my laptops and shit.

    Poll: How do you use and charge your laptop?

    Posted: 19 Feb 2022 01:24 AM PST

    The idea is this, tell me, how do you use your laptop? How do you charge it? How do you take care of your battery health?

    I own a Surface Pro 8 from Dec 2021, since then I have 17 battery cycles made in the 30/40 to 70/80% range. Making a daily battery report from the cmd, I noticed that from 52.xxx mAh, the remaining capacity reached somewhere at 48,900 mAh - 49,300 mAh (the design capacity of the battery is 50,230).

    I don't do heavy things on it, in general I use it for media consumption (so the problem couldn't be from heat generated from cpu doing heavy things) and it seems suspicious to me that the battery life drops so suddenly.

    What do you think? This charging habit from 40 - 80% help or does it hurt more the battery? Is it okay to keep it plugged in all the time? I know there is a kiosk mode, but everytime after I use the tablet in that mode, the report shows an even worse remaining capacity of the battery.

    And now, please tell me:

    - the name of your device and when you have bought it;

    - what's your Cycle Count, Design Capacity and Remain Capacity (in cmd, enter the command powercfg /batteryreportand then enter in file explorer -> users -> your name -> batteryreport.html);

    - for what do you use it in general (do you use it for heavy things that make the processor reach high temperatures often?);

    - how to charge the device (do you keep it plugged in all the time? or do you charge it within a certain range? or you just dodn't care about this);

    Thanks a lot!

    Where is my hard drive??? I’ve been using my ASUS laptop for the past couple of years, and just this morning when I turned it on, it booted me straight to the BIOS and showed no storage devices. I opened it up for the first time, and don’t even see a storage device anywhere. I’m so confused.

    Recommendations for good laptops to play games and study for around $2000 AUD, I was looking at MSI Prestige 14 but I'm not sure if it's good.

    Help me choose between Macbook Air M1 vs Asus Zenbook Oled 13

    Posted: 18 Feb 2022 08:56 PM PST

    Hello Everyone! I'm new to the laptop/pc world and I really don't know much about it, I do illustrate and use photoshop often with the PC I was given with about 2 years ago and I don't really have any problem with it anyway, I'm planning to buy a laptop for the same uses and I was hoping anyone could help me choose the better one and more futureproof one

    So the thing the budget is tight and I could only afford the base model for the Macbook Air M1 (256 GB Storage, 8gb Ram, 8 core CPU and 7 core GPU) and was wondering if that's a better option than Asus Zenbook 13 OLED (512 gb SSD, 8gb ram, AMD Ryzen 7 5700u) I honestly don't know which to choose and which one would last longer since neither is upgradable, please please help me

    Q: how bad is to run cpu at 90°C for extended time

    Posted: 18 Feb 2022 02:51 PM PST

    Hi

    As i wrote in title, i have a concern about runing cpu at high(er) temperature. I am runing deepfacelab tool and it puts my cpu at constant 88-93° Other components dont go over 82° Anyway, i would like to know how bad is to run it ,lets say 30-40 hours straight at that temp? Is 82° much for gpu for longer times?

    Also, i noticed when its cold in the room i get lower temps bit i forgot how much... I suppose i could put laptop in room without heating to reduce for few degrees..

    And i would do that few times a month.. I dont know much about topic so i would like to hear more from people who do

    edit: https://i.imgur.com/ugZkWmB.png there are components if it means anything also, i just noticed it goes to 94 actually..

    Thanks everyone

    Samsung Laptop

    Posted: 18 Feb 2022 07:21 PM PST

    Ok i did buy a used laptop put a new battery on it (none came with it)

    Its a np350v5c-a01ca

    Sometime it boot (samsung Logo then windows) sometime it dont. If a remove a memory stick it always boot no mather what slot it is and no mather which stick it is. Its very weird. No bios update found by samsung update . Running on w10 but doesnt change anything here.

    It came with 6g from samsung website . But its having 2 older 2gb stick in it. I want to update it for speed. but im affraid laptop got another problem . Or i could put 1 8g stick this would dramatically improve perfomance.

    Also when it boot it seems to be ok . i didnt test ram with any software but i did install windows 10 (today) and it ran fine .

    I wanted to at least raise it to 8g of ram and probably put an 250gb ssd to speed it up . I will probably just play on my megasquirt (car custom ecm) with it. But i want it to run well and not to wait too much ..

    So what would you do or what do you think ??

    Thanks

    Does performing consecutive factory resets cause damage to windows laptop?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2022 03:30 PM PST

    I've been having issues with installing/integrating software on my Asus laptop. Nonetheless, I've figured everything out. I performed a factory reset 2times last year, 1 time last night, and I'm about to perform another factory reset at any moment. Will this affect my laptop and it's components in any way? (Like the SSD? Or any other components).

    Thanks in advance!

    Hey guys I need Help.

    Posted: 18 Feb 2022 06:57 PM PST

    I am an IT student from the Philippines, and I have a huge problem, my one and only laptop (HP 14S-cf0082tx) stops working. I already bring it to multiple repair shops, but they can't seem to trace the problem, they said it was a board problem. If you have a dead/not working HP 14s-cf0082tx laptop, can I buy it.

    PS: please help, I really need a laptop, I can't finish my school works, and my family can't afford a new laptop, help please😭

    Squeaking Laptop Charger

    Posted: 18 Feb 2022 02:56 PM PST

    I have an 15 year old laptop with the original charger and when it is plugged to the contact it emits continous squeaking noise. When i plug it off the contact it slowly goes silent. When i plug it off the laptop it transforms into a buzzing noise instead of "squeaking". Is there anything to worry about or it is just normal? (I don't have money to buy a new charger, it isn't my main laptop also) (The sound doesn't change when the laptop is turned off) The laptop is Acer Extensa 5220 but that's probably not important here.

    HELP *local disk gone and more +

    Posted: 18 Feb 2022 05:59 PM PST

    HELP ! ASUS windows 11 ( Newly auto updated)

    Please if there is somewhere else I can be directed to message me

    On Sunday I opened my laptop to do my homework and my pin was disabled and I could not get in. I couldn't remember my password for the admin user. I purchased a USB recovery reset and did as told. I got Into my computer and it did an auto windows 11 update but noticed my wifi was gone, my microphone , and much more. When I tried to enable the wifi it wasn't even there at all and when I check the local drives there just one local disk OS:(C:). The network says it's disabled and to enable discovery but I can't even do that.

    The prompt I keep getting is " (explorer exe. System error *On top )the system detected an overrun of a stack based buffer in This application. They overrun could potentially allow a malicious user to gain control of this application"

    Then when I try to sign into the admin it's s black blue screen and sometimes it says " hardware error" but Doesn't let me get in unless I go in safe mode.

    I tried doing the system update and nothing I tried the CMD health restore I tried the device manager HKEY changing the explorer info I tried the full windows scan I tried the clear boot I wasn't able to do the system restore or the restoring point said it wasn't allowed and no file available

    Do I have a virus ? Can I just wipe the whole thing clean and restart ?
