Unable to install Windows on laptop however can install Linux Posted: 09 Nov 2021 12:09 PM PST I have my laptop which currently has Ubuntu. It's not bad but I'd prefer to use Windows; however, after trying everything I can think of I'm still unable to install it. I have tried different disk types (MBR & GPT), 32 & 64 bit versions of Windows and also using Rufus to try installing Windows 11, 10 and 7, with everything ending with either a reboot or a pixelated multicoloured screen. I have even tried using Win2USB to install Windows directly onto the hard drive however this causes my laptop to indefinitely freeze upon the Windows logo appearing. My laptop is a HP Notebook 15-bw0xx. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. [link] [comments] |
ASUS ROG Strix XG27UQ Monitor Flickering Occasionally Posted: 09 Nov 2021 01:51 PM PST Just recently noticed that occasionally, my monitor will flicker at seemingly random moments while using. For the most part, it seems to happen when clicking through various apps or whether I'm opening an image in something like Twitter or another website. I'm using Chrome and maybe thinking it could be something related to that, but the entire screen flickers and not just Chrome. I'm using a displayport 1.4 cable but it said that it was capable of handling 4K/144hz, so I'm unsure if it's that. Any ideas what I might be able to do to fix? [link] [comments] |
Trouble managing desktop shortcut links with OneDrive Posted: 08 Nov 2021 03:30 PM PST I recently entered a situation where I have two PCs in two separate locations, and I need to use OneDrive specifically to manage their Desktop, Documents, and Pictures folders. Documents and pictures work just great, so no issues there. However, I'm finding that I have desktop shortcuts that exist for programs installed on both machines, but with different paths. Obviously, clicking on the shortcut for the program on the 2nd machine with the differing path won't work. Is there a way to turn off the sync on specific files, or keep a strictly local copy of that link. Or am I going to have to disable the Desktop sync entirely, just keep separate desktops entirely, and be diligent about not saving quick-access files/folders to the desktop in case I need to access those files on both machines?
