Posted: 03 Nov 2021 05:45 PM PDT I have a samsung J7 2016, is has 16GB of disk space. Yet it says i only have 1.2GB left of space, while all my stuff (apps, photos, ...) only take up 5.5GB of space. I dont understand, is it because the phone disk is SSD and space wears off? [link] [comments] |
Google Fit significantly over tracking steps after upgrading to Android 12 Posted: 03 Nov 2021 08:28 PM PDT I have a Pixel 3 which I upgraded to Android 12 over the weekend. Ever since then, my Google Fit app has been way off tracking my step count, sometimes claiming I've walked over a marathon's distance in a single day (doctors hate this one trick, learn how you can walk 25 miles from the comfort of your desk!) Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions on how I can troubleshoot? Worth noting I have no external step tracking devices set up. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Nov 2021 05:08 PM PDT I hope this is the right reddit to ask this, if not apologies. - Restarting by itself and deleting all contacts - Turning on TTS and adding a pin/pattern by itself - Changing the language to Chinese and once again adding a pattern / pin by itself - Deleting applications (WhatsApp / Facebook) At first I thought it was him, so I took the phone home and left it by itself after doing a Factory Reset, and this morning it had somehow added a pin by itself and changed the text to Chinese, I could also see it had deleted all the apps as the messages from WhatsApp were no longer in the notifications. Even after I factory reset it, it keeps doing the same thing, what could be the issue? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Nov 2021 04:07 PM PDT Hey all, I have a Google Pixel 5 running Android 12 and tonight it had this green circle with three horizontal dots in it show up, I can drag it around the edges of the screen. Pressing it up opens a menu of UI/OS type options. It's annoying me. Any clues as to what this is or how to turn it off? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Nov 2021 10:01 PM PDT My father recently bought a phone ( samsung galaxy note 9) for my brother and it came with root access. Is it normal and will my warranty be void. What should i do? Any help appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Nov 2021 09:55 PM PDT Hey guys, just dug out an old sch-s738c and am wondering if there's a super lightweight firmware that I could install on this. I bought it several years ago to be a Bluetooth slave but never really used it because it has a really hard time functioning with the OS on it (Android 4.0.4). Is there a better firmware package out there for this device that won't drag it down so hard? [link] [comments] |
Any tips and tricks how to make Android phone friendly for elderly people? Posted: 03 Nov 2021 03:10 PM PDT I have recently bought Samsung S9 to my grandma, she knows basic how to use the phone, i have increased text size and, found good theme that gives clean look, increased the size of keyboard, all important stuff on the home screen, only 1 home screen, widgets for direct calls for most important contacts. Is there any other ideas and tips that i can do to help her out navigate this phone. Before this she used my old reliable and lovely Nexus 5 which she low key hated because we werent able to increase the text size to the right amount (didn't wanted to do custom roms or any heavy modifications on it) so its quite the steep progress. I know Samsung has easy mode, but that makes it harder not easier cause she needs to swipe trough multiple screens to open app. [link] [comments] |
Trying to recover old photos off of a Samsung Galaxy S7 Posted: 03 Nov 2021 09:04 PM PDT A few years ago I dropped my phone, and while the phone system is still working, the screen completely broke and is black. The photos and files on it are not backed up. I tried using Droidkit to recover the data, but you need to allow USB debugging for this to work, and I can click on anything since the screen is black. Is there anything I can do to get the data back [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to change individual app notification settings? Posted: 03 Nov 2021 08:41 PM PDT I've got a pixel 3xl running android 12. I just installed a new intercom system (DoorBird) at my home and I'm wondering if there's a way to have any DoorBird notifications be audible while the rest of my notifications are on "Vibrate" Or if I can even change the doorbird notifications to pulsate instead of a quick buzz that i frequently miss. I've tried searching, but a lot of the replies on this are a few years old / outdated. I'm even okay installing a 3rd party app to manage this if someone has a good recommendation. Using Google Now Launcher on Android 12 Posted: 03 Nov 2021 07:45 PM PDT I've been using the Google now launcher on my Pixel 5a without issue since the device came out, but since getting the android 12 update I can no longer set it as the default launcher app. Is there any way to force setting this app as the default? How do I remove Google Family Link from an old phone? Posted: 03 Nov 2021 07:01 PM PDT I used Family Link on my son's account. I've just given him a new phone--an iPhone, by the way---and want to wipe the Android phone he was using. But it won't let me. The phone says I must first deactivate Family Link, but I can't figure out how. When I go to the app on my Android phone, I don't see anything about turning it off. The closest it comes is an option for deleting my son's Google account, which I don't want to do. But if I can't get rid of Family Link, I can't wipe the phone for someone else to use. So how do you disengage Family Link? Does anybody know? