Posted: 08 Nov 2021 09:24 PM PST My pixel 4a is running Android 12. Not sure if happened before the OS update or not, but my device can no longer screencast to my LG tv or my Roku device. When I attempt to cast, it spins and spins searching, but none of my devices show up. I don't think it's an issue with the TV or Roku, because my windows PC is able to wirelessly connect without an issue. Is this a known issue or something specific to my household. Thanks! Posted: 08 Nov 2021 05:22 PM PST Using Mint Mobile, if that's relevant. Couple weeks to maybe a month or so ago, my phone had some update (honestly can't remember if it was android, or samsung, or whatever) and since then my phone has been just all around awful to use. I'll list here everything I can think of that seems to have changed since then:
I've spent at least hours googling solutions to this, usually for each of these more specific problems. I believe now that the issue is likely something to do with RAM usage, as most of these seem to be explainable by my phone simply not having the memory to continue. I don't know what the available memory is supposed to be so no clue if that's a low amount to have or not. In the excluded apps list it's stuff like youtube and reddit, in an attempt to not have them refresh but to no avail. I've tried every solution I can find on google, from changing background app refresh (I literally don't have that setting), to entering developer mode and increasing the number of background apps. I've factory reset my phone, restarted it countless times, reinstalled most apps, tried to make apps never-sleep, but nothing has helped - if anything it's gotten worse over time. If anyone has any idea what could be causing this or how to fix it, please let me know. I've only had this phone for maybe 3-4 months and it seems like a waste to have to replace it so soon. I have 300 dollars, what phone to buy? Posted: 08 Nov 2021 08:23 PM PST Hello, I am going to have a budget of maximum 300 dollars, to be able to buy a cell phone, I do not want to get demanding but if I have a good camera (rear and front), and a good ram is enough. : D. Good evening!! [link] [comments] |
Pixel 6 60fps games running slow when smooth display is on Posted: 08 Nov 2021 11:21 AM PST Sorry to post in here but it is impossible to post anything I. The pixel subreddit, my posts keep getting spam filter deleted.. and I'm sick of it. So in order to play a 60 fps game ( 90 is working fine) I have to disable smooth display. This is something that wasn't an issue in my older 90hz enabled phone.. is this a bug that's will get fixed or am I required to manually go through the settings evey single time ? For example pokemon unite is acting up when smooth display is on, but when it's off, it's buttery smooth. Seems like there's a refresh rate issue going on. Any work arounds other than going through the settings every single time? [link] [comments] |
So, does android 12 not have a music player app? Posted: 08 Nov 2021 07:32 AM PST I've got a new pixel 5a with android 12, and I can't find any app on it that simply plays locally saved music. Where the heck is the basic music player? [link] [comments] |
help i bought a poco x3 nfc and i really don't like miui, help me choose a custom ROM pls Posted: 08 Nov 2021 03:26 PM PST so i've recently bought a poco x3 nfc, and i really do not like what xiaomi is doing to android. i have it in the queue to root it, but i'm not sure what custom ROM to install Yet. i was thinking of LineageOS since there is an official build and it's easily one of the most poplar ones, so i can compare others to it in the future. is there anything you could add to this thought process? What is an effective way to protect sensitive apps and files against coercive action? Posted: 08 Nov 2021 02:32 PM PST Scenario: You are being forced to unlock your phone and give access to password and biometric protected files and apps. [link] [comments] |
This window appears very often and I don't know how to get rid of it Posted: 08 Nov 2021 05:47 AM PST This window appears very often, like once 20 minutes, and I can't get rid of it. There are all my accounts listed, and if I click on one of them it just oppens the settings app. [link] [comments] |
I need help with my phone's storage Posted: 08 Nov 2021 04:56 PM PST Ok so, my phone model and brand is vivo11. I desperately need a bigger storage but vivo does not support sd cards to be used as primary storage. I did some research and it looks like rooting can help( can it really though). What should I do? And if rooting does really help, how can I make my sd card usable as my primary storage? [link] [comments] |
Google Play Store keeps crashing and I cannot find a solution. Help? Posted: 08 Nov 2021 04:53 PM PST Started a few days ago. I've cleared cache and data, restarted device (Samsung Galaxy phone), updated device. I open Play Store and it shows me the first screen for a heartbeat and then restarts the app, over and over and over. I cannot update anything, and a few apps have told me they need updating to keep using them at all (Disney+ and Pokemon Go thus far, but i have others i know will do this when their next update launches). I've tried googling a solution but it's all what I've already tried. Help? [link] [comments] |
Cloud storage app that automatically saves locally on Android device? Posted: 08 Nov 2021 08:54 AM PST So to use Dropbox as an example, let's say I create a spreadsheet or text file on my phone. If I upload that local file to Dropbox, then it will be stored in the cloud, my computer at home would download it locally, and I'd have access to that file in the cloud from my tablet. Is there a cloud storage service/app/solution where my Android tablet would download the file locally like my computers? (without me having to open the app and manually export/pin the file) Even if it's just some utility I can run on my Windows machine that pushes the file to my tablet. I rarely take my tablet out of the house and it's always on wifi. Not too concerned about eating up internal storage of the tablet nor being without a data connection. [link] [comments] |
