What android web browsers support Firefox extensions?

    Posted: 10 Nov 2021 03:40 PM PST

You used to just be able to install extensions from the Firefox site and all was well but then mozilla decided to brick that for whatever reason. I can't get Firefox nightly to install XPIs, I can't get Opera to do it, I can't get Fennec to install them either.

I just want to reinstall the bypass paywalls extension so I can actually read the fucking news, why is this so hard now?

Does anyone know where or if I might find this?

I once used a pc to view my phone and copied the DOM to notepad. I can't figure out how to do this again.

    Posted: 10 Nov 2021 05:59 PM PST

About 5 years ago I remember connecting my phone to my computer, enabling developer mode, setting up android's development environment to emulate my phone on the pc screen. I remember then inspecting the DOM in Chrome or not, and copying eleme t's from the DOM. Yes I'm trying to scrape data off an app. No I can't figure out how to do it again. Is this still possible? How did/do I do it?

    TIA

After Android 12 upgrade, Lock screen only shows single notification.

    Posted: 10 Nov 2021 08:59 AM PST

Before upgrading, the lock screen would show a few notifications - as much as would fit. Now it only shows one, and under that notifcation, it shows a bunch of icons from other notifications, and under that, a bunch of blank, empty space.

Is this intentional? Is there a way to show more than one notification like before? If not, how can I downgrade to Android 11?

Is there any way to 'emulate' the old, pre-Infinity Display screen?

    Posted: 10 Nov 2021 09:28 PM PST

I recently upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime to a Galaxy A02s, and I have run into an issue in which an app I often used with no issue has become unusable. As far as I can tell, the problem is that it is not designed with Infinity Display in mind (As trying to boot it up gives a "Load Style Fail" error), and it doesn't seem like it's going to be updated any time soon.

I would like to know if it's possible to 'emulate' (for lack of a better word) the old screen proportions. Or, as a last resort, if going into the APK itself might solve the issue.

How can I create a complete backup of my android phone?

    Posted: 10 Nov 2021 05:28 PM PST

    Hello,

I'm on a Pixel 3 and recently received the upgrade to Android 12. There are some things about 12 I dislike so much I'm really considering downgrading back to 11. My understanding is that the downgrade process will include completely wiping the phone. That's fine, but is there a way I can take a complete backup prior to the wipe? A complete backup as in, if I wanted/needed to, I could restore my phone to the exact state it was in at the time of backup. OS, apps, settings, etc. I can handle backing up storage, like pics, vids, downloads, etc. so I'm not concerned about that.

    Thanks in advance

Galaxy S21 update for AT&T unlocked?

    Posted: 10 Nov 2021 09:09 PM PST

I bought this phone phone brand new from someone, it was originally att but they had an unlock code. I keep hearing about updates for it, and soon android 12, but my current security patch is September 1st and I can't seem to get any more updates for it. I use mint mobile, if it is an att phone but unlocked do I still have to use an att sim to get updates? What if I use a sim from a carrier on their network (pure talk)? Because it is originally att, do I have to wait for att to push updates or can I manually download the unlocked version updates and install them?

Android Tablet Was a Shop Display Model and I Can’t Factory Reset

    Posted: 10 Nov 2021 05:51 PM PST

Hi there as the title says I bought a Galaxy Tab S4 from my brothers work that was being used as a display model. It has had a lot of its features disabled for example the google play store does not work.

I have tried to factory reset in the option but that is unavailable, the android recovery menu does not have the option either and trying to erase the data through find my Samsung just throws up an error message.

Any help in fixing this would be appreciated the only thing I think I can do now is reinstall the OS but I am unsure where to start with that method.

    Thanks

Need help Unlocking my APN settings

    Posted: 10 Nov 2021 05:50 PM PST

I recently left my old service provider and picked up mint.

When I try to add the new APN settings my phone deletes the Mint Network and forces me back to my old carrier. Does anyone know how to stop a Galaxy note 10+ from forcing APN settings?

