Can I recover files from broken phone?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2021 02:19 AM PST

I broke my phone. It still seems to be working, but the screen is irreversibly damaged. I want to extract my files from it to my computer, but it has an unlock pattern and I can't unlock it (cuz the screen is fucked) which blocks me from transferring files. is it possible to still recover the files somehow? thx

Is there a way to get my phone's autocorrect to stop pretending every slightly naughty word isn't real?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2021 12:25 AM PST

    Hi all,

Like the title says, autocorrect likes to replace any slightly rude word with whatever it feels like at the moment. Is there a way to disable or deal with this?

I normally just grin and bear things like this, but this crossed a line when I noticed the word "butt" is off limits, too.

Why does My Samsung S21 Ultra always sound choppy when I record audio using a site's built in recorder?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2021 12:42 AM PST

I don't want to mention the site's names but say there are sites out there that allow you to record an audio message and send it to another user.

Every time I use the site's built in recorder (like there is a record button) and use my samsung it sounds horrible! Like choppy... and I've had this issue with two sites! However, when I use a third party app to record on my phone and then UPLOAD it, it sounds perfect...

However, when I use my OLD Ipaid Air from 2014 it sounds great even when using any site's built in audio recorder... So its not really site specific as the same has occurred at two different sites.

I wonder why this is... Is it because sites are using some kind of technology that just is optimized for iphone and not android? It sounds like its compressing my audio when using an android...

Again, it sounds fine when I use a third party app to record and upload, but that is a few extra steps and adds up when you are sending a large volume of audio messages daily.

    Anyone have any insight?

How is Google / Samsung able to spy on my computers?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2021 11:51 PM PST

When using my Samsung Galaxy A12 phone recently I have noticed text typed on my computer keyboards has popped up in the phone's messaging application soon after. This is the standard messaging application for this phone, but I am unsure which of Google or Samsung is responsible for it.

This occurs when the phone's wireless connection is enabled and using wireless keyboards. It applies to more than one computer each of which has its own keyboard.

It seems to me fair to assume either Google or Samsung has decided it is entitled to spy on what I presume are unencrypted communications from the wireless computers to their respective keyboards (assuming the Linux drivers for these keyboards installed by default are not using encryption).

When I turned off the wireless connection of the phone, the issue stopped. So far I have not done anything with the keyboards like looking at the encryption status or testing with a wired keyboard.

I have not installed any software on my computers that I am aware of that is geared towards giving either of these outfits specific access to anything on the computer.

How would I be able to find out about the standard of communications used by Logitech wireless keyboards running under Linux?
