    Happy Type: affirmation typing app

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 10:56 PM PST

I am very happy to share my latest creation with this community 😀
I made an application called Happy Type. It allows you to type quotes and affirmations.

Type a sentence that gives you strength every day.
It makes you feel better and helps you have a more energetic day.

    The app is completely free.
If you try it, let me know what you think.

How to block WiFi for all apps except for WhatsApp?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2022 03:17 AM PST

    Hi.

Can anyone recommend a simple easy of restricting WiFi access to all apps except WhatsApp please?

It's my daughter's first phone and I thought I'd try her off with an SMS and calls only SIM card but most of her friends use WhatsApp and so I want a way to allow her access to WiFi at home for WhatsApp but to block Google, YouTube, etc for now.

Would apps such as netguard work for instance?

Thanks in advance from a technologically limited dad!!

I'm looking for an app that acts as a "morning hub" which will display tasks, calendar appointments, weather, time, news, commute times, etc all on one screen.

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 08:38 PM PST

Basically I want to mount an old device to my bathroom mirror that will show me everything ahead for the day as I'm getting ready without having to manually interact with it.

Looking for an app that reminds you to do something you on a certain date/time, but keeps going off in time intervals until you mark it as complete - I have ADHD

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 09:50 AM PST

Basically like a "snooze" but being able to set it for any day on the calendar and where you can set the "snooze interval".

Edit: Thank you all for the suggestions. I found the one: Any.do

Messaging App (Text) that lets me create and apply rule based filters and lables (Just like what GMAIL allows us to do)

    Posted: 27 Jan 2022 06:42 AM PST

I want a text message (SMS) to get automatically deleted if it cantains a specific phrase or word(s).

I have tried a few but most of them are just reskinned version of the same app, some do group the messages but I can't still apply manual filters to them.

I hope an app like that do exists.

    Thanks in advance

Editing text files in the Google Drive app.

    Posted: 27 Jan 2022 06:21 AM PST

I'm having trouble accessing some text files from the Android Google Drive app. I can open files that end with .txt - they open with some editor that works. But when I try to open a file like ".bashrc", it asks for a helper app to open it and none of the helper apps are working to open it. On the desktop, using Chrome, I can open either type of file just fine.

Notification icon on my Android that disappears shortly my phone starts up

    Posted: 27 Jan 2022 04:21 AM PST

Been noticing this app and thought it could be an android related app since it's an s with two dot eyes and antenna but the fact that I can't find it on any image searches is suspect. I can't even screenshot it since it disappears so quickly; best I got was a picture with another phone.

What is the best Android music player for local music?

The ultimate music player, I'm looking for a nice looking one and with a lot of customization. Equalizer isn't important because I use viper4android. Thanks

    Samsung internet vs chrome?

    • Looking for something widely used so doesnt break sites
    • And adblock with extension (or inbuilt adblock that is shown to be better than with extension)

Someone says ss is good. But they didn't say any specific reason or features why it was good

This link from google has very little info like lots of sites that come up when you google things https://googlechromecast.com/google-chrome-vs-samsung-internet/

    These are top options

    • Chrome
      • Chrome has no extension support at all when last checked
      • Chrome has a site setting to allow or block "intrusive or misleading" ads, but the way it's worded may be not many ads are blocked, anyone know?
    • Safari
    • Samsung Internet
      • This doesn't show as 'Samsung Internet' on device so it's hard to find, it's just call 'Internet' ?
      • Looks like has font size by %
    • Opera
      • A site says ui is kinda confusing
    • UC - wtf is this.. ?
    • Firefox
      • Online it says 'Firefox's Quantum/Gecko engine isn't as optimized as Chromium is on Android' - is there any good links that shows that?

Looking for an app that prevents you from falling asleep

    Posted: 27 Jan 2022 02:46 AM PST

    Hi there,

So I have bad sleeping habits and it's hard to fix when I keep falling asleep in the afternoon for 3-4 hours. I wake up refreshed and then can't sleep until 5am for another 3 hours before I need to get up for work.

I want an app that tracks my activity, if between 5-11pm I don't check my phone I want it to set off a loud alarm. Is there any app like that out there?

    Thanks in advance!

(OK Google) and (X Google) open themselves randomly.

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 08:29 PM PST

These two open themselves randomly and stay on the back. They apear as white pages and I can't open them. Their icons are the usual blue square with white g.

Does anyone know how can I stop them? I can't find them in my list of apps nor on the store. I've trying googling them but found old topics about google assist that did not help.

I just got comixology to run on my surface pro 6 with native Windows 11 Android support and I love it since the mobile app is the only way to view the high res comics with guided view. What other Android apps have features previously out of reach of Windows?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 03:06 PM PST

If I run my surface with HDMI to my 4ktv I could do giant 4k Android apps. The question is, beyond my comixology example, what else might this be useful for?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

App to keep track of ... everything? Such as when and how much water I drank, when I drank pop and how much, exercise, and any other activity, feeling, etc.

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 11:31 AM PST

Previously I used an app called Nomie2, but the developer abandoned it and made it web-based. It was working fine until I updated my phone to Android 12 - and now it crashes at the loading screen.

I want to find an app that works similarly as Nomie but is an app like Nomie2 was. I really don't want to use a website that the developer can abandon since I was already burned once like that.

Calendar app that lets you drag?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 04:15 PM PST

Hello everyone, I'm looking for a calendar app that lets me drag the events (or tasks, one of these is enough) to the same day or even different days without having to manually change the date/time.

It also should sync with google or microsoft.

I tried several popular calendars but nothing met this need.

    Thank you for your help

One time payment to-do / tasks app with modern or Material You design?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 11:15 AM PST

I absolutely love the design and functionality of Todoist but the only pro feature I want is reminders, and paying $36/yr for just reminders seems steep. Tick Tick has similar pricing with free reminders, but even still I'd rather just own the app. I much prefer owning apps to subscribing.

There's a plethora of one time payment to-do apps on the play store and I'm just wondering if anyone has found a beautiful one that they really like. Sometimes the gems don't have many downloads so they can be difficult to find without recommendation.

Here's some I've tried that I like but have enough quirks that I'm looking for other options: Blitz to-do, Taskito, Memorigi

Do any one time payment apps have the automatic date parsing of Tick Tick and Todoist?

Where do you get app ideas from?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 08:00 PM PST

Hi guys. My name is Victor.

I used to get app ideas of applications to build from my problems. I'd simply write the solution to my problems and boom. I have another app.

But now, I have solved all my problems. I don't know what to create anymore.

Can the developers here please tell me where you get ideas to create things from?