I have Android Dev on my PC if that helps.

If this is not a good place for this question can someone direct me to a good place to ask about this?

    Posted: 10 Nov 2021 11:50 AM PST

When I open say a reddit link in Brave browser it opens an instant inside the browser.

So when I go home and reclick brave it shows the reddit instance in there and the only way to get back to brave is by backing out of reddit.

    How do I stop this?

IPsec xauth psk removed in Android 12

    Posted: 10 Nov 2021 02:01 PM PST

My school uses IPsec xauth psk to provide VPN service off-campus. Now in Android 12, Google has removed the option to select this VPN type. Any ideas on how to get it back? Or any other app that can use in its place?

Samsung A12: sound out of sync when recording video

    Posted: 10 Nov 2021 01:41 PM PST

Hi, if there is a better Reddit sub to post this on, please let me know.

I bought a new Samsung A12. I recorded two videos for the first time using the Camera app/widget that comes with the phone. For both recordings, the audio is out of sync with the video. Is there a way to fix this? Is it normal that it would do this on first use?

How long does battery hold its charge? Please name your phone model/brand and battery capacity and how old the phone is in use

    Posted: 10 Nov 2021 01:04 PM PST

Question seems wierd? let me explain, I have a Huawei now for more than 3 years and 3 months. The battery started a year ago to drop significantly. Back when I bought I could use it without youtube on max brightness almost 1 and half day(s). Though now I have to have it on auto brightness in order to get trough the day. If I watch youtube now I have to charge it twice a day almost 3 times. Though if I look at other phones from Samsung in my school I picked out that a lot of people have about the same battery life as when I used my phone for more than 2 years, while they have mordern-isch (S10 and up and even some Iphone users)

And a friend got a phone 4 months after me and he runs out of battery even in school, though he uses it even class so there is that, but I still get around 4-5 hours screen on time. He definitely cant get that screen on time, his phone is a note 8 with 3300mah.

My phone a 3750mah battery, and I do kinda want that battery life again it is perfect for me, and my first solution was a Huawei phone again but than again they got banned without google it is a major downside. Not sure if a 60€ battery replacement is worth it, as I broke recently the screen and repaired it.

iPhone to Android Photo Transfer Solution That Doesn’t Shuffle Your Photos Like a Deck of Cards?

    Posted: 10 Nov 2021 10:17 AM PST

Ok, I'm about to loose it. You'd think that in 2021 it'd be fairly trivial to properly transfer your photos from iPhone to Android. However, I've yet to find a solution that doesn't leave my photos in a jumbled mess.

Rant aside, I've tried the basic drag and drop from iPhone > PC > Android, zipping all the photos and extracting them on Android, various photo transfer apps, cloud services, and several gallery apps with different sorting options. Nothing is able to result in Android showing my photos in the same order as my iPhone. In some instances, my gallery app shows the correct date in the photo metadata, but is still determined to put photos from 2012 next to ones I took yesterday. I'm about to resort to some Python scripting to see if I can come up with a solution.

It doesn't make sense that it would be this much of a convoluted mess just to transfer photos around. I hope I'm missing something, but it feels like I've tried every option.

    Any advice?

    Samsung Mysteriously out of memory

    Posted: 10 Nov 2021 08:55 AM PST

So I have a cheap Samsung Galaxy J7 Crown. I am constantly receiving prompts that I am out of storage space on the device and cannot update or download any apps. The phone says it has 16GB from the factory minus the factory installs that cannot be removed (Fuck you Facebook). I only have 114MB of photos and 449MB of Videos saved to the device and have only used 2.8GB on downloaded apps. I've cleared caches, deleted unnecessary files, and moved everything possible to an SD card. The phone still says I've used 15.4GB of the 16GB available?? Does anyone know where all of my storage space went and is there any way to clean the phone out and regain some the unused space? Or can anyone at least clarify what is going on? What is taking up so much storage on my phone?