I need help rooting my LG phone. Posted: 08 Nov 2021 02:51 PM PST I have an LG Premier Pro L455DL attached to the Walmart family mobile no contact service I think it basically is apart of T-Mobile as a result. I know it's a cheap phone but it's what I have. I have it all the way up to date as it could be. It is running Android 9. I just want someone to point me towards the free software I would need to root it and I would like a few tips if possible. I've tried doing this on my own but kept running into roadblocks. Posted: 08 Nov 2021 02:28 PM PST I have this concerns, regarding how risky it is if someone knows or has the copy of my 2 IMEI numbers, because as we all know, on new Android phones, the IMEI were put at the back cover of phone like a sticker. So, my question is, what if someone intentionally took my IMEI, what could he possibly do? I just want to know the risk factors,i.e. Using my IMEI to clone my phone or put my phone on the blacklist, can an attacker do that by the use of IMEI numbers alone? [link] [comments] |
Pixel 6 Pro Car Crash Detection - How Likely is a False Positive? Posted: 08 Nov 2021 02:20 PM PST I'm setting up all the emergency stuff right now since it seems like a good idea. But how does the phone detect a car crash? I know it's going to use the g-force sensors inside, but what is the threshold? Would it go off if it were in my pocket and I were doing some kind of activity that involves safely falling, like a drop tower or rollercoaster? What if I were to accidentally drop the phone a long way? Those are both unlikely scenarios, but I'd rather not have my phone start trying to call 911 unless I'm certain it knows the difference between a crash and other high-force activities somehow. Posted: 08 Nov 2021 01:15 PM PST I have a problem with my phone's soundsystem. When I play a video or listen to music, the audio plays from the top speaker, for phone calls, not the bottom one, which is louder. When I connect to a Bluetooth device, it still plays from the top speaker. A restart didn't help either. I had this problem a while ago and I can't remember how I fixed it. Can someone help? PS: I have a Samsung A41, Android 10, if it makes any difference [link] [comments] |
Music just randomly pauses, regardless of app. Posted: 08 Nov 2021 01:10 PM PST This was happening on my Pixel 3 and now my 6 Pro, so not a device issue. Battery optimizations turned off, no Bluetooth in range (also turned off). Extremely annoying. Happening to anyone else? [link] [comments] |
Silence ONE app when I'm at a certain location Posted: 08 Nov 2021 12:40 PM PST I just want to silence my work e-mail application when I'm in the office so my phone is simultaneously blowing up when I'm in the office sitting at my desk looking at the same e-mail. I thought I had it figured out with Automate, but apparently it needs my phone to be rooted for it to do what it needs to do and it's a brand new phone (Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G), so I'm not quite at the 'root it' stage yet with it. Pixel 5 with Android 12 notification Issue Posted: 08 Nov 2021 12:03 PM PST As the title states I have a Pixel 5 with Android 12 (and as of writing this of course there is an update so I will delete if this is fixed with the latest) Sometimes when my phone is locked and I get a notification the screen will show what is on the unlocked screen, vibrate/chime to notify me, then revert to the locked screen with notification indicator. For the most part I don't care that much, but depending on where my phone is/what is on the screen when I last locked it, this could lead to some privacy issues. Google does not result anything as far as I can see (algorithm assumes I want to change notification settings so I take that with a grain of salt), but has anyone else had this issue? If so any fixes? [link] [comments] |
Files disappearing from phone? Posted: 08 Nov 2021 12:02 PM PST I have a LG Velvet 5G running Android 11, been using it for less than a year. I've been noticing that files I'm adding to my "Documents" folder keep disappearing after 1-2 weeks. This has been happening to 2 image files and 1 PDF, which I typically pull up regularly so it's unbelievably annoying to have them simply not be there for some reason. Whenever they disappear, I need to redownload my files from OneDrive, which takes more time and shouldn't be necessary to start with. I'm am unsure if this has happened to files in other folders I do not regularly browse, but evidently I can't look for something that isn't there. No, the favourite feature does not do anything. No, there are not any remotely similar files that could be confused as duplicates (and I would be pissed if items marked as duplicates were removed automatically anyway). I simply want to know why I can download the same file 7 times in 2 months, never manually delete anything, and end up with 1 or 0 copies on my device. Thank [link] [comments] |
Moto Z4 does not consistently receive text messages on Verizon Posted: 08 Nov 2021 11:30 AM PST I have a moto Z4, recently refurbished, which does not consistently receive texts after the newest update. I am currently on Android version 10. I receive some but not all texts, and this problem existed before on my previous moto Z4. I know I should be receiving messages because my boss has called me and asked me to respond to his texts, which I have not received. I use the default Messages App, but the problem still exists with Message+. I can sometime get the texts to update if I swap between the two apps, but that is currently not helping . Can I change my layout from the buttons along the bottom to gestures? (Sony Xperia XZ2) Posted: 08 Nov 2021 07:39 AM PST My mum recently purchased a new phone. It's a budget phone but it has the same version of Android as mine (10). Hers has the new(ish) iOS style of layout, with the bar at the bottom for swiping away apps and going back on a page via swiping. However, I'm still stuck with the now outdated bottom buttons. I'm just wondering if there's a way to change that without rooting? [link] [comments] |