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Snoozing notifications is incredibly unreliable Posted: 03 Nov 2021 06:25 PM PDT I'm overall in love with my Pixel 6 Pro and mostly Android 12 in general, but the snoozing notifications feature simply does not work. Hitting the "z" clock logo either results in the notification never appearing again or only reappearing once. I really wish I also had the option to make a snoozed notification persistent, meaning it engages an audio cue as well. The point of a notification is to get your attention, not pop up under the radar unnoticed. Any time I've had the snooze notification come back it's always silent. I've always relied on a legacy Android calendar snoozing app and it looks like I've got to turn back to it once again. Anyone with a similar experience or insight? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Nov 2021 02:28 PM PDT The notifications interface on Android 12 fucking sucks. What are the risks of going back to 11? And if anyone who developed the notifications pulldown on Android 12 sees this, fuck you for bricking my phone. [link] [comments] |
Connecting a USB Wall plugin printer to an Android device... Is it possible? Posted: 03 Nov 2021 05:57 PM PDT I want to hook up a USB printer to my Android device? Is that possible? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Nov 2021 05:56 PM PDT Hello friends, I want to change my cell phone now at 11.11 on aliexpress. I have some options in mind, I want a gaming phone. Nubia 6r Black shark 4 Realme GT 5g Poco F3 Realme Neo GT 2 I'm leaving a note 8 pro, I don't want to spend a lot. The maximum would be the realme GT, which is the most expensive on this list. If anyone knows other models, I'm open to suggestions, thank you in advance. Sorry for my bad English. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Nov 2021 05:53 PM PDT How can i make a second kik account on same phone? When i use parallel space or the device dual app function the kik tells me "user banned" or something similar when making a new account, it works normal on the first copy of the app though, any solution? Issues with controller on Galaxy Tab Posted: 03 Nov 2021 05:39 PM PDT I have a Galaxy Tab S2, model SM-T810. When I use a Gamepad app, it says my A-B-X-Y buttons register as A-B-C-Y and my R1 says it's the Z button. This makes it impossible to have a proper setup for Minecraft. It does this with a Playstation 4 controller and a wired one I bought that works fine on my PC when I play it on there. Do I have to root the thing, or is there something easier I'm missing? My Galaxy Fold 3 battery recently started to suck, I reset my Wifi and now it's fine... Posted: 03 Nov 2021 07:11 AM PDT I don't really get how that's possible but I'll take it lmao. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 03 Nov 2021 12:10 PM PDT Long story short I have a paranoid female in my life that I suspect she's got into my mobile. Is there anyway of finding out any Apps that have been installed without me knowing? I some of these spy ones are hidden so don't show in Apps installed that I've searched about. [link] [comments] |
Thinking of buying an android phone Posted: 03 Nov 2021 03:53 PM PDT So I was thinking of buying an android device, but I have heard a lot of people talking about pop-ups. Does android have pop-ups built into the stock apps (I know ads can appear in unofficial apps) or do the ads come from apps you download? Do those apps sneak in ads onto the rest of your apps? Do the ads come from the manufacturer and producer of the phone? I was mostly thinking of buying a galaxy phone if that helps. What do you think? [link] [comments] |
How to stop Chrome from reloading tabs when switching back from a different tab? Posted: 03 Nov 2021 09:07 AM PDT I start writing a comment, switch to another tab to quickly check something, go back to the original tab and chrome decided to unload the original tab from memory together with my comment. When I switch back, the tab is reloaded from the internet again and my unsubmitted comment is of course gone. This is absolutely infuriating. How to force chrome to keep all tabs in memory and never reload? I dont care if it wastes battery and/or memory. Alternatively, if this is not possible in chrome, is there a browser that has such an option? [link] [comments] |
Refreshable braille hack support needed Posted: 03 Nov 2021 02:44 PM PDT I work in accessibility for people who are blind and DeafBlind, and am working on a proprietary hardware product that is Android based, trying to get additional accessibility features going on it. Unfortunately, I can't talk about the specifics of the device, other than to say that I have permission from the company to tinker with it. I have TalkBack working, but I'm also trying to get refreshable braille output. I've been playing with BRLTTY and trying to get a display working via wired USB, but I'm not having much luck with it. BrailleBack would be ideal, but it's Bluetooth only. Unfortunately, the hardware doesn't seem to have an onboard Bluetooth chipset. Are there any class compliant Bluetooth dongles that work in the Android environment? Fyi, USB OTG issues should not be a sticking point in this scenario, as this hardware has two standard USB A ports, and is happily talking to a standard keyboard, mouse, and wifi adapter via a USB 2 hub. Ideas appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Nov 2021 02:43 PM PDT Hello guys so like a month ago I dropped my pixel 5 in water and it's just completely dead it doesn't turn on and I'm about to get my new phone under insurance. Butt I was wondering can someone still access my information on my phone? It's has a passcode but idk if they can connect it via computer and Access stuff after somehow? [link] [comments] |
